It was just a suggestion…
I don’t care what goes on in warmode because I will not turn it on.
I do however think that warmode users are a bunch of entitled, greedy people (not everyone of course, but certainly a lot of them are). They want world pvp, they get world pvp. Now they want more rewards while they already have what they wanted.
It is when you kill people with the netomatic. For everything else, I think flying is a cancer to warmode. You can literally have 5 people drop on you out of nowhere. It’s not just that they’re flying, it’s that flying is too damn fast. With the game’s modern engine and how things fade in and out of rendering, you can have players charging at you before they even get the chance to be rendered by the game. I play on high settings, high rendering distances and I still get people popping out of nowhere. And that isn’t fun. I think making people slower will make world pvp more fun, but nobody will play it with flying disabled.
Danger = why I play Warmode.
That’s not danger. That’s the game’s engine not handling the game that was designed by designers. I like warmode, I run with it almost all of the time, but that isn’t fun, it turns warmode into gankfest. Imo, when you turn the rendering distance to max, you should see players in a 100 yard radius around you. Always. Not have them fade out of view when they get out of a 40 yard range. That way you’ll be able to plan and strategize… right now, there’s only one valid tactic and that is dropping a ball of death on players. And that is fun, but it’s not that fun.
To be fair Blizzard created this climate that if you use this mode you will get extra rewards. So people started using it purely for that regardless of any interest in WM. I think it makes sense while levelling to get compensated with extra xp for the ganking you inevitably face somewhere in your journey.
At max level they really should have made it so it only rewards PvP exclusive currencies.
This is just my opinion ofc.
Suggestion: replace Pathfinder in future expansions with certain small areas dotted around that contain scenarios where you need a flying mount to get to them, but everywhere else in the world is ground mount only.
This essentially removes flying as we know it but still gives it a purpose. There are too many winged/flying mounts ingame now to just completely take it away. This solves it.
While I get where you’re coming from and think that’s a good point, I personally wouldn’t be spending much time scanning the skies even if I could see the ganking party coming.
the problem isnt having or not having flying.
the problem lies right
Here. Blizzard over the years have become so against flying they refuse to embrace it… theres SO MANY WAYS they could involve flight into the Terrain and Exploration of the game.
- Additional Areas on maps which u can only reach once you can fly.
- Quest hubs placed around for additional story and such.
- Landscapes to explore.
- Treasure chests/Islands.
- Little Lore Eggs scattered.
- Jousting
Flight doesnt feel like a achievement… it feels more like a completion. and its Sour, you effectively grind against the enviroment Until you’ve Unlocked a Flight which you no longer need because by the time your there you dont need to go back anymore.
they need to give up on trying to timegate it so hard… and actually create the feeling of achievement obtaining it.
Allow us to simply travel by foot until we’ve reached the Reputations… allow us to get flight at our own paces and introduce Open world content which is Centred on Flying.
flying got boring the day Blizzard Stopped doing anything with it.
not when pathfinder was introduced.
Blizzard need to look at ways to make flight feel like a Reward and be fun to have, not merely a convience u eventually earn.
We could be excited to be able to fly.
but we’re just Relieved to not have to run around anymore.
Absolutely this.
Balmorra was especially funny in this regard, took me months to crawl up to that cliffside to have the Colicoid codex entry
And those sweet Datacron hunts… miss it tbh
Datacron hunts were the best
I miss aspects of SWtor, still love WoW but would love to see similar things incorporated into WoW if possible, although WoW Secret Finders do a fantastic job to it’s still mainly cosmetic items.
The goal matters, if winning a NBA championship is the goal, when it is won, it is emotionally fulfilling.
“Humans are lazy by nature”…so in other words, in what ever we do, the goal is to be Lazy.
There are several things WoW could adopt from SW:TOR
No class/faction/race restriction
Dyable armors
Armor “mogs” (heavy armor could look like a light, or cosmetic, etc)
Flagship summon (no need x ppl at sum stone or lock, just summ the team for some credit)
Housing *cough *
Aye… would be nice
Would you feel accomplished because you won the NBA Championship because everyone stayed at home due to the corona crisis and, for whatever reason, someone held a mock-competition just to crown you the king?
I mean you’d have won the NBA, right? But you’d be the king of the losers, and you know it - and more importantly you would know that everyone else would know it. It would be nothing like actually winning the NBA by playing the sport well.
This is the thing I miss most, loved to customise looks. But if we derail the thread from flying/not flying, we will be taken out and shot (without blindfolds)
If I remember correctly, when warmode kicked in, each PvP realm was merged with a non-PvP realm. The playerbase wasn’t divided, the only change was that you could roam freely from one mode to the other. The same could be done with flying, merging realms so that the population remains consistant.
We keep coming back to this. We have to explore why people like flying, and yes, it matters. It matters a lot. That’s what I meant when I said Blizzard shouldn’t do what the community asks - they should understand where it’s coming from and work with it.
Honestly, designing a game to make a compromise so two parties can be equally miserable is just… it strikes me as pretty weak.
Well, case 2 will exist very soon due to the release of Shadowlands.
And all this makes it worse, anyway.
If everyone else is flying and you’re not, you just feel gimped and there’s this worry that you’re gonna get carpet-bombed at any given moment. When nobody has flying you don’t get that, and that’s really important.
No, everyone goes crazy to get it whether they like the mechanic or not.
When I’m flying I literally fly up high or point upward a bit, and then I align my arrow on the middle of the minimap to go in the direction of the arrow on the edge of the map, and then I go AFK and wait for my character to get there.
Aerial Azeroth looks pretty terrible overall. This is mainly because of the engine - you see being higher up means you should see farther. That’s how the real world works, and that’s how you get those wonderful vistas in the skies. This is because of the Earth’s curvature and the thinning atmosphere. WoW doesn’t have either of those. The views just get obstructed by a giant wall of fog.
And don’t even get me started on the skies themselves. We’ve had tech for volumetric clouds in games since 2006 (CryENGINE) and yet WoW still doesn’t to this day. Obviously that’s fine if you’re on the ground - you would likely never reach the cloud anyway, but when we’re flying? It’s not fine. The clouds move up at the same pace you are.
Flying can be fun in some games and in some implementations. WoW probably has the worst implementation of flying of any game, and it isn’t even a good idea in MMORPG’s to begin with. That’s why I oppose it.
Proceeds to literally write out my interpretation.
They obviously wouldn’t - the point is Blizzard is not taking directions from the playerbase, because if they did they wouldn’t have created the Covenant system - they taking feedback from the playerbase. This is the distinction I’ve tried to make, and it is the only you’re making right back at me. I don’t understand why you’re doing this? xD
I have played perfectly fine without flying but I appreciate that it exists if I wanted it, removal would be a big backwards step imo.
You just make a choice, is the perks worth the pitfalls? Then do it! For me farming all these dailies gets in the way of how I want to play the game currently so im grounded and it hasn’t impacted me at all.
The only argument I see that really made me ponder things was how it impacts wpvp, I still disagree, if somebody can mount up they could also stealth or invisibility pot or any other number of cheeky tactics to escape.
People hover above me when I have bounty? Yeah it happens, still entirely possible to be ambushed without flying, I think people just use it as a scapegoat instead of just taking it on the chin and getting back on with it.
If I cheat to get an A+ on a test and never got caught, did I actually cheat?
And how is my A+ different to everyone else that got an A+ on that test?
Again the Goal matters, for those that say yes, I did cheat, they obviously don’t have the same goal as me.
My A+ looks the same as theirs.
Yes.
Alright, let’s make an analogy to that.
If you kill someone innocent without provocation and never got caught, did you actually commit murder?
Yes. Yes, you did. You actually got away with murder.
Your thought process actually disturbs me. You should go see a psychologist - and I’m not kidding. Your thought process is literally that of a psychopath.
