No need to nerf torghast, but maybe they could give some ash when you reach the 3rd floor.
Not tedious at all. If you don’t like mob grinding maybe it’s time to reroll, try a different class maybe
blizzard’s actually quite hard headed when it comes to end game content. And since torghast counts as one of them, I wouldn’t really be too worried about that.
And given how they buffed some stuff in torghast with the last minor updates, I think my theory is proven right.
How changing classes will change game rules? Do you read what you write?
I find this mentality disturbing, why should you be rewarded for failing?
Why do we need participation rewards?
You’re being intellectually dishonest, your resentment does stem from you wanting to be rewarded for your failures.
If you feel like your character doesn’t have the DPS to kill the final boss, on your next run, kill every mob and crack open every vase, simple.
Yes, perhaps there should be more chance to get cosmetic and mounts and currency rewards from chests and silver elite mobs.
At least then if people die on the last boss they don’t feel like they’ve wasted their time. They should not however make it easier-- because it is possible to just do rank 1 of each floor per week and get Soul Ash from that. Those first ranks are very easy relatively and it really doesn’t take much practice to defeat those.
Would prob be good if you’d get a feeling earlier into the run of whether the Boss will be doable or not. Coz it’s all a lot easier until you get to the Boss, and even Anima powers for trash aren’t necessarily good for the Boss. And sometimes one gets unlucky with what anima powers drop to begin with, that can also be a bummer.
You need to TEAM UP with friends or other players if you have trouble in Torghast. It gets 10x easier. This is an MMO, stop complaining if you can’t solo specific content.
I love the fact that people KEEP replying as though my problem is the fact that I lost a run. It’s not, I said several times in this thread that I play a lot of roguelikes and as such am used to losing. I actually DON’T want Torghast to be easier, the difficult boss at the end is really fun, especially with the serious chance of failure.
My problem was one of design, the length of a run, the fact that most of it it fairly dull trash clearing, and the fact that if you lose you need to redo all that trash clearing. I am totally fine with losing, I am not fine with the quest I feel the game is guiding me towards completing to unlock the rest of the story being made up of 40 minute grinds that every now and again result in no reward and pure frustration.
TL;DR Torghast is fun, the way it’s slotted into the larger game and character progression is terrible
The idea that you have to solo Torghast was a pathetic attempt by streamers to allude to being good at the game whilst adorning mythic gear. i just solod torghast lvl 1 of both wings with gear around 155 to 165 on average. I grouped for fracture lvl 2 and it was pretty easy - I just was in a group for lvl 3 fracture just now but one or two of them refused to play with a rogue that they determined had 300 dps after merely 2 or 3 npc’s. lol.
play with friends and you wont have this bad feeling
last week i was trying to boost a friend of mine (he ha dlow ilvl to run layer 3) we failed, but it was one of the most hilarious moments i’ve ever had in wow in a long time
running trough last 2 floors while jumping from platform to platform with the grappling hook while begin chased by the big monster, oh man hahahah it was fun!
the key for enjoy wow is : play with friends, and try make new ones!
I think the 2 big problems with Torghast are firstly that it takes far too long to get through all the floors and secondly that is far far too random in difficulty.
Personally I’ve got 2 level 60 chars and both have now cleared all the available levels so far, one breezed through them all but the other hit a series of totally brutal mort regar runs that actually had me questioning if I could do this at all. I did keep going and hit an easy run eventually where I just breezed through but I’d question if that much variation in difficulty on the same toon doing the same level is reasonable…
I am totally okay with the current difficulty, it is not the fact that I lost, but the experience of losing that is the problem.
I had actually missed the fact that they reset weekly, which does make things slightly better, still annoying to need to wait an extra week to get my legendary. but less bad since it means i can avoid having to try floor 3 again until I’ve geared up and unlocked some stuff.
p.s. you must be aware and understand that ilvl matters A LOT
aaaand you are deffo not forced to rush layer 3, you can clear 2 wing on layer 1, get your soul ash, and in 3-4 weeks u can easily make your legendary if you are a casual with low ilvl ^^
in BG you take Honor even if you lose. Less
This is what im doin. cuz im a “meh” player
I mean I have played longer runs in other roguelikes and having gotten nothing. But in a progression based game like WoW, where Soul Ash is now the thing I need to progress, working for 40 minuites for it and getting foiled at the last moment is an awful player experience.
But thank you for your analysis, Dr. Freud.
this is good, take your time and enjoy the game, no one force you to rush
Ah yes, the LFR generation when faced with the concept of failure.
Don’t forget the jump from 2 to 3 is quite big, people shouldn’t feel ashamed if they find it a struggle, despite what the “lol did it in my sleepers!” on forums will say. The fact is it doable by all potentially does not mean all will find it easy. This is just one of those things that people approach at different speeds much like in RL. I’m sure there’s other stuff you have mastered quickly that some people here would struggle to wrap their head around for example.
The main difference is layer 3 introduces the “affixes” via floor mechanics. These make a substantial difference to how easy the run is. Spawning assassins when you’re OOC for 20 sec? Yeah that’s not fun for classes that have downtime, and the assassin mobs are pretty nasty, especially as you approach the boss floor. Pair it in a wing where you have mobs that vanish, only to come abck and gank you later, and mobs that constantly respawn when they die, and it’s very hard to catch your breath.
This week for me, the trash in mort presented a much bigger issue for me than the boss. The boss was a non-event, but I lost a couple of lives on trash where I got stuck in a loop with devils repopping on me near constantly and patrols joining in. This happened a couple of times and I couldn’t vanish to escape as they detect stealth (and I was fighting the patrol on their route, so they immediately reaggroed me). I also stupidly lost a life due to sprint causing me to ride over a chain middle and it caused me to drift off the edge.
So not a fan of mort, challenging for sure, but a lot of it just seems really annoying. I’m just thankful I could use vanish to pull stealth seeing packs to run past them, then vanish to reset them anyway to skip a few because I was very quickly getting bored of mort.
