Losing a torghast run is legitimately the worst gaming experience I've had in years

Same! Ive lost 3 lives on thrash. And with few minutes spared (for irl) i gave up.

The devils I can deal with, but it’s the ones that vanish and gank you later. I haven’t been able to work out when they reappear. I’ve waited around (which lost appeal quickly when there are devil corpses around) and it seemed to do nothing, rather they’ve always seemed to appear whenever it wasn’t on my terms, like pulling a pack, or when i’m carefully going down a chain.

In a way it’s ironic I hate these vanishing mobs that come back for a second go, now I know how my opponents in PvP feel! It’s not fun! Sorry guys!

i feel you bro, i feel you XD
but personalyl when this happened, i died laughing at myself hahaha

ah, dont forget that same wing/layer can be super hardcore due to bad/unluky powers-up, but you may be re do it and destroy everything (literally happened to me and a friend… did a run, SAME boss, first try seems impossible, second time we deleted the whole run! its a roguelike, its happen to have unluky runs :stuck_out_tongue:

I want rewards for those 5 floors i have cleared without losing single life, not for participation. Anima powers are so unbalanced that this content just wastes peoples time, because you can spend 30minutes grinding every floor to not being able to kill last boss, something must be given in return so ppl won’t feel like it’s total waste of time.

Is this really the main feature of expansion? Do this chore twice a week and forget? Is this new feature policy? if yes then i’m not surprised so many people hate those “features”

I was like “grappling hook gooooo!” but “No path” ruins my day.

I’ve found consistently better runs for me as a rogue (only the first floor or two can be a bit dicey before my build comes together) by focusing on defensive powers. Leather Apron, Crimson Vial Reduction, Crimson Vial procs defensives. These are amazing powers when added together and make you really hard to kill as a rogue.

Also primary stat boosts. Certainly as an MG i’m all over these. My last Fractured run I had the equivalent of 73% increased agility. I hit over 2k agility!

and dont foret that venari give amazing upgrades!
yesterday i’ve hit new lvl rep and i unloked a thing that hard buff your main stats for just 100 phantasma + the one that give higher % to have epic powerups!

its just about time, people need to chill and ejoy the game with the time they have, stop rushing! its a game, not a work, legion/bfa put us in this bad habit

Yeah i’ll hit a new Ve’nari rep level tonight so will be buying some stuff as I have a ton of Stygia I don’t know what to do with.

I think my plan is to progress my renown, do campaign story and then spend evening in torg seeing how high I can go. Will focus on gearing/BGs to get my honour gear to 197 later in week.

The experience of losing isn’t actually alien to gaming.

A game is in fact not a game without the risk of defeat-- which is why so many people are so frustrated with the game, and I suspect those also who can’t articulate exactly why. There’s just no depth or atmosphere if it’s just collecting things (which is essentially what a game becomes when one can just run around with no sense of danger).

I think the OPs point was they got no reward what so ever for their time.

I think that’s a legit criticism and worth posting about and discussing.

Perhaps another type of currency then… hahahaha

I actually agree that its a valid point. Perhaps some ash should be awarded for the boss on each floor but the majority from the final boss. The total for the run can still be the same

this made me chuckle!

Failure is always an awful experience, this idea that you should be compensated when you fail so the experience is more pleasant, I don’t agree with.

To the victor goes the spoils.

But the reward is for clearing 6 floors. If layer 3 is to hard, I’d recommend to just stick to layer 1 and 2.

I understand but in current state i demand first 5 floors to be equal difficulty as last boss so i won’t waste time in hopes i will breeze through him, while being rekt myself. It’s like participating in lottery where only 6 exact digits work, you check results and:

1st digit: check
2nd digit: check
3rd digit: check
4th digit: check
5th digit: check
6 digit: big NO

Do you get rewards for those?
I’ve not reached Torghast yet os haven’t tried it. As Shaman have felt squishy the last couple of expansions I’m getting a lttle nervous reading these threads. I don’t mind taking it slowly though so if I can get reasonable progress out of the the garaunteed win levels then I’m fine with that.

When I was reading about Torghast months ago it sounded like a good way of doing things. bad players might only do 2 or 3 floors and get a little reward, average players would do 7 or 8 floors and get more rewards sooner. Good players would complete all the floors and get the highest rewards.

I was fine with this as a bad player, I don’t mind lower slower rewards but at least I’ll still be rewarded for my time.
I never even attempted mage tower, I know I’m not up to it but as the rewards were cosmetic I didn’t mind missing them.
I didn’t do islands because I had to group with randoms and that put me off. Torghast being soloable interested me. But if you basically have to group unless you have a tank spec or tank pet then I’ll be disappointed.

Agreed, 10 -12% for reaching floor 6 without losing a life the remaining 88% if/when main boss is defeated. Encourage people to improve gear and tactics with a small reward for the time taken to participate.

You don’t have to group for torghast, anyone who tells you you “have to” is stretching what is true.

it’s meant to get harder as you climb, which means as a solo player, you may need to gear up to get higher (like a group would) but all classes were capable of soloing past 2 weeks layer 3. No indication this won’t be the case heading into later layers.

Some people may benefit from grouping, but as to whether you MUST, no.

I think if “rewardsfor losing” were added, the only one i’d concede is good enough is that you retain a % of all the phantasma you gathered on that run if you attempt to repeat the run at the same level having failed it prior. This means you’ll be in a better position to try again and spend at the vendors, so this “reward” encourages you to try again, to get the real prize, rather than giving you some of the real prize despite you losing.

still depends on rng. what boss you get is also rng. And remember not every class got a good self heal like druids. a boss like the ghoul one for example is not a very good match good for a mm hunter, while the slime ones are not a problem at all

sigh
What’s next? Want loot from the 3/4 bosses you killed in a not completed M+ run?

The challenge is travel through the tower of torghast and defeat the boss at the end, you didn’t … so you rightfully didn’t get the price either.

Instead of going to forums to cry for attention, and that the world isn’t fair because you dont get rewards for failing something, use that time to become better at your class, get some gear instead.

it’s pointless discussing this in any way, because you are most likely not gonna be happy until the content has been so nerfed that it can be done with your eyes closed in levelling greens.
