currently running mostly 5-8 keys and I use my own keys.
As long as you use your own key you can be somewhat picky.
Side note: since ret is the “noob” king in current state of pvp, meaning pretty easy to look desecent in bgs and arena there ARE a lot of really bad rets out there, using half of their toolkit (of course this goes for all classes). Small story: was tanking on DH and had 2xhunter ilvl 196 and 200. Sanguin week, one mob stod in pool for a long time and couldnt be interrupted and sillience. None of them used combust shot to knock the mob out of sanquien.
Ones you start making your on group with your key you will see how many you can choose from. Avoid dumb stuff in description as, BRING BRAIN ETC ^^
Use raider .io addon is a great tool, specially these days where a LOT have higher ilvl due to pvp gear (of course LOT of pieces suits a lot of spec for sec. stats).
The closer you get to +10 key the more people will check if you have raider. io and experience enough for dungoen you want to do.
I am by no means a good player - i am average in most i do, yet i play this game since day 1 with only a few breaks. The first 7 or 8 years quite intensive with a lot of raiding and so on - the last few years more laid back with rather M+ as raiding as life dictates my playtimes and not vice versa these days. Yet i never felt beeing at a point where i simply couldnt not go on progession wise, it never felt like i was “left out” - there always was a chance to get an item here or there even without comitting to much into it. Now i start to feel left out - and i cant see the path out of darkness atm. IO score is onl 550 or so . but i even cant get in +6 to improve it
People like to blame an addon and take it personally for some strange reason. Rather than accept all the things I have explained.
I have dinged an alt last reset and completed a handful of keys up to +8 without issue. It was another paladin and it isn’t a meta class. I don’t even have the minimum 200 score on it to show my main score in game. So I showed as a 0 score player when applying to groups.
I was declined from some +2s I applied to, they most likely didn’t want another melee in the team. I never care and just keep applying. I will get in something somewhere.
Yes if you want to keep pugging it makes sense to try and do all the keys, and then build on the levels at which you are completing them.
It’s all I did on my main, complete keys then keep doing higher ones and improve your score. People’s skill levels vary a great deal and how fast or slow you can push that score is up to you.
If you do not want to push a score then you do all the other things I suggested, play with friends, guildies, or communities who do not care about timers, scores or if things go wrong will just stay to the end and get that measly one item of loot.
saying that its their own choice is like saying that its their own choice hat they dont do +15
when in both truth is very simple - they lack skills.
no matter what internet heroes may claim m+15 , 1800 in pvp , mythic raiding is hardcore part of game done only by tiny minority fo players.
and its ok . hardcore content should exist in game
but there also should exist constant for of progression for casual players.
VP/badges were this form of progression
now unraked pvp right now is exacly this for of progression for majority of people. because it ensures that after whole evening of spaming epic bgs they will obtain upgrades/new piece of gear with decent itlv.
I was able to complete a +10 atonement key during first week of m+ with 183 iLvL, and group average 185, your iLvL is enough but standarts of people are higher know. They are looking for guarantee players.
+6 and +9 keys are the worst keys btw. Highest effort, lowest rewards for the job done. Push your own key or switch to PvP otherwise you’ll have to keep waiting like a dog near doors of LFG groups throughout the patch-expansion.
The game is super anti-melee atm, and this week even more.
Plus a lot of players queue for M+ atm, listing my key for the LFG I get over 50 applicants in a couple of minutes.
Unlike rogues / monks that can give huge boons to the group most melee are performing rather badly and only shine at very very high keys when people are super coordinated.
This is kinda into pushing territory with the ilvl/key level ratio, but certainly doable if you have decent people playing. Did a timed +12 key on my warrior yesterday (60 for 6 days and ilvl 192, no legendary) being second DPS by a few hundred points. Was a guild group though not very optimized and we beat it with about 37 seconds left.
The problem is that pugs will have people applying with ilvl 210 and simply take those instead.
After playing my resto shammy, I went back to my warrior. I can tell you this game is much more healer unfriendly than it is melee unfriendly.
anima gear as source of progression would be good 2 months ago .
by the time it was upgradable to 197 people were already 200 +
now if anima gear would be upgradable atm to like 210 - but for increased prices of anima - like 197 ->203 lets say 2k anima and 203->210 5k anima - with raid bosses dropping like 350 anima each instead 35 - this would be good example of anima gear progression at this stage of game.
it would be this sweet spot - just below HC raids but enough to help people with push due to general lack of gear drops
sadly knowing blizzard they will implment something like this in may or june - when people will be already gone from game.
try tanking those then you will see how unfriendly it is when mobs can global you when you run out of def cds and team doesnt have enough burts kiting forever it is then. and i say it as class that can just kite for miles . its just not fun gameplay especially when in pugs they have no clue why you kite and whine tha they "cant dps this way " - because they know know how to burst aoe in 1 spot like BfA / Legion tought them .
You’re talking about casual players. Casual players have no need to be 200+ already.
But that’s not casual progression either. I do agree that anime drops for bosses and M+ should be increased though. 35/70/105/140 for raid based on difficulty, and 35+(5*key level) for M+ would already be good enough imo.
I’d say LFR is about as far as casual should go. You can play more difficult with a casual approach, but you can’t be casual and expect to get easy gear for normal and up.
I’ve done key pushing to +13 and 14 in the second week, so I know the pain with low ilvl and high keys, I’ve been trying to keep tanks alive (as healer). But I also don’t really pug, so not an issue for me
I think the main problem about Raider IO is not the fact that it shows how many dungeons you have done but tries to conjure some kind of rating for you. And this rating is all people actually care about nowadays. Simply clearing required dungeons is not enough to earn it.
