Ah, the glorious leader model of Utopiaā€¦ that ainā€™t happening.

So having started a thread about F2P, you now state that you want to pay for major features in the gameā€¦ despite that being the exact argument being made against F2P.
Didnā€™t take you long to loose your footing on the slippery slope, eh?

You sure you would be paying for itā€¦or would that be someone else?

Yes, Iā€™m very happy.

We are also susceptible to jaded opinions and nostalgia as we get older

Opinion, youā€™re welcome to it, but I disagree.
Also in that 12 years the subscription hasnā€™t budged. The game is huge and you are getting more for your money when the money is worth less if you factor inflation.

Again opinion. I disagree wholeheartedly.

If wow went f2p, a lot of mounts, pets and mogs would be redirected to the shop. Iā€™d rather pay the sub fee and have acces to all of it instead of having to spend 100 000 euros in the shop to get it.

Why not. Let them give us money also for beta testing a released product.

I donā€™t think that will happen, friend.

Please donā€™t

No, please donā€™t.

Why not???

add poor pvp to that :frowning:

while i agree with what all you said, i am not sure a pure f2p move would be right.

i personally dont like watching the 30 calender day countdown the moment i top up my account. it feels like i must play every available moment or i have wasted my money, which does something worse, waste my time.

maybe it would be hard to work out the right balance.

  • f2p will bring too many other issues like blizz complaining they dont have enough resources, and the guarenteed activision cash warehouse (a shop would be too small for them)
  • 30 calender days can work if you are playing loads of hours a day, every day. in that case youā€™re getting a MASSIVE bargin.
  • but a lot of people have things that come up where they might not be able to play for a week or two or whatever. that means that 25-50% that they paid for is just lost.

obviously a way that comes to mind is pay by the hour like they do in the eastern market, BUT this would need to be close enough to the cost of Ā£10 a month or it would not be worth it. the downside of that equation though is that you would only be paying like Ā£0.0001p per hour or something. also, it would mean that a 30 day sub could last a year or more.

blizzard will never do this. BUT in the same breath it can feel a waste if you are not playing every day, or couple of days.

i honestly dont know what the answer is that balances players and a businessā€™ interests.

You clearly dont understand how f2p mmos workā€¦

Literally 90% of those new mounts and sets you see would have to be added into the shop, so that blizz devs can actually make a living out of this gameā€¦

If you want them to work for free you are delusional

i get whgy you ask it since alot of service and shop stuff already cost real life money after already paying for the game+ expansions+ subscription.

But wow going f2p is what would kill wow. to keep the game alive they would replace subscription and the cost of the game with micro transactions and likely become pay2win

f2p hell no, with activision hellllll no

Blizzard losing her identity everyday.

Yeah no, if you hate microtransactions now what do you think would happen if WoW went f2p?

wow will have like 1000 microtransactions if wow went f2p . u whould have to pay real money for even a ressurect on a boss fight other wise death is perm .

Yeah, this one is going to be a cold categorical ā€˜nopeā€™ from me.

Given the sad, miserable state that the overwhelming majority of F2P titles are in, that makes me drop them cold as soon as I try them out and run back to WoW to rehab, I donā€™t want those practices anywhere near here. Even the idea of it is bad enough.

It has been my experience that in F2P games the devs are not focused on the game itself with all itā€™s elements, but are rather completely fixated about making store items as they pay the bills.
Thereā€™s a reason I, and everyone else around here, have willingly accepted to pay for WoW.

If this is what we get when we pay for it, I dread to see what would happened with the game if we stopped .
