Midnight character boost not working as intended

I received a support answer stating that “the necessary steps have now been taken to address the problem. In some cases, it may take up to 24 hours for the changes to fully take effect.”.

Could Felranys confirm that the fix has been shipped or if this is an automated AI answer please ? I still have nothing on my character.

Yeah, unfortunately nothing has changed on my side as well.

Still unable to play my evoker and I am starting to lose hope.

I will probably wait another few days, then ask for a refund and just buy the standard edition as if this is the state of what is to come, we might be in for a ride guys

No joy here, still missing reputation and currencies from the boost. Unsure on where to go from here beside wait, been playing the boosted character so wondering if I have to go the refund route and then re-boost a character and while that would solve reputation across characters would have to settle for transfer of currencies that I can.

Same here, I played the boosted character thinking we will get a fix at one point, and it is really unfortunate we might need to go the refund route.

Don’t even know what would happen with all that rep earned since the boost as well. Paragon rep rewards can’t progress towards

We’d really like to know if we have to refund to fix the issue now, especially since support could refuse a refund request if too much time has passed.

Good morning everyone!

I feel we need to divide this question in two sections, with different answers.

The boost service itself has been indeed fixed a few days ago, which means that new boost services should work flawlessly.

However, characters that did not receive the expected rewards (renown, currencies, etc…) will need to be fixed separately which will take some more time. I have no ETA to share, I can however confirm that plans are being made to identify and fix characters affected.

A fix for this issue is being worked on as well, but I have no information about how it will work or when it will be available :frowning:

The “best” option here is due to personal choice, so I can’t really vouch for either waiting for the upcoming fix, or asking for the possibility of a refund.

Just to set records right however I’d like to point out that refunds are considered on a case by case basis so we can not guarantee that every request on this regard can be fulfilled by our GMs.

I hope I managed to clarify a bit the situation, I am sorry for the lack of certain specific details but this is all the information we have to share right now :frowning:

We’ll update again as soon as we hear more.

I rather wait, not a big fan of asking for a refund if it could lead to trouble. It just sucks that we don’t have an ETA yet…Like, is it days or weeks or even months? :frowning:

Hi, thanks for keeping us informed. Would a more cost effective measure be to just give people affected another boost rather than having to tug on the dev’s sleeves and ask them to fix?

I’m not trying to be greedy, and I don’t know how game design works, but it might be more efficient? I assume you only have a finite number of devs!

I’m by no means an expert in making money like guys over at Blizzard but wouldn’t it be prudent to temporarily suspend the sale until all the problems have been resolved?

I mean to say you’re shooting yourself in the foot because each buyer is opening a fresh ticket with customer support because of what they were promised wasn’t delivered.

If I understood correctly, the boost now works as intended, so new applications of it should not cause any issue.

Unfortunately though, the people who boosted prior to the fix, still have not fully functional characters or missing renown/currency from the boost.

yeah we are stuck waiting for them to fix this, and it’s getting frustrating not getting what you paid for.

It is frustrating, I understand we are being told the issue is being worked on for those who did boost and still broken. Great those who boost now are going to be alright but a week after this all started we got nothing beside a promise it’s being worked on, no shade thrown at Felranys who can only report the information they have but it’s yeah, just frustrating

i hate to be THAT guy but
" Under EU law, for faulty goods or those not as advertised, sellers must offer a remedy, typically repair or replacement, within a two-year legal guarantee period. if repair is difficult or impossible to provide within reasonble time you can request a full or partial refund. You also have a 14-day “cooling-off” period to cancel and return online purchases without reason, though this has exceptions like personalized products." so when the character boost does not provide the advertised benifits…well, theres the pickle.

i know that this doesent help the GMs in thier work, heck the amount of tickets and hard work they put in i take my hat off, but theres the playerbase and community aswell.

Honestly if the problem isn’t fixed or we don’t have a clear ETA on when the missing rewards are coming, I’m just going to refund my preorder. Next tuesday the 14 day period ends, the fix will have to come before that.

My main fear is that now future boosts have been fixed, people affected by the initial error like myself will just be ignored as there are relatively few of us to make noise.

Then they can deal with the refund requests or for another boost to acquire the reputation catch-up. If there isn’t an update on a fix before 14 days is up, have to request a refund and go from there I guess???

And that is probably what I think it might happen.

Now I am not encouraging or saying that we should point the finger or throw a tantrum, but it all comes down to dev costs.

If fixing the issue for, let’s just say a random number, 5000 players, of which probably a small percentage will ask for a refund, why should they waste dev time to fix this and therefore waste money?

Ultimately, it’s up to us to try and get a refund or wait, but we have indeed bought a service that has not been delivered fully or, in most cases, broken. It is a shame because even if it’s a small thing, it kinda damages the brand image, at least in my mind.

Now, I am just speculating, and I hope I am wrong, but as I work in a “similar” industry, providing software for clients, if a feature is missing or it’s broken, and in the contract it states it should be there and working, a week time is not an ok time to wait.

TLDR: Issue probs too costly to fix. I’d just ask for a refund.

Hello all

While we still don’t have specific updates in terms of ETA for the deployment of fixes, I’d like to take this opportunity to share a couple of new details, and clarify a couple of points.

Let’s start with the details first:

  • For players affected by the missing renown/currencies after the boost was applied, the healing up of characters is progressing nicely and relatively fast. No specific ETA yet, but shouldn’t take too long now (e.g. days rather than weeks).
  • For Evokers missing talents and unable to access to certain parts of the game, the fix is actually more complex and will be deployed in a future patch - which means the waiting time will be probably way longer than for the problem above.
Evokers affected by this specific situation that do not want to wait can contact our GMs explaining the situation, and GMs will do their best to offer alternative solutions whenever possible.

Now to clarify a couple of points y’all raised recently

Nobody is being ignored, the devs are working on a fix to heal up ALL characters affected by the problems highlighted in this topic (e.g. missing renown or currencies).

Fixing characters affected by this situation is not considered a waste of devs time (nor money), a lot of man hours have been spent already on working on a fix… it’s just not as quick as pressing a few buttons or coding a few lines

Fair and understandable sentiment.
We are aware that this situation is not ideal and lessons have been learned, albeit sadly there is no way to go back in time to prevent this from happening in the first place - we tried asking Nozdormu for permission to go back and change things but he said something along the line of “Messing with the timeline will bring chaos and destruction upon the world” and “You mortal don’t even understand the flow of time”… shenanigans like that, we didn’t want to insist too much.

That said, involved teams have been doing whatever it is in their power to make sure this doesn’t happen again, and to fix affected characters.

We don’t expect this effort to eliminate frustration or paint the brand in a golden aura, we understand that there may be lingering resentment for the time being and we strive to do better in the future.

That’s all I have for now folks, we’ll update again as soon as we have further news.

Thank you once more for your patience, and please rest assured that nobody is being ignored here! :blue_heart:

This is good to hear, I shall stay tuned for a fix then.

Nah, I’ve seen enough Star Trek and doctor who to know it’s perfectly fine to mess with time, can’t fool me dragons
