Multiboxing? Why is this still possible?

I thought that multiboxing was a thing of the past but in Arathi today I’ve seen two Alliance and one Horde multiboxers.

Its really frustrating to see people being allowed to use 3rd part software to gain an advantage.

Or worse that they are infarct selling “levelling services” and using multiboxing to achieve this.

Maybe because mutliboxing isn’t against the ToS and is, and always has been allowed by Blizzard.

Multiboxing is allowed as long as it is the same player/account that is involved. It cant be used to sell leveling. Or, well, at least i dont think it can?

One player paying for multiple subscriptions?

Free income. It only makes sense to do something about it if more people quit over it than you get in extra revenue from the multiboxers. And hardly anyone actually quits over it, so there’s little reason to do something about it.

Company PoV, obviously.

You’re just jealous…

Why would you think Multiboxing would be thing of the past when technology improves and its much easier and cheaper to set it up?

Multiboxing is allowed. Not a big deal in my opinion. I saw 7 druids who moonfired me one-shotting instantly (: But they’ll be dead against 7 real players, so not a big deal in my opinion. I would be as dead meeting 7 real players.

why its still possible? because its not against the tos. this has been always a thing throughout the expansions and i suppose its here to stay.

however, i dont think that they are using multiboxing to sell leveling services though.

Why is it frustrating? How are they affecting your gameplay? Or is it only the fact of seeing them that bothers you that much zo stop playing and come here to make the 20th post about it?

I think you’re just envious and that’s a really bad trait

“Advantage” as in? Grabbing resource nodes/herbs ? Or what ?

Being able to level 10 characters at the same time.

OMG here we go again.

Its the same bloody threads every week.

Multiboxing? Why is this still possible?

Because it’s STILL a perfectly legit and accepted form of playing WOW.

I think it is a natural reaction to seeing someone else running 2-3 accounts, using clearly not skill (eg 3 computers 3 monitors 3 keyboards, or 1 computer and alt-tabbing and keying with a skill of a concert pianist) but instead some software which presses the right keys.

This is not Blizzard’s software, there are no Blizz forums to discuss about it, this software is completely independent. We have no say in it at all, neither has Blizz, it is out of our and Blizz’s control.

Sometime in TBC or a bit later (I cannot recall exactly when) Blizzard decided to stop addons binding spells and targets dynamically on to keys - during combat. If you stop and think what this did, it allowed you for example to heal a 40 man raid by pressing the same key repeatedly and which would heal whoever needed healing and with the right spell… I was top healer back then by spamming one button…

Now think why Blizzard put a stop to that and prevented addons from calling “protected” API calls and certainly preventing dynamic binding of spells to keys during combat. They did it because it provided semi-automation. The addon code would select the right raid member, it would select the appropriate healing spell, and it would bind it to one, same key. The player only had to press that same key.

This is semi-automation and Blizz put a stop to it way back then.

As I have maintained there is very little between multi-boxing and automation (botting). Blizzard allows multi-boxing because it sells more subscriptions (a multi boxer pays 2x 3x than a normal player).

So I can download the software to do it directly from Blizz then?

Its frustrating when you’re trying to quest and they can just grab/kill everything multiple times faster. Its frustrating when they all instant target you and you get burnt down in PvP.

If it wasn’t an income provider for Blizz it would have been banned years ago. Any other game I’ve played where by you use 3rd party software to automate the game play had been bannable.

Yeh, multiboxing isnt against ToS. But using third party program to operate/automate behavior of all characters is against ToS. Its no different from botting.

everyone can do it

No, its like addons. You install the game and get the rest from somewhere else.

It’s STILL legit though.

I get out-gathered by multiple players as well. Doesn’t make a lick of difference how many different people there are.

And in PvP its the same. If people are grouped up you don’t stand a chance either.

Oh get a grip ffs. Like Blizzard cares for paid accounts when they smash bots by the hundreds. Yeah sure, multi boxers only exist because of paid accounts… LOL :man_facepalming:

And in this game they don’t. :man_shrugging:

Yes but on different accounts. 10x income for Blizzard. Why would they ever try to stop it?

Blows my mind people actually defend multiboxing, it’s bannable in pretty much every game except wow. Anyway, in an mmorpg, what role do you play as a multiboxer? A flock of ret paladins?

It can but that’s not tied to the multiboxing. Both account sharing and accepting real money to boost someone his character is against ToS
