The proposed changes to Feral really are a shame.
https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/druid-class-changes-for-shadowlands-patch-9-0-1

  1. We get Barkskin but at the price of a massive nerf of survival instinct. At least for PvE, net loss in survivabiltiy.
  2. We get a reworked Bloodtalons that is … kinda okay? Meh? Don’t know, don’t play BT.
  3. We get Heart of the Wild. But what for really? To not deal damage in Feral form but as Moonkin?
  4. Mighty Bash gets nerfed because … reasons? I doubt the change will be very impactful but that makes it even harder to understand the nerf. It really just feels mean.
  5. We get Cyclone baseline (but can’t cast it in cat form). Still, this is probably going to be the only really useful change. [1]

A small advantage of Typhoon now coming with Balance Affinity is that we can have Typhoon and Mighty Bash.

Oh, and so far they haven’t announced a target cap for Swipe, I believe? But that is probably just because nobody ever remembers Feral druids exist…

At least it looks like we might get some more customisation options!

[1] What is the GCD for shifting? 1sec? Thus, for Cyclone, we spend 1sec (out of cat) + 1.7sec (cast) + 1sec (back to cat) = 3.7sec to set up a 6sec CC. That is a bit ridiculous…

in general its a 50% nerf yes

meanwhile balance druid gets it as baseline and we dont get bash baseline

im glad they didn’t and primal wrath aswell .

in same row as roots and bash , great idea (not really  )

not really cause you cant snapshot like now , it will only affect bleeds and not ST abilites anymore which like like 30% nerf

you forgot to mention that feral’s only utility which is roar for speed for raid/party is now class wide which makes feral even more usless than it is right now . Like i said blizzard favors resto druids . how about make symbiosis feral only? or treants for feral? natures swiftness? Leader of the pack as passive? savage roar baseline with soul of the forest?

Remove GCD of forms?

Blizzard read this please, i do not want feral to be another “We do not want you to play Demonology”

Yeah, true, and a good point. The changes to Feral in itself are very underwhelming but if you then consider the buffs that Balance and Resto got, it becomes a crapfest…

Yup exactly, utility is really poor at the moment

Yer, Updates or acknowledgment of these posts would be nice. We need preach or belluar to do another feral alpha video for shadowlands - no videos / updates have been added since beginning of April. But then again, no changes have been made, so whats there to update in the video? Though, belluar did a ranged classes win/lose vid, so perhaps the melee one will be out soon and shed some light on us all.

I wonder then what does Devs are doing and how the hell are we supposed to reach them if they are “listening to our feedbacks”, yet still the forums are abandoned by them.

I could understand them dismissing the threads if they were asking for feral to one shot bosses in shadowlands, but we arent, we are just asking for it to be at least a viable pick lmao.

i mean the thing is feral had the worst exp in BFA , we just want to be like other classes viable ,good utility and our bleeds actually doing damage and keeping our defensives as they are since boomy has 125% armor in moonkin , while feral has none if they remove survival instinct , why do they favor resto so much and balance i mean people say how balance druids got shafted but then again they will atleast be playable and not blacklisted by high end players like they did with feral . i want feral to feel wanted in content i want to bring utility have my defensives and damage thats all i ask for. i dont want guardian and resto doing more dps than me like in uldir when im forced to go balance cause feral is unplayable

and only utility we had blizzard decided to take away and give to everyone to make ferals completely usless , i just have this feeling that 1 dev in blizz hates ferals and wants the worst for them , while they give everything to rogues and other classes but im talking about rogues cause all high end meta players meme around and say “feral wants to be rogue” yes it is like that cause blizzard made us like that , back in mop druid had unique abilites , tranq , naturess swiftness = instant cyclone , sybiosis , huricane aoe channeled ability , bleeds doing insane damage , savage roar , treants . so much stuff but they just dont care

I will preface this by forewarning that I am a bit of a noob compared to many here with feral, but it has been my main since MOP. With that said, here is my take on what a cat should be and examples of what type of attacks/abilities I think should exist.
Right now the cat is bad at AOE and okay at single target so my focus is to make AOE viable with okay damage and one of the best DPS choices for single target. Make finishing moves feel like genuine finishing moves that definitely take a good chunk of health off the target if not actually finish them off. My bite doesn’t feel like it’s truly a crushing blow and it really should.
So, this is my take on how I think it could work. A lot of this is re-flavoring/retooling, but there are a few things that would be unique, namely “leap in, leap out” and how “Berserk” would work.
All of these abilities would be baseline at top level.

Single target:
Bunny kick(replaces Shred): When in range, you do a flurry of kicks that cause ticking bleed damage. You get more tics the more combo points you build. Awards one combo point.
Or
Achilles heel(replaces Shred): You slash at your targets ankles, causing them % slower movement speed for x seconds and applying a bleed tic. (Essentially the warriors ability) Awards one combo point.
Go for the jugular (replaces ferocious bite): A finishing move that does x amount of damage outright and a % more damage per combo point. At 5 combo points it applies a small bleed tic as well.
Rake: Same as current.
AOE:
Swipe: Same as current but uses less energy.
Flurry(replaces brutal slash):A finishing move in which you furiously swipe in all directions doing more or less damage depending on your combo points or maybe energy available to all targets in the radius.
Thrash: Same as current.
Single/AOE:
Leap in, leap out(replaces skullbash and mighty bash): You pounce towards the enemy to get close and do a slash that does very minimal damage and a stun that lasts x seconds. The target is also stunned longer if done while stealthed. Casting this again while on the same target caused you to leap away. (essentially a disengage) However If you switch targets and cast this ability, you leap to that target instead. Awards one combo point. Cool down after x uses.
(Leaping away from the same enemy could also reduce aggro for x time/%.)

Rip is taken away in favor of being able to do more crushing finishing moves instead of massive bleed overtime, making it more viable for shorter fights and still being able to apply plenty of bleed tics to get an affect like rip, but with having to cast more things for longer ones.

So you would have 3 abilities each for single or AOE along with one that applies to both situations with each attack doing small amounts of accumulative damage and one each that does quite a bit more damage as a finishing move, 5 of all the moves which build combo points.

Buffs:
Survival Instinct: I think this is fine as is. If the above abilities are too buffed for the feral spec, reduce the amount of damage taken to 30-40 instead of 50%
Berserk: Buff all of your attacks by % damage for x seconds. Flurry and Go for the Jugular to do extra % percent more damage than your other attacks.
Eye of the Tiger: Increases your max energy by x amount and reduced % energy cost of all your cat abilities for x seconds.
Roar of the wild (replaces Stampeding Roar): You increase yours and allies who are in range speed % movement for x seconds and bolster their next 2 attacks for X % more damage. If you target a specific ally, you increase that allies aggro and next attack (not ability) by X % more damage. (This could be useful in raids to help the tank get extra aggro and be used as a "Oh sh*t button when you might otherwise wipe. Also adds a unique usefulness to parties and Raids as Feral has a very meek ability to help allies in anyway currently.)

All passives should stay, especially Predatory Swiftness as if you build up the combo and cast a finishing move you get a free heal/tangle, which really really helps with survivability.
Talents can basically be similar to as they are now, that buff damage, energy or add a new move like cyclone etc.

I know this isn’t balanced which is why I left variables, but I think these moves would far better fit a cat, especially the ability to pounce on targets or jump away along with a “go crazy” button that goes from 0-100 freak out damage like cats can do for a short time. Berserk to me seems like it should be a sudden damage booster in it’s own right. If this isn’t well balanced or seems too OP, you could make Berserk a talent you could pick over something else instead of baseline.
I was so disappointed when I heard how they changed blood talons so far in SL. Don’t put things on a “if you do this in x seconds” just make it so that if you have the combo/rotation/energy, you can do the thing. I really hope that they take a good look at Feral and at least do something to make it not the laughing stock it has become.
I’m especially salty that Guardian as a tank spec does more damage. Tanks should soak damage and deal decent damage to keep up aggro. A feral should be able to do far more raw damage and have a lot less survivability when surrounded or taking on a boss. Aggro mitigation can come from the mobility ferals could have so that we’re not effectively turning into a “melee brain derp must be high dps 24/7 what’s aggro lol" problem.

No matter what, I hope the devs listen to all the ferals basically screaming that, this ain’t it chief and that the spec is effectively ignored or worse nerfed more than it is. Work harder and get less for it is just not okay for any class/spec. Especially for people who understand the class much better than the semi-casual players like myself and acutely feel how clunky and underwhelming you are for being a big a$$ ferocious cat. It makes no sense.

Im not asking for complete rework , im just asking for keeping survival instinct as it is 2x and if they are taking away stampeding roar and giving it to others give feral baseline vortex and typhoon. They can buff our mastery so our bleeds would feel like actual bleeds and not scratches and our finishers like actual finishers . Leader of the pack should be baseline not a pvp talent and try to get 50% of what it was in MoP . Feral AoE is not bad , we lack abit on single target but thats about it. its the utility that is the problem . and speaking of berserk they should just make Incarnation baseline (restealth) with Soul of the forest (5% dmg and energy regen which we will be missing since essences are gone in SL)
so with that both being baseline they can make a complete new talent tree , add treant’s there , HoTW and maybe Natures Vigil or Reworked Savage roar. they have time to fix the class . I know for a fact 1 dev prob hates feral spec and wanted to make it as usless as he could

This is all Feral needs 100% agree with everything written up there, so I’m gonna repeat it as well:

• Leader of the Pack baseline
• Mastery should be much more powerful
• Complete rework of Berserk (this is not even burst ability)
• Instead of removing Survival Instinct we should have 2 charges of it + Barkskin.

Done, feral is fixed.

Glad im not alone to see this .

You forgot:

  • Typhoon baseline

Then we can discuss whether or not Sabertooth should exist at all in it’s current form, and whether or not Bloodtalons should exist / be changed.

PS: They’re no longer removing Survival Instincts, but changing it to only one charge on a 4 min CD. A massive downgrade from today.

would love to see that since they took savage roar away from us

Typhoon baseline - Treeants optional with Balance affinity.

Agree. I would add: revert the Mighty Bash nerf. It is small but feels petty and irks me. Personally, I would also add Innervate to the list. It is always good to be the healer’s friend

Oh, and Cyclone needs to be castable in cat form. Otherwise the 3.7second effective cast time for a 6sec CC will likely mean it barely gets used.
