[N/A-RP] The Myrmidon - Elune’s Privateers
The sea beckons to those with the heart to brave its many perils. The Myrmidon, a privateering vessel under the guise of a respectable Darnassian merchant trader, is one such ship to hear the call in the Goddess’ name.
Now led by Captain Markus Brunswick, successor to Captain Saenon Stormwing, the bow points to turbulent waters, eager to taste its riches. It is through trade and other mundane tasks that the Myrmidon makes up the majority of its accounted wealth, but never has he or his crew shied away from taking arms to protect Elune’s realm - be it on land or by sea. And if they often manage to find coin on enemies and interlopers? Well, they won’t be needing it anymore.
It is the Myrmidon that sets sail to carry out less savoury holy tasks which would stain the robes of the Sisterhood and cause the upper echelons of Kaldorei society serious concern. The capable Worgen and Kaldorei that try their hand at employment aboard understand that they will be expected to do their duties without compromising the reputation of the ship - a reputation which was built with sweat, blood and tears.
Now with the Horde threatening Kalimdor and the Goddess’ realm, the Myrmidon have been pushed into drawing closer to the Alliance despite the ship’s long lasting distrust towards it. Still balancing on the “edge of legality”, behind closed curtains, Horde ships find themselves the target of harassment and raids with the sole explanation being “divine justice”.
All faithful Worgen and Kaldorei are welcome to throw their hands to further the Myrmidon’s cause of carrying out holy missions and gaining considerable coin on the side. Druids, fighters, carpenters and mages are all needed to continue the mission; be it through labour and repairs, sword swinging, spell slinging or wind calling.
Reformed criminals, otherwise lost causes and those with a burning desire for danger are all that make the Myrmidon the crew that it is; bound together by the need for adventure and their collective faith in Elune. Over time these ties draw tight, seawater becoming thicker than blood.
OOC: The Myrmidon has been a smaller, closely knit RP guild for most of its time now. With quality over quantity always being the mindset used in recruitment, well thought out and engaging RP is a constant.
All players, regardless of rank, are welcome to and encouraged to try their hand at DMing and create plotlines. Whilst there will be times where we rest our feet in various different hubs around Azeroth, DM’d campaigns are the typical way which the Myrmidon’s greater narrative is forwarded. This includes taking part in larger server-wide campaigns or guild collaborations.
Ranks:
The Myrmidon does have a ranked structure; whilst discipline to some degree will be expected IC in most scenarios, rank has never been a focus of the guild or an OOC reward. All players from the bottom to the top are on equal footing here when it comes to their inclusion in events and their right to DM. In some cases a player may be an OOC officer, whilst they hold none or lesser IC authority, they’ll have equal responsibilities and powers to the rest of the officer team.
Officers:
Captain: The highest authority aboard the Myrmidon; for thousands of years the rank of Captain has been passed down the Stormwing bloodline, a title which has always been granted to the next of kin. Unfavourable winds and dire circumstances have left the once exclusively Elven position in the hands of Markus Brunswick.
First Mate: The right hand to the Captain and second in command of the Myrmidon. If the Captain is unable to carry out their duty to the crew, it is for the First Mate to pick up where they have fallen short. The enforcement of the Captain’s articles and the protection of the Myrmidon are tasks held between both Captain and First Mate equally. Held by Ernya Stillcrest.
Quartermaster: The inventory and treasury is managed officially by the Quartermaster as well as leadership and disciplinary powers being granted to them. When it comes to the public face of the Myrmidon, his trading and bounty collection, it will be the Quartermaster who typically takes point. No occupant, delegated between Markus Brunswick and Ernya Stillcrest.
IC Leadership:
Arcanist: A magically capable Sworn who has demonstrated responsibility and excellence in their field. They’re entrusted with taking point in matters concerning the arcane by the First Mate and Captain and granted the duty of ensuring practitioners aboard the Myrmidon hold the arcane in the respect that it deserves and remain pure in the eyes of Elune. Held by Narilaes Starshade.
Stormcaller: A senior Sworn druid in the Myrmidon, one who calls the winds of Aessina to drive the Myrmidon across the waves to excellent effect no matter what the weather. They too act as an advisor to the Captain and in some cases a mentor to the younger druids in the crew. Held by Shan’do Sorrel Summerisle.
Sworn: The Privateers of the Myrmidon who have shown exceptional dedication and faith in their conduct. The Sworn are the oathbound protectors of the Myrmidon who have been rewarded for their service with the trust of their leaders and the responsibility to lead the privateers into action and inspire the crew when all seems dire.
Privateer: The rank and file of the Myrmidon, the crew which have been entrusted with full time employment and serpent banner. This encompases all who have been officially and legally recognised as a crew member - be it mage, druid, fighter or labourer. It is at this position that one earns regular payment and a fair share of additional rewards such as bounties.
Wisp: The untested and untried, whilst they work aboard the Myrmidon the wisps are given a pay which allows for some leisure as well as food provisions and a place to sleep. Yet they are not recognised as official crew and granted the legal protection that would keep the privateers out of trouble should the worst come to the worst.
Passenger: Those who have taken to the Myrmidon for the purpose of transport. Payment is required from a passenger for the Myrmidon’s services, however, it does not necessarily have to be in the form of currency. Should a capable passenger offer their services for passage, they may be granted a discount or a complete exemption from regular payments as long as their efforts are maintained to the expectation of the First Mate and Captain.
The Myrmidon accepts Kaldorei and Worgen into the ranks of Wisp and above, however; we’re open to RP with any race in the game as long as it is not a user of heretical magics (unless you’re an excellent secret keeper IC). Passengers still go through the same recruitment process as those wanting to be Wisps.
There may be some mature themes (ERP is against the rules) present in some events and intense emotional scenes. We ask that it be taken into consideration before taking part in these events, but warnings will be issued either way if deemed necessary.
The rules regarding OOC conduct within the Myrmidon are rather self explanatory and likely to be the same as any other guild which cares for its reputation.
-Players with a reputation for ERPing are likely to be rejected.
-Players who have trolled RP will be rejected and likely ignored.
-Whilst there’s no obligation to join in events or be active for any specific amount of time, we’d like for you to at least put some time aside for occasional events and casual RP. If you aren’t able to take part for a longer period of time, we’d like to know so it doesn’t interfere with the narrative.
-We ask that you treat fellow guild members and all other players with respect and kindness at all times.
IC punishments are exceedingly rare, but the crew employed are expected to follow Captain Saenon Stormwing’s Captain’s Articles: .argentarchives.org/node/190938) (Of course, OOC penalties won’t be a result of IC misdeeds. Conflicts resulting from well thought out RP can be fun for all involved).
(I had to remove the start of the address because apparently I can’t post links anymore but if you’d like to view it, it’s there.
If you’re interested in joining, RPing with or more information regarding the Myrmidon whisper Gustov, Ernyá or Sorryl.
