I already got a 5 day ban for posting in a thread like this. So I will refrain from sharing my opinion on the topic on this unfree forum (which Blizzard has every right to moderate as they see fit).

I did some reports on names in the past. A decade or what ago, some guy named his char JosephFritzl and was running with another char named ilikekids… fyi this Fritzl dude kept his daughter in his basement for 24 years for his own sick enjoyment.
Reporting a name like Halal seems a little steep, but people get offended at anything these days. Jewinoven, that I would have reported as well, because that’s just a step too far.
I can understand chuckling at the outrageous gesture of someone going that far, but the name itself really is just f-cked up.

The thing is, there is no such thing as “just names”. That’s like saying Hitler “just had an ideology” or that the the Klan “just like to kill black people”.
You guys should stop playing WoW and go out in the real world and meet actual people, maybe talk to them, learn their life stories. Because holy sh- it’s starting to smell bad from all the incel neckbeards in this thread.

I mean, those people actually actioned malicious deeds. Not really a fair comparison for my Monk called Windwanker who got mass reported. The name was completely harmless. I honestly don’t know how anybody could get offended by that. Back in the day, they wouldn’t have.

We’re not talking about those names, did you even read the thread? Or even the OP? We’re talking about names that insinuate harm becoming another group of people.

But it is. I was told by Blizzard it was against the T&Cs, which is what the post is about. Thing is, I got away with the name for a while until it received massive amounts of reports. I agree that names with “Jews” and “Fags” is probably crossing the line, but there are many cases where people need to just chill out.

I understand and i’m quite empathetic to this train of thought. But just a little bit if good news - quality of life is improving year on year for humanity. Less overall people are starving, we are living longer, educating more people and suffering from less prejudice and discrimination.
In regards to technology…I did some consultancy work for a luxury car manufacturer last year and while flying cars don’t make a whole lot of sense for the time being, electrification and driverless pods are very much on the horizon. (driverless taxi’s especially)
Do not lose hope 
Sounds like life won’t be so good for all the taxi drivers who lose their job to robots

Yeah I agree with you. The only names I report are those attacking other cultures or that use derogatory slurs. Also Swedish “dirty” names I report all the time because they are such an eyesore.
However, the person you replied to doesn’t share this view. This is a person that thinks the name “Jewinoven” is “funny”.
Doubt that will happen on a large scale since we humans like interacting with other people. Just look at Classic.
We just need to make sure these interactions are mainly positive for everyone.

Hmm I wouldn’t be so sure. Companies will do whatever it takes to save a dollar. Many people have already lost their jobs to computers already. Albeit not in the driving industry, but give it time. Hope it never happens, but that’s not what this post is about so I’ll say no more.
