You know, I think that there are actually talented, and even passionate writers working at Blizzard that you can sometimes spot a glimpse of.
But I feel like theyâre far and away from whoever is calling the shots for the progression and development of the game.
The usual soul-less corporate husks, coming up with the best plans to greedily milk the franchise with something as barebones and baity as Battle for Azeroth.
BfA had a lot of lore candy for people to get really hyped over (Faction war! Faction pride! Grey complex morality! Azshara, Nazjatar, Nyâalotha, Old Gods, Nâzoth!), underneath them though the substance of the product was just weak.
Oh, not to mention all the lies and false advertisement about it and the âyouâll have to wait to find outâ that has now been dragging on for years to squeeze those subscription feesâŠ
âŠScummy company is scummy.
Okay so, " Keyboard Lobster" - What? Why? Whereâd come from?
This is the most likely answer. Thereâs plenty of talent inside that company. Itâs just the corporate business. WoW was a different game when Blizzard was a small company made of a few talented and passionate people.
But even so, they should never forget that WoW made them who they are. They owe it to this game and the people who supported them for years to provide quality.
Keyboard because itâs using a keyboard.
Lobster, because itâs red.

But thereâs blue and grey lobstersâŠ?
And did you know that bio physiologically they are quite ingenious creatures?
Indeed!
And if someone wrote something silly along the lines of âBlizzard has a Horde bias and only writes this game for the Hordeâ I would have referred to the blue lobsters instead!
But no, weâve had to say that the Night Elves got their revenge in 8.1
I read that, got an itch, and suddenly felt very lobstery.
(For the record I'm not denying the Night Elves are getting spoiled with content, there is a lot more of it since the War of the Thorns. It's just not enjoyable content, nor it is the content most of their fans wanted. A bit like with the Horde, nobody wanted them going to war by being evil, but it's the content they kept getting)
I think while BFA was about destruction, SL will be about healing. A lot of the story will settle down one way or another.
Sure, but healing comes after youâve closed the wound.
The Night Elven genocide by the Horde is still unresolved.
Rastakhanâs death is also still unresolved.
I would honestly prefer focusing on these still-open storylines than going into the Retconlands of death.
Miss me with the healing and the forgiveness until then.
Iâm 99% convinced Sylvanas will become the new Jailer after âShadowlands are FREE!â.
They wonât butcher one of their biggest cash cows, and the fact that Nelf fans get the Nathanos kill thrown as a bone makes it very unlikely that they will get Sylvanas too.
Tyrande will give up on her revenge plans after a stern talking-to from Anduin.
And judging by the way horde leaders like Lorâthemar are already fangirling over Calia, it seems inevitable that Forsaken fans are stuck with her for goodâŠ
So in the end nobody gets what they want and everyone will be unhappy. Business as usualâŠ
Making her the Jailor is butchering her anyway, imo. Because she will remain in SL, aka irrelevant for all days.
We donât know that yet. Nathanosâ story is not finished.
Anduin is showing a very dark side in Shadows Rising, donât count on it.
If we are to make a correlation with âthe boy king servers at the masterâs tableâ hope I quoted that correctly, I feel like Anduinâs story is about the begin.
Boldly said⊠but I remain⊠unconvinced ![]()
Calia has a story in this but she wonât be leading the Forsaken.
As someone whose favourite race are the night elves and third favourite character is Tyrande , I am really glad to see her killing that bully.
I suspect itâll be the deathbringer video.
Iâm currently clinging on to some Evil Light expansion that allows the Horde to roundhouse kick her out.
But canât help but feel they are indeed easing her in step by step.
And the only reason they havenât done so already, is because theyâve acknowledged that people do not want that.
They must be sitting in their office waiting on the creation of some other carrot that distracts players enough to allow them to slip her in like they did with Gazlowe.
Well, this is not the only story which could be told after the addition of this character.
I have a feeling this whole âsome forsaken asked her to lead them into the allianceâ was not for nothing. Although this story canât be told yet.
Besides, this Voss denial phase seems like a part of typical âheroâs journeyâ story.
Well, there is a more complicated story happening among the forsaken. There are Voss and Calia. Who are friends while there is peace. But there is this whole duality of the forsaken thing.
We have Voss, who wants to go forward and blames the alliance for what the forsaken are, represeting the forsaken going into their future. And Calia, literally being a ghost of the past, representing desire to cling to past lives and maybe even reunite with the living.
So, you know, when you do not have Sylvanas, how do you keep the forsaken âanti-allianceâ? Well, one way would be to kill all alliance sympathisers. Another - give them a path to physically quit this branch of the forsaken. So, only those who want to leave their former lives in the past would stay.
So yeah. While the devs could keep Calia in the horde and change what the forsaken are forever, there could be another story. A story of a rather painful reunion, full of hopes and regrets, where Calia âhelpsâ to keep some the forsaken as what they were.
Except that this story canât be told for now.
(shoutout to Taliesin as my source of âalliance forsakenâ idea)
Lets agree even themselves donât know what they want to do with the Forsaken. This is caused due to them not building the Forsaken for over 16 years, except Sylvanas. Now salvaing all that wonât be as easy as bringing back a nobody-character aka Calia. To even think her useless surname name or her non-existent birthright would mean anything to the Forsaken whoâve becameâŠwell, the Forsaken after all the events theyâve went through, is lazy writing at best, and downright not caring at worst.
Broâthemar.
I guess, yes. It doesnât help that the community is so split nowadays after the whole Sylvanas mess.
Ah well, what to do. We can only hope for a decent outcome.
Itâs hard to say if anything could be done. Maybe Ionâs approach âlistening to feedbackâ could propagate further. Who knows what to do about it. Maybe be civil but vocal about things people do not like. Maybe discuss alternatives.
Like, with this Calia thing. Suggesting to kill her as soon as possible if the devs have some plans for her is pointless. But idk if itâs doable to convince anybody that there are other ways to continue this story without contradicting anything.
At least I found it fun to explore the topic and chat with people. There are some interesting hidden gems. Like this theory about possible role of Menethils in the future. I do not agree with everything, like Taelia being the daughter or Calia losing her role because of her death, but the fact that the game contains such crazy possibilities is very interesting by itself.
Oh well, maybe I should promote more of this âalliance forsaken ideaâ. Itâs actually a good alternative to Calia staying in the horde. Or they could keep her in the horde and we could lose the forsaken archetype. Would be sad actuallyâŠ
But fortunately there is hope. Well, they turned her from neutral to friendly to the alliance in beta, so that is a pleasant start.
I donât necessarily agree. I mean having Calia in the Horde is no achievement but having Forsaken in the Alliance is pretty lame too.
Iâm against homogenization of factions. Thereâs plenty of funky stuff to give to the Alliance, Forsaken should be strictly Horde.
Lightforged undead is just a lame concept imo. Calia should have never existed in the first place.
Indeed, besides, thankfully, there is just the one lore abomination ; Calia Menethil herself, there are no other such, and most if not all of the Forsaken that actually wanted to defect to the Alliance died anyway.
Well, depends on how you look at it. Narratively we had stories about some forsaken either willing to reunite with someone, or who just want to help after everything what the forsaken did. So⊠yeah, itâs possible to kill this story line. But itâs just very dramatic, so it would be interesting to see IMO.
Well, once allied raced started to appear, it seemed to be the alternative instead of to âno more factionsâ. At least there are no troll in the alliance. Yet ![]()
Well, sanâlayn would be perfect match to void elves. Then there are stories about some forsaken desperate to join the living, although that would be a painful reunion. Who else though?
Well, think about, say, Thomas Zelling. Sure, Voss is anti-alliance, so she would say âthe living can no longer accept youâ. But⊠if they could. Why would you deny him a chance? ![]()
Well, heâs dead⊠again. But there could be others.
They might not be lightforged. Itâs a trade off [using the light]- could feel some emotions, but also be more away of personal decay. I have no idea what would be the fantasy behind it.
IMO she could be an amazing character. But⊠I canât see her working in the horde, like, at all. She is so out of place and clashes with so many things there. Now, in the alliance she is just a good fit.
That is a problem for her being in the horde. But that is a good thing if she would be in the alliance. Like, regular people would not accept a typical undead. But she is not a typical.
Iirc only limited amount could go during the gathering [not everyone]. So, I am not sure what is your source. But if you can share - plase do.
Come on, I do not think anyone would mind if she joins the alliance ![]()
Edit: too many âwellâ this time⊠I guess I should not write things during raids next time xD
