But it is a popular fantasy choice. Your character has an ashblond hair option as well.
We’ll see how well this go. Their 1.5. updates were luckluster often when it comes to the Alliance, especially the heritage armors which miss the physical engine bits on them (and the Worgen could have really needed this for the pocket watch) compared to the Tauren/Goblin-armor.
Because he is of the dominant 90% of the entire High Elf Species, it only follows that the core races get more attention and options, than people who want to play a customisation of an Allied Race.
Not the Allied Race itself, but a customisation of the Allied Race.
I’d be pretty annoyed if I was someone who actually played and liked a Void Elf right now. The effort seems to have solely gone into these High Elf customisations and nothing really for the Void Elves, and yet that is -not- enough?
Like I said many times before I would love a high elf tag or a arcane racial but it’s not realistic. But Asking for Tattoos or feathers would be awesome tho but we just have to wait if we get those or not.
It’s just another compromise for team blue which they definitely don’t have earned. Will you settle for less too in a what-if scenario where you dislike the belves but play a velf exclusively? I think not.
If they want to go full “high elf” on both sides, then they must give the velves also a blond hair option. Otherwise the elf wars continue into the next decade.
But the problem there is that people are asking for customisations to turn Void Elves into High Elves, even changing the racial name and racials.
That just is not playing cricket. This thread title is misleading. Apart from two posts it has not been about customization options for Blood Elves and Void Elves at all, has it, if we’re being honest. It has -all- been about how to make Void Elves into High Elves.
You can even see it in the throwaway comments “oh, and the Blood Elves can have Red eyes”
Gee thanks.
Or rather, ‘No thanks’.
It isn’t a discussion about Blood Elves and Void Elves, but yet -another- discussion about High Elves.
Thats the point I’m making here. I mean check a couple of posts above “And give options for Tattoos and Feathers”
Why? What is High Elven about that? What is Void Elven about that?
If anyone says “But Alleria” I will lore slap them so hard…
Black hair
White hair
Dual toned hair (purple and blue, black and blue, black and purple, black and green)
The option to have the void tendrils end in dark space graphics a la the actual void rather than their wierd glowstick look.
Near-black blue and purple skin
“N’zoth blue-purple” skin tone
Grey skin (between the blackish and near white skin ATM)
Dark purple skin (like faceless ones)
Black eyes
Orange eyes with black ridges (think nzoth without the freaky pupil)
Very dark blue eyes with dimly glowing blue, purple or grey pupils
Star details in the eyes
Options for void scars (tears on the flesh with starry night detail underneath, or glowing purple) on the face, body
Options for small void growths like small gnarled spikes on the chin or forearms.
Hair styles that aren’t flat like a emo teen whom overapplied styling products, but upwards pointed almost tendril like hair styles that involve eerie movement.
Tattoos remiscent of the Nya’lothan script, available in black, dark blue, dark purple, glowing blue, glowing purple, glowing orange.
Let’s not let the unique niche that is “cosmic horror space elves” get left out.
Well, I did not expect any less from these elf-topics. Alliance- and Horde-fanboys alike either hump each other with pleasure or urinate on other posts like they have participated in a drinking contest in Khaz Modan while still thinking that the world is going to end tomorrow.
Definitely feels awkward to be in the middle here but I do understand where the Alliance-players are coming from and I also lend my support to them because, looking back at these elf wars the past years, the Alliance-players have been screwed over and over again. From all the impossible and sheer fanatic requests we have witnessed the past months so far these are certainly the most hilarious but also desperate ones I personally would grant them as a game developer, just because.
Ion certainly did himself no favor when he smirked his way out with the “the Horde is there waiting for you”-phrase and how he paddled back on the upcoming changes with “this was always the plan!!1” comment later on but who knows, maybe the hand of fates reaches out to the desperate Alliance helves and give them what they always wanted: Closure.
But I do agree with the tattoo-sentiment of yours. It’s an Alleria-thing and it was a mistake to give her these. I always wonder why nobody brings up the voice files when it comes to the Velves = Helves discussions but I guess most of the users are just here for the looks.
I do appreciate the options given, it will allow the race to have two fantasies to it, one which is missing a playable part since the start of the game in the Alliance. Since Blizzard hasn’t started to focus on Allied Races yet, it’s to early to call and complain about the lack of Void focused Void Elf customization, because the only new thing they did for Void Elves were the eye colors, because the skin tones are just ported from Blood Elves. Give it time and Blizzard will deliver the Allied Race customization.
I want both void and normal themed customization for them regardless, i’m a fan of both fantasies.
Take care folks, the ultimate lore master is here, you don’t wanna get lore slapped.
The irony of you quoting a sentence saying “I’d” as its very first word, and then asking me to speak for myself, is colossal. I mean that is exactly what I was doing, speaking for myself, thank you very much.
To be honest, if anyone tries to claim High or Void Elves should get Tattoos and feathers because of Alleria, then I will utterly school them on the lore.
Why do you post from a level 10 Blood Elf by the way, do you have a main, or are they on a forum vacation? I mean you are allowed to have an opinion on your main as well as a level 10 Blood Elf that has not altered for a while now.
But yes, I rebuff your snide rejoinder by stating that anyone citing Alleria as a reason for Tattoo’s would get a truncated explanation as to why that doesn’t mean High or Void Elves alone should get them.
You seem to show a lore of pride and esteem on your lore knowledge, should try applying for a writer in Blizzard.
My main is on NA.
There’s reason for Blood Elves and Void Elves to get tattoos and feathers, i’m not going to be fastidious about it, because Blizzard don’t seem to be either regarding customization. Overly relying on lore to barrier customization hasn’t worked, and it will keep failing as Blizzard has rewritten lore for meta and character customization reasons, including racial-class combos.
Whilst the idea has its appeal, I think the writers are hamstrung a lot in their creative abilities, and I don’t work well in that environment, I either want to work knowing I have full creative freedom, or work where I know that I am constrained by a set narrative, neither of which Blizzard seem to afford its writers, but some half-way house which ends up not making so much sense.
That explains it, thank you. That isn’t sarcasm, it just explains why to me.
I happen to agree. What I was objecting to was this idea that just because Alleria has it, it was somehow a High Elf thing, and should be used to differentiate them from Blood Elves.
Of the Elves with tattoos that we see, not a single one is a post-exile High Elf.
High Elf Ranger units in WCII used warpaint (Red even though they were fighting the Horde).
The Blood Elf on the TBC box art which is apparently Kael’thas, but even if not the elf himself, was a Blood Elf, has facial runic tattoos.
Rommath has arm tattoos
Alleria also has facial warpaint (Looks a bit painful to have been a tattoo) however she left Azeroth during a period of time before the Scourge, so before the Schism of the Thalassian people. She was never forced to make that decision, whether to become a Blood Elf or be exiled as a High Elf, so we will never know which way she would have jumped on that.
Given her willingness to absorb powers of cosmic entropy and destruction, it seems unlikely she would have had a problem with draining mana from living creatures.
So we have Rangers with Warpaint, and Mages with tattoos,
90% of them are now Blood Elves.
So yes, by all means a neat addition to High Elves, but -only- if they are also added to Blood Elves, as otherwise the lore is all a bit crazy there.
I think we have to differentiate arcane markings from war paint, as a whole people call them tattoos as a umbrella term.
There are things about development that don’t have much relation to lore, why Blood Elves and High Elves didn’t had tattoos in the game? Who knows, no other playable race had tattoos back in the day either, Blizzard probably didn’t had the tools to make them, nobody knows, they are a super new thing to players, Legion Allied Races were the first to introduce them.
Rommath? He’s a important character, understandable why Blizzard would give him something unique to differ him from other Blood Elf NPC’s. Perfect fine to ask for Arcane Markings as tattoo customization for Blood Elves, but the issue is that, well, Void Elves also seem to have magisters, but i think for differenciation sake, make the Void Elf tattos to be more chaotic in shape, not organized, more like the Warlock Class Hall chest piece tats.
Alleria? Think of yourself as an artist working on Alleria’s model back in Legion, bringing a character back from Warcraft 2, what other High Elves had in Warcraft II? War paint, why not include them in Alleria? The artists probably had this line of thought. This was important because after years of not representing Thalassians with tattoos they decided to return to the roots of the race in Warcraft II. Make the Blood Elf war paint to be red, orange and gold, and the Void Elf blue, violet, silver.
