So basically with those hair colors they will look like skinny night elves. And there’s no more customizations coming. They are done and allied races it wasn’t said they will be updated in Shadowlands. They only got a few options so they won’t feel completely forgotten.
Edit: plus some of the hair colors are already in game and currently void elves have almost no variety, the hair colors you posted have almost again no variety. I’m not trying to be negative but hair colors need a bit variety
I don’t have the capacity to represent the distinct colours as I forsee them. The variety is in the fact of dual tonage (poorly represented by my means of art). I’m trying to remain within the void thematic.
it’s my wishlist, which is what this thread is about. I’m not here to post what others might like, i’m here to post what i’d like- which is the entire point of the thread is it not?
“so they’re basiclaly skinny night elves” is a wierd comment in a thread that seeks to have velf have options to make them look exactly like blood elves. What’s the problem if they have similar hair colours?
Please chill with the “no more is coming” doomsaying. Maybe there will be pre-live, maybe there won’t be, unless you’ve got the keys to the future or the blizzard development office you can’t know for sure. This thread is simply a place for people to share their desires because blizzard have indicated they are watching such threads because they’ve been enthusiastic about how energetic people are with customisations and seek to make it an ongoing thing throughout SL.
I would rather the thread remains focussed on that than a “well they’re not adding anything anyway so whatever” mopefest.
I was just saying my opinion. I never said your opinion is bad I like it actually. And considering we are in beta and there’s been 2 builds with 0 options I can only assume they are done. Keep in mind alpha had new options every build.
Edit: I want to believe more will come, but blizzard promised a lot of things and never added them. That’s why. And I don’t want to hold on such big hopes only to be disappointed in the end
Edit: and the hair colors aren’t bad and I understand you want to stay with the void theme but there can be more variety like pinkish white, violet, magenta etc.
The Beta load will be slower on this side of things because attention has to be given to the systems they are testing.
The systems need to be in working order. Customisations are a “when it’s done, it’s done” deal, there’s no feedback loop. They may listen to feedback to generate them, but they don’t modify them, then change the hairstyle based upon player feedback, then submit it for testing, that’s not how it works.
It would be a colossal waste of oppportunity to have your efforts poured into developing such at the exact moment you are beginning to invite players into the game to test the systems- you need to act on that feedback quickly.
Alpha will always present more variety because alpha is when the game is largely not being tested properly, so it’s about volume to give the beta players an appropriate sandbox to test. Beta is primarily focussed on tuning the sandbox ready for release.
More options will come in later in my opinion, but they will take a backseat to the systems and the artwork/aesthetics around those systems and the areas of the game players are actively testing. You don’t need players to test customization.
Yeah blizz have made bad on promises in the past, but that doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily do the same this time. We don’t know either way. What I do know is players are expecting a lot of SL and unless blizzard are completely out of touch, they know this, so they’re not heading into SL lightly, they’re just taking their time to get it right.
And as much as i love the customisations i would rather they ensure the core systems of the expo are functioning properly, balanced as far as they can etc to avoid a release BFA repeat. I personally can wait for customisations to be rolled out over time or have info delivered later, but I do want the game on release to actually have a decent system and I want to know what’s coming in advance.
Well let’s hope. All I want are golden jewelry for Night Elves, more highborne jewelry and more regal/styled hairstyles. And for the high elf fans the hair colors for void elves so the high elf requests can finally end once and for all (I won’t be using the high elf options by the way)
I don’t think you actually -can- go beyond Arrogant without being Solipsistic, and I do actually think you are all real people, not constructions of my own ego, so not sure I would say ‘beyond Arrogant’.
I also don’t ‘think’ I know the best lore out of everyone. I ‘Know’ I know the lore better than ‘many’. Not all, but many.
Lets face it, lots of people on the forums are quite honest about the fact that they don’t know or care about the lore, then you have people even streamers supposedly reputed for their lore videos going “Well Blood Elves are fel junkies who all drained fel”, so they clearly don’t know their lore, and people going “High Elves have always been in the Alliance” and all sorts of nonsense.
So yes, I know the lore better than those people do. I’m not encyclopaedical on the lore by any means, just that of a few of the in game playable species that interest me.
I think that would be easy enough to incorporate across the board for all elven races, the Arcane Tattoos look very runic and lines, (much as Futhark runes or Ogham runes in our world) and as such are angular things of straight lines, Warpaint however could look more contoured, Like Alleria’s, or simple like Some of the Dark iron options, and the Mag’har or Dwarf options, something Celtic in their style. Blizzard have shown they can do it.
I agree, and NPC’s should always have a separate ‘look’ that cannot be emulated by a player, not completely, But that’s kind of my point, the reason people have latched onto Warpaint/tattoos as a ‘High Elf’ thing is because of Alleria, and there was some excellent artwork on the Original Quel’dorei Megathread (Which was a bit more productive than this one sadly) in fact I think the artwork originated from your side of the pond, and it was excellent, I mean not just conceptually, but the artistry itself, and it was inspired on Alleria’s slightly celtic look.
I remember thinking “Thats Elves, thats how I see Thalassian Elves”
Next thing you know, people are going “Yay, Thats what High Elves look like to make them different from Blood Elves” and it all soured, I was like “For real? The Exiles who go and live in civilised cities look more tribal than the ones who are allied with Clans and Tribes who use warpaint and do that stuff? Why not both types of Elves?” “No, its a High Elf thing only!” “How did you work that out?” “Because Alleria” sighs and moves on
Sort of like discordant fractal patterns? I like that… I like that a lot.
That works, but I’d throw in green instead of orange, for Blood Elves, for those real die-hard Ex-Sunfury Warlocks who can’t let it go, and Absolute stark Black, like blacker than black, Vantablack I think its called, instead of Blue for the Void elves, as otherwise its not really gonna show up, but as an alternative swap the Violet for deep blue, so that those who use the High Elf skins can get the benefit of it, and have that ‘Alleria’ look.
I think it could be done in a way to keep both sides happy, to be honest.
This said, we don’t know what the end results will be, as things are still in the works, especially with regards Allied Races, so maybe the hair colours will prove a popular enough idea to gain some traction? It would make sense.
If you say so. But from all your posts it’s clearly showing you were trying to say “I know best the lore”. I said this before I don’t know the lore fully but when it comes to elves and their history I do know it pretty well. But I never said I know it best. Elves are just my specialization.
Nah, I’m just saying I know it better than most, which I will stand by. Thats not arrogance as such, thats just like “I know this better than someone who doesn’t know it”. If someone turned around in a conversation and went “Think you’ll find I know how to play the Guitar better than you do” I’d be like “Yep, you almost certainly do,” Doesn’t make them arrogant for saying it. Likewise if I went “I think you’ll find I know a lot more about International Money Laundering than you do” the chances are high I am right, because I used to investigate that stuff and how it works for a living. Just means you’re going “Actually, I do know an awful lot on the subject, let me just correct a few points there”
Its a shame you missed the original High Elves as Alliance race thread, I had some storming ideas (In my opinion) that the Pro Helfer’s loved.
I know I can come across as ‘anti’ the idea, I’m not. I would not bat an eyelid if they announced High Elves as an Alliance Allied race tomorrow, I am however against some of the “And we need this, and this, and this, and who cares about Customising the Void Elves, we’re all going to be playing them as High Elves anyway, they should rename the Allied Race!” mentality.
Actual High Elves I have always been very affirmative about.
Just not at the cost of taking away from an existing Allied Race.
One problem is that none of the currently available void elf hair colours look like anything that high elves have. Another problem is that many of us have already made our high elf designs based off of the options we know are available to the high elf NPCs.
Almost. If you wear a headpiece that hides the hair, and choose to ignore the eyebrows. But we’re still hoping for those final touches.
Working on it, but it’s not that easy to organise hundreds of people on one Discord into a unified front.
That thread is crazy, and the OP there has unrealistic views. Which is why I apandoned it.
Believe it or not, but I’m a HUGE void elf fan. My two void elves are freaking awesome, each in their own right. Look at Azrathel. The name, the gear, his mount (lucid nightmare) and he has a void tainted mana whelping. Eye of N’zoth is of course there, and it even fits his mog seamlessly. Love it. That’s my main, and he’s going to remain that throughout Shadowlands.
And yet, I want the options to allow the full high elven features. To be honest, I really don’t think void elves are lacking anything. They were one of the better made allied races from the start.
You’re familiar with the high elf request, and that some of us really argued against the compromise of adding high elf options for void elves because it would mark the end of all hopes of playable high elves as a race of their own. Now, this compromise is a reality, and even though I was originally against it, I’m actually quite thrilled now. Because it looks like a fairly good chance of playable high elves actually happening, within the void elf allied race. And to be fair, the OP was always about high elf options for both existing playable Thalassian races (if we ignore how a blue eyed blood elf isn’t a high elf).
But the thing is High Elves WILL NEVER be added as a stand alone allied race. That’s why people want both the skin and hair colors for void elves. And with these options void elves won’t be turned into something else. They are still gonna have their void forms in combat and tendrils in their hair. And also there are void elf players (I’m more a night elf/highborne player but I do have two void elves) who will still play the race with the void base skin and hair options.
I just went through the wowhead dressing room for the velves and we didn’t get anything good. The current hair styles clashes too much with the fair skin options. Secondly, the tentacles also kill the overall looks.
I actually liked the idea of having a helf-option for the Alliance but this is a big pass for me. We simply don’t have enough options available to make them look acceptable. And don’t get me started on the “helf blue eyes”, they look awful on both of them (belf/velf).
I love how your statistics change every time, it used to be 96.4% that you said were Horde. I love how you intimately know their employment details at Blizzard Headquarters yet are constantly unable to provide a shred of evidence.
Perhaps you can explain to us how the numbers work. How many Developers work at Blizzard? I mean 95% is a very specific figure, you can’t round it down, like you can 75% or 50%, (Because you can just say, ‘Three quarters’ or ‘One half’ so this means you think there are 100 Devs at Blizzard, or 200 even?
You see how ridiculous you make things look when you present such figures. Stop it. You’re making it embarrassing to log my Alliance characters in case people associate me with “Muh Horde Bias!” type posters.
So uh, what happened to the 1.4% above 95% you claimed were Blizzard Devs who were Horde? Did they retire? Were they the victim of a tragic industrial accident where they were bitten by a radioactive human male Paladin and became an Alliance main instead?, wow, that would mean there must be a load of Devs, if your original figures were correct, I mean Blizz HQ would be standing room only…
If they’re ERP’ers then I don’t imagine they’ll care, its not proper RP and doesn’t belong on the server, or any server for that matter, so what they want can frankly go hang.
Don’t encourage him.
But hey, at least an Alliance Allied race is getting some compromise.
Tumbleweed blows past the Nightborne Never complain, when you’ve got it better than others.
Well, you’re posting from a Vulpera on Earthern Ring, I’m not surprised. Roleplay died on that server a long time back, so naturally you’re just left with OOC players and those with certain -proclivities- shall we say.
Thankfully Argent Dawn’s Silvermoon remains a bastion of actual Roleplay, one of the two main Hubs for the Horde. The Bazaar area is annoying, as it is full of OOC’ers, but everything east of Murder Row is grand.
Blizzard, please! When you’re on the task of updating blood elves, could you please, please, please update Silvermoon as well? This city is loved by players, and could easily ease Orgrimmar’s burden and reduce lag and sharding. It would probably be the most welcome zone update in the game’s history.
