New customization options for blood elves and void elves

I think he would hate that… or love that, I am young and if he was me he would not be such a boomer.
I just like lore questions.

This is true, but as said, she was at first injected with a small amount of void. It was only after that (and about 500 years or so I think) that she started to cast void. She did not do it before being injected - this is also before absorbing the naaru thingy.

She did cast void spells and made void rifts and such before the naaru. But she only got her purple glowy form AFTER the naaru.

Appearantly they will… how they will have so, I dunno. Maybe you don’t need to to be exposed to so much void in order to gain that power, despite this being what blizzard clearly have implied earlier.

Usage of void spells is not out of the question before such a massive exposure to void, this much I know and is shown in the story itself, Alleria made considerable use of the void. But again, it is the glowy purple form which was implied to be out of reach before the fallen naaru was absorbed… again implying a need for a huge source of void.

There are storytelling in visual cues and that tends to be forgotten. Before the naaru Alleria does not use that void form at all, probably because she did not have it. After the naaru she uses it liberally, so indeed, rational inference would have it that it should not be possible to use the void to such an extend before.

But blizzard with this new option unlocked clearly says otherwise.

Original…

I suspect I have the misfortune of being older…

Name another Allied Race that is getting updates. Now name another Allied Race that is not satisfied with these updates, but wants ones that belong to a core race?

There aren’t any.

That’s your problem. Void/High Elves want the Blood Elf stuff -as well as- being the only Allied Race that is getting an update. Don’t you for a moment see how bad that looks? The precedent?

We were told for ages that High Elf skins for Void Elves would be enough. That is happening. It did not even take a day before people are demanding extra classes, Blood Elf Styles, Blood Elf Hair colours.

What -is- there about the Blood Elf Core race that has not been asked for by some Pro-High Elf person?

(I’ll give you a short answer. Nothing)

Some want Tattoos still because Alleria, despite her not having even -been- on Azeroth when the schism happened.

This is exactly the thing that High Elf Fans promised would not happen, and it didn’t even take 24 hours before it did.

Fantastic. They didn’t want High Elves. They wanted Blood Elves but playable as Alliance.

Basically two Races for the slot of one. So where is the Horde alternative?

I mean if the High Elves are getting all the Blood Elf stuff, then what new stuff are the Blood Elves, the 90% of the Race getting as a compensation for this?

Don’t you see the problem. An Allied Race has a unique option that no other Allied Race on Horde or Alliance has gotten, and this is -still- not enough? They want -everything- that a Core race has?

Answer me that.

  1. What are the other Allied Races getting?
  2. What -extras- are the Blood Elves getting, so that the High+Void Elves suddenly don’t get all their options?

Core Race>Allied Race. I thought everyone understood that, until now, when truly, a half mile has been given, but that is not enough, now it must be absolute parity with a Core Race.

I am truly beginning to see why this may have been a bad idea, and I supported High Elves for Alliance. Not High Elves plus other options.

So yeah, those two questions. If you can’t answer those, then you have right there, the problem.

:open_hands: One more time for those in the back. :open_hands:

Thank you for putting that to words allot nicer than I have.

The thing is also, that this trend doesn’t end up being more lore development, it ends up as your picked character in essense, just being that, a blank slate/ just a ‘skin’ - Everything will be the same, nothing unique, no background, because in the end it turns out it’s about just that ; The Model, screw the rest, screw the story, the background etc.

Everything will become bland and stale if this continues, homogenization doesn’t lead to anything you’d look for in an RPG, for what’s left of it in WoW.
I was really hoping to see them bring back more of it, not see them turn everything into a mush sandbox….If people would think critically about the implications of this and look a bit further than just ‘Gimme the Belf options’, they might see what I was getting at.

And no, I’m certainly expecting Nowhere near the same attention for HM tauren, Vulpera, Dark Irons, Zandalari Trolls, Lightforged Draenei or MechaGnomes.
The rest, are relatively easy to come up with stuff for, especially if they’re going to copy paste anyway - The ones I mentioned will take more thinking out of the usual box.
And I’m not even expecting this much for some of the core races anymore either, certainly no explanations or actual lore on why we have these customizations, like Wildhammer for example - Because if it’s just about looks, then why bother with coming up with a story anyway.

Thank you Blizzard this is all we wanted.

Now where is that Blood elf guy i can’t name who used to fight so hard here on the forums against the Alliance ever getting the High elves?
Have anything to say now?

Don’t know who you’re writing about, but I do have something to say;

Void Elves are getting some Blood Elf skin colors and blue eyes - That’s all, I’ll let it process a bit.

There is nothing nothing to process and nothing you can say changes the facts. Void elf with blue eyes and normal skin color is essentially High elf.

So is blood elf with blue eyes? Even more so?

How ever you want to play your character i would say

Anyway i love how some people literally screamed on these forums how it’s never ever ever going to happen and now that we know it’s going to happen it changes to ‘‘well it sort of doesn’t happen’’

Depends on who you mean. I said high elves as in Silver Covenant will never be playable and perfectly predicted void elves will get the customization instead. And here we are.

No, since the distinction between Blood Elf and High Elf is political and cultural.

If you’re a Void-using Elf in the Alliance, you’re a Void Elf, but you could call yourself a High Elf too.

If you’re a blue-eyed Elf in the Horde, it’d be silly to call yourself a High Elf, and if you were a Void-using Elf it would be silly to call yourself a Void Elf, because you’re a Blood Elf.

Unless Blizzard adds some lore about how whole silver covenant turned to void or something.
Honestly i wouldn’t be surprised if they would do it. That would literally end all debates for ever.

The name is not the only contention, at least not for me. The name in the end is meaningless. Its the legacy of Quel’dorei that’s important. Exiles, traitors and kinslayers don’t get to claim to be sole owners of that legacy. At this rate, both high elves and void elves have drifted away from Quel’dorei legacy more than blood elves have.

in the end it don’t matter the decision has been made and this flunkies arent even real high elves it would be better to just delete the void elves and give the alliance the race that actually asked for at this point

Let’s not tear down something far more interesting to appease a crowd that can never be appeased.

Blizz just invented Void elves to give Alliance players something to be happy about while keeping Blood elves unique.
They hoped everybody would be happy this way but it only made people and especialy High elves fans much more vocal and here we are.
But seriously i will be able to play fair skinned blue eyed elf on the Alliance side. Do you really think I or anyone really cares how is the race called in the character creation screen? Most people are just going to play their High elves and be happy.

I am happy for you, truly.

I rolled back to Alliance in Legion, and it was a downgrade for me. PvE was basically dead, so I switched back to Horde. Looks are nice and all, but the game also needs to be enjoyable.
