hmm extra team comp it seems - 1 priest 4 mages. AoE grind multiboxer probably

anyone whos doing 30+ instance runs per day legitimately is still part of the problem. good riddance

have you ever played the game? 30 runs is easily hit if you’re just farming a while

How are 30 runs per day easy to hit? This is 6 hours of play, provided you reset 5 times per hour (which is already a lot). I think the move of blizzard is quite good, woudl be better to also completely ban bots as they will now find other way of farming, probably open world or other larger instances.

i hope you go broke now kekw

a mage making a fuzz because he cant grind 10x more gold per hour than everyone else now. laughable

Ayy lmao blizzard doing minimal effort again.

None of the suits at Blizz that can decide to fix this problem know or care about the botting issue.

They don’t need to since this doesn’t really affect botters in any real way, they will just extend the duration of their stratholme runs to >48 minutes. I believe they are at like 35 rn.

Too little, too wrongly, too late.

This is missing the mark completely, you are trying to improve a bad change - the rest of us are simply saying that the change is inherently bad at a fundamental level.

The crux of the issue is that this (and the last “please report bots”) message is the ONLY real acknowledgement of bots from Blizzard, whilst they have been running rampant for 9 months in Stratholme now.

I feel like the OBVIOUS solutions that we want are:

  • 1-5 FULL TIME bot hunting GMs, investigating, scanning and banning bots on EU servers - this alone would’ve made it 100 times better than today.
  • New logically based anti-botting system that logs x/y/z/ coordinates of players the moment they zone in along with time stamps and correlate that with every other player in the database’s positional information. I think fairly quickly that 2-3 primary paths where a very small variation between positions can be established since bots will not have the same natural variation in pathing as people.

Any character/account that falls within these parameters are flagged as suspicious and subject to manual review by a GM. ← This would eliminate nearly every single bot, since you would need machine learning or AI to combat this, which I doubt is worth it financially.

Imagine what it’s like on shazzrah/golemag/gehennas/firemaw man…

they dont give an eff anymore. they can do something as stupid as this and people will still sub to the game. ontop of all this, bots are forced to make more accounts, WHICH gives BOTH BOTTERS AND BLIZZ more profit. and to think people are still going to buy the £90 scam that SL preorder epic edition is. i wouldn’t be surprised if blizz wrote the bot program themselves…

I have a great way for you to catch bots and it takes me 5 seconds to do.

per 24 hours, not per day  You could for instance be aoe farming mara for 3 hours during a friday night chill session on discord. The next morning (say mby saturday morning) you log on to do more farming, and by the time it’s 13:00 you are locked and can’t do any dungeon on your account for the next 5-6 hours

This is a really bad change, as it doesn’t really fix the problem but merely limits the impact of bots. In addition this also affects legitimate players (e.g. farming maraudon for the dagger, feral druids farming crowd pummelers, …) and adds a layer of intransparency because there is no option to view the remaining amount of instance ids forcing you to use addons.
If this change persists it should also not affect 40 player raids. Nobody wants to be locked out of a weekly raid because they did too many dungeon runs.

Addendum: Will the 30 instances per day individually reset after 24 hours (i.e. each instance stops counting to towards the limit exactly 24h after leaving the instance) or will there be a daily reset at for example 9 AM? The bluepost is ambiguous.

Addendum 2: As botters can simply switch realm every 30 instances I would characterise this change as entirely negative.

Bot lives matter.

So what they really mean, “Its OK to use bot, as long as you dont farm too fast/too much”…

I’d like a more in-depth reasoning on why you think implementing this is a good idea to combat exploitative and automated gameplay. Take me through your thought process step by step because I am curious to see how you landed on this decision.

What I interpret from this is that you are unable to surgically target and punish the players who are violating the Blizzard End User License Agreement. So what you do instead is implement changes to the game that punishes everyone who do more than 30 instances per day, in what looks like a desperate attempt to “at least do something”.

I find it unacceptable and quite offending that you are willing to punish legitimate players in your failed attempts at dealing with the current situation of exploitative and automated gameplay. I expect you to deal with them without sacrificing the rest of us in the process. If you do not solve the situation soon and keep ignoring sound advice from the community I expect you will lose an increasing amount of decent and honest players, eventually leaving just the most toxic and dishonest players left for WoW Classic. That would be very sad indeed.

I thought this was something you had under control from the start when you released this game, but learning now that people have been cheating even since then is very discouraging for the rest of us who have to work so much harder to obtain the same amount of materials and gold as these people do.

I also want to give you an example of how this effects my gameplay:
I am a lvl 60 mage running Maraudon 5 times per hour in an attempt to obtain Princess Theradras’ famous Blade of Eternal Darkness. Now with your new implementation that will kick in effect as of tomorrow I will only be able to do this for 5-6 hours as that will leave me at 26 instances since I am also raiding Blackwing Lair, Molten Core, Onyxia’s Lair and Zul’Gurub for a total of 30 instances that day. It will take me 7-8 hours to deplete this 24h cap. The remaining 8-9 hours I am awake I am forced to do something else. Or if I decided to pull an all-nighter I would be unable to keep farming Maraudon for the next 16-17 hours.

I know there are alot of people in similar situations running dungeons for reputation, farming gear, buying/selling boosting services, etc. Please don’t punish us and come up with a better solution to only target the cheaters.
