I’m not sure. Someone in another thread said they were enabled in 2008
The more I think about this and analyze this the more i’m convinced this is the best solution but blizzard are desperate to avoid it.
It seems quite obvious that most servers have poor to catastrophic faction imbalance, generally favouring horde. it is my hypothesis that Blizzard are desperately trying to mitgate this in a number of ways. The most obvious one is allowing faction transfers off the most imbalance to the larger faction. The idea that rather than a extreme problem on most servers there will be a moderate problem on all servers. I not even sure if that’s any better.
The other effort is bringing BG’s early, while I’d be forced to agree that will take some ganking wPvPers and place them in BGs. I’m fairly confident this won’t reslove the issue and rather than being out numbered ~10:1 it will be ~7:2 which is functionally the same.
A number of solutions have been put forward, however I don’t think any single one of them (excluding one) will reslove the issue and a combination of solutions, that would resolve this problem will change the game enough that “it’s not classic” and vex the #nochanges which have a lot of numbers.
To use an allegory
There’s this old riddle. You’ve got a Fox a Chicken and some grain and boat. Unless you are present the Fox will eat the Chicken and the Chicken will eat the grain. You need to cross a river in a boat but you can only fit one of the in the boat at each time.
The solution is to take the chicken first, leave it on the far side of the river. Then come back and pick up the Fox bring the fox over to the far side, then put the chicken back in the boat and leaving the fox on the far side. Then on the nearside take the Chicken out and load the grain in. Go back over to the far side and put the grain with the fox, then lastly come back and collect the chicken.
This is essentially the only solution and without changing the parameters of the puzzle there is no way solving the puzzle without the essentially “swap” journeys.
This is what the PvE server is to the PvP problem and all we are all doing is investigating methods that either revolve around getting a bigger boat, gag the fox etc etc (ie changing the game). We already have a solution there is just nothing else that we can do.
I’m sure others will suggest other “out of puzzle” solutions, all this does is demonstrate the way we have is the only way
Additionally I don’t agree this is “Blizzards fault”. Freedom of choice is freedom of choice even if said freedom is used to put yourself in poor situations.
I agree with OP as well.
Its a shame all these kids see this as whining, we are just saying what we think and it just so happens that a lot of us are having the same experiences.
The current PVP servers are nothing like the PVP servers used to be, maybe its the overcrowding who knows ? Either way I just don’t have the time to waste trying to get stuff done while getting permanently camped nor do I have the time to level again.
Its been pretty fun playing classic and if they ever do open transfers then il start playing again.
They should all reroll to a PvE server that is the best way for them if they suffer from PvP, no one is forcing them to stay there, I hope they reroll soon, and if enough players reroll then yes, Blizzard will create new PvE server.
Transfer is a no no. Just reroll.
Please do world a favor and keep your opinion for yourself.
I have just one thing to say OMG!!!
Please do the world a favor and keep your whining to your self then aswell.
Truth hurts huh?
Nobody is whining here only u LOL
How about no, if it wasn’t in vanila it shouldn’t be on classic #nochanges
Why do you even care if they’re allowed to transfer, as long as it’s a new server?
What’s the difference to you? Server community and population + faction balance suffers all the same.
You nailed it. We need more servers to make room for the fugitives from PvP and give them the possibility of transfer to a shining new server.
How would transfer to PvE server be a solution to the PvP issues if the “issue” in the first place are dumb people who choose PvP servers and now complain about it and demand paid transfers to a PvE one?
They can reroll to a PvE easily because Classic is only a few months old it’s not like they loose half a year or a whole year of stuff if they restart on a PvE, it can be considered their punishment or price of a hard lesson for being so dumb to choose a PvP server and when they get massively ganked, start crying about it and demanding stuff!
Youtubers made a ton of videos about Vanilla and PvP so they had the chance to get the info and choose between PvP and PvE acordingly!
I really support people who have problems but when it’s dumbness, then the best solution is a lesson they learn from not a “oo you got a bobo, here have a reward for it”!
That way the only thing they learn from it is that it’s okay to be dumb, just cry a lot about what you want and you will get it.
I really don’t think that would be the right lesson for anyone.
It’s not all who watch YouTubers. Lots of us imagined Classic would be like Vanilla (and have not been playing Pservers either).
It does not hurt you to let people transfer instead of re-rolling.
- The result for you to see is one player who is no longer on your realm.
The result for the other player is either:
- With transfer: one happy player on a new realm.
- Without transfer (with re-roll) one unhappy player, who might just leave or give up some levels in.
This is a game. This is made for fun, not to correct or educate people, much less to punish them.
Everything in life you experience will teach you something.
Every decision and action you do in your life will always have consequences.
If you really think that Blizzard runs this game for educational purposes you’re in for a disappointment.
You guys are disappointed and whining, i’m happy because I was smart enough to choose a PvE server this time around since I have learned from my past decisions and online information that is there for everyone to learn from if they are not lazy or dumb.
Those who don’t learn are the ones who end up disappointed.
I too rolled on a PvE server. I just wish for all to be as happy as I am.
So please Blizzard, open free transfer from PvP to a shiny new PvE server. And please open one more for us PvEers to spill into, spo that we can have a bit more room.
Listen, I’ll be the first to say that I’m glad of having chosen a PvE server. And that I can’t help but giggle seeing all this drama while, during all Spring and Summer 2019, we’ve seen lots of people vaunting PvP servers as the “true WoW experience” only to turn into this mess.
Yet, the way you’re going about it is not only petty/childish, but also shortsighted. If Blizz caves in to the people asking for a transfer to a PvE server (possibly one created for that purpose), what’re you going to do? Quit? Don’t make me laugh. You’re only going to whine and tap your feet on this forum that some ppl weren’t punished as you think they deserve, but will keep playing regardless. Whereas those are customers that Blizzard could lose otherwise. If you think Blizz will listen to you, then you’re just acting like a child.
But besides that, you’re looking at it from the wrong perspective. I’m sure you resent PvP players as much as I do. But let me tell you this - all those people who dissed PvE servers and players? For the most part, they’re not the ones who’re now here asking for transfer. Most of the ppl who’re asking now are just players who bought the fairy tale but that’s about it.
No, the people who did the dissing are mostly those who now are playing Horde and farming these guys in BRM, EPL, etc. And if you wanna see those people suffer, then the best way to do it is to allow those transfer. So that those people can get robbed of their precious preys, and their PvP servers can finally crash and burn like they deserve.
In other words, by fighting against transfers to PvE servers etc., you’re basically siding with those who’ve been calling the likes of me and you “second-class citizens”, “carebears” etc. Those are the people I want to see suffer, and I’m sure you’ll agree if you think about it.
