Yeah it’s clearly not going anywhere. May as well shoot it in the back of the head.
But I want to hear more from Kelibor
How is it interesting? The nightborne are now just purple blood elves, void of any personality or directive,
they basically interchangeable with blood elves offering nothing new, no difference of opinion, no different alternative/ contribution. It means nothing if you swap a blood elf with a nightborne - you just read it as horde arcane user - it might as well be any.
Furthermore, the nightborne will just become blood elf lapdogs.
They would have been more interseting to the blood elves if they brought night elven druidsm into the horde elf magical matrix, that at least would be somethign.
On the alliance, in particular to the night elves they are far more interesting. They immediately present another vein of night elven viewpoint - the arcane one and pre-sundering culture one
They do so in an identifiable way the fans can grasp because they’ve been shown (unlike with the Shen’dralar), that comes with much more weight than the shen’dralar could bare, and it comes with a full range of the noble pre-sundering types to the arrogant kind, rather than one boring monotone that already has this range within the blood elf society. The instant you will see a nightborne you won’t confuse with a normal night elf because you will be assume this one stands for some sort of arcane or highborne action, interpretation or viewpoint, that will be different from a kaldorei druid or priest.
It brings a different pallette to the night elf table that completes it and compliments it much better.
Nightborne won’t always have the same responses and expected approaches as night elf druids or priests, unlike how it would be with the blood elves where they’d be totally interchangeable.
Current Darnassian society with a fully fledged arcane sub-race is something different to their palette and opens new interesting possibilities of when and how they work together, given they are so distinctly different, yet completely related exploring two different halves of the same city - with a much differences as they have similarities. Unlike with the blood elves who are already doing everything the nightborne are doing magically, just to a less advanced degree, and where the only difference is they are purple of night elf stock. You will never be shown the subtle differences in nightborne (kaldorei pre-sundering culture) and blood elf culture - it would be like they are same - with just one being more advanced in the field than the other.
On the alliance with the night elves, the nightborne can also learn the greatest level and degree of druidsm too
, an entire depth and branch of magic they can’t get from the blood elves, seeing as they surpass them in every other branch. And they get all their friendship needs via the shen’dralar highborne, the void elves and the high elves on the alliance.
They also have far more exciting things to do with the night elves
Like rebuild their race’s ruined cities, now the nature and arcane expertise is present in both with sufficient numbers and skill to carry it out. Learning a lot from each other. The nightborne have a lot more about balance to learn from the night elves as well as nature, developments in the priesthood and reconnection to Elune. The night elves will have help expanding their arcane wing immensely with the sheer numbers and level of expertise in the arcane far many more nightborne bring, they also gain a degree of their former civilization back.
So I’m not sure how you feel they are more boring with the night elves. The blood elves offer nothing new and different for them, nor do they offer anything substanial to the blood elves but more arcane knowledge.
Blood elf fans just want another pretty elven city and high magic user group, and don’t want the night elves to have their own back… because they are vain and petty like that. I mean its similar to the reason they don’t want alliance players to have high elves.
I see right through them. Take away the fancy city, and have them in nightfallen state, there is no way these blood elf fans would be remotely interested in them. They’d be happy for the night elves to have them in that form, because it is yet another ruined society in perilous settings. But now they see all fancy and repaired, in powerful armor - they want. Vain little hypocrites.
Because I cut through the Belf fan b/s and vanity and call it for what it is, and you don’t like it because its true and it exposes the ugly truth about the blood elves.
Here it comes. The next wall of text no one reads. Btw. You are just offended because your Fantasies about united elves under the blue banner aren’t getting support from blizzard.
And far more redundant when it comes to the Mageogracy within the Alliance. Being in the Alliance would strip them of their core and the War of Thorns would have made even these Highborne descendants look stupid.
The Horde as a whole offers something unique for the Nightborne and that’s what each race on the Horde boasts.
Blood Elf society is a combination of various things, whereas Nightborne is strictly an Arcane culture - something that the Horde needed far more than the Alliance.
It was Blizzard’s call. They made Silgryn and Liadrin form a close friendship in 7.3 - it had nothing to do with the blood elf or nightborne fans.
No need to insult people. It makes you look childish
Well I like the Nightbornes with the Blood Elves. It just fits together. With the current Night Elves they shouldn’t have any interest because it is such a different lifestyle. Blood Elves have kinda the same lifestyle and even the same story with their addiction. They understand each other. They are both Highborne. Night Elves don’t understand how it is to be a Highborne.
Does that bother you Erevien? That I’m offended? Or my fantasies aren’t visualised in game?
That’s just your opinion, and you know it, you’re just regurgitating what an in-game character said, there is no basis for it, because she doesn’t even know the alliance that well.
And that is why they are only sticking with the blood elves and not interacting with orr forming diplomatic ties with other horde races.
Even the blood elves look on the horde races with disgust and contempt mostly, there because they have to be, rather than they want to be, and you think the nightborne are embracing trolls and orcs and goblins – laughable, at this point you’re just making things up so you can be right even when you know you are not.
And hence has nothing new to give to the blood elves, whereas that is something much needed by the night elves.
We all know the nightborne on the alliance would be a far better development and more interesting. The stronger reasons and the more intersting ones lay that way. Nightborne on the horde as night elves on the horde that is the only thing that is interesting about this development. It’s cute for blood elves to have a friend similar to them, but it isn’t interesting.
They made them have a few conversations and discussions, you interpret that as a close friendship? When Liadrin puts her life on the line for Silgryn and vice versa, Silgryn goes out of his way to help Liadrin and vice versa, when Liadrin can call on Silgryn when she’s having a tough time and vice versa … then I will acknowledge they have close friendship.
Your view and mine of close friendships are very very different.
I thought blood elves were proud of their vanity and new they were two faced - look at all the back and forth they do with allegiances… they are in a faction they clearly hold in contempt and think themselves superior, they have twice nearly defected to the alliance as well been leaking elves to the alliance as high elves then as void elves.
Only Liadrin seems to actually care genuinely about things and people, most blood elves seem to be only after power because they were but hurt Arthas humiliated them. Only other blood elves i like are Halduron Brightwing, Lor’themar and the ones that were with Vereesa in the Thas’dorah questline.
While a few decent ones pop up now and then, there are enough annoying and irritating ones around too. I much prefer the high elves even though Vereesa annoys me. Alleria on the other hand… much respect and love. Umbric too.
Can we have some Blood Elf counterpart to this guy? Would be really fun to (maybe) read their whole conversation.
I’m not a belf fan, i play one because of Mythic+ and arcane torrent.
The only race i really am a “fan” of is Tauren, i started WoW as one and propably would play a tauren rogue if possible.
And even if i were a belf fan, this is a story forum, not a RP-Forum. This is for my own PoV not for my characters PoV. Something you don’t seem to understand.
The Nightborne have since their introduction shown that they culturally are far closer to Blood elves than to Night elves. Yet your delusions prevent you from seeing it.
The only real nature you can see in Suramar is in the Zoo, the rest is a mix of arcane-infused Trees, flowers and grass (kind of like the eversong woods just in purple).
They don’t worship elune anymore as far as we can see.
Kind of obvious to stop worshipping the moon after thousands of years under a roof.
They use Magic for everything. And i mean everything: There are hovering books everywhere, Constructs, light sources and even their weapons are pure arcane energy.
The Magic they use is just as powerful as the blood elf magic. Not better or worse, just a different path over the last 10000 years rooted in different circumstances. They used their magic for sustain and luxury while belves used it for survival (and to a lesser extent for luxury and sustain).
And about the Nature Magic you seem to think only nightelves can teach…
We have tauren who can teach the same (in the unlikely case that nightborne want to leave their luxury for burrows to sleep)
And Trolls/Zandalari who can teach a whole different kind of nature magic based on the Loa (considering Elves are descendents of trolls, maybe they can use this too)
So: Nightelves may profit more from nightborne, but Nightborne are where they profit most
Ereveien even liked that… awww…this is exactly why nightborne and shen’dralar highborne are far more interesting night elven allies to the Darnassians than they are joining the horde.
And is exactly the reason why i feel the nightborne should split. Some remain in the horde, because even i acknowledge that friendship is nice touch to have as blood elves seem way too isolated on the horde, but it really has little meaning and value, which is why it should oonly have few there.
THe rest should migrate over to the alliance, where their interaction and involvement is much more interesting, and allows for much more development and diversity to the alliance night elves who have been rather monotonous and boring.
You don’t go and add more druidic sub-race or a priest one to the night elves - no, you want to add their arcane sub-race, demon hunting sub-race, this brings something different while still being night elf related.
AS you yourself admit, they have very different lifestyles, and this is what makes it interesting, coming together and doing something new for both of them. The druidic and priest darnassians get a lot of arcane advancements and the nightborne get a lot of nature and Elune advancements - complimenting each other nicely.
And as for understanding, as long as they are united in their belief of doing good and standing against evil, they will form an understanding. This is how new bonds are formed or old ones reforged.
Now that’s just nonsense. You play a night elf demon hunters, and you have access to a night elf mage, and you know highborne are a night elf thing. And they have the only remaining true highborne left - they know and understand, they just don’t do the reckless sort of behaviour the Azshara highborne did around the first invasion. This is a particular period of time in the pre-sundering era…not all of the pre-sundering era, just that time when Azshara’s lot had become really arrogant and reckless.
THis is what the night elves don’t do, and as you can see, both Thalyssra and the nightfallen rebels, as well as the Shen’dralar and the Farondis are not that type of night elf anymore. So i think they can understand each other quite well in a way that allows them to get along.
I won’t comment on each of his points since it’s getting old and I’m too tired for answering with literal novel sized posts.
Erevien: Of course youre fan of a alliance apologist character. no surprise here
i didn’t say baine. I said tauren. I started to play when cairne led the tauren.
And it’s the culture of tauren i like. Not a special character.
btw: where does this hostility come from? because i dislike sylvanas?^^
ps. i just read that you removed the post, and choose to think you mistook me for someone else^^
I get your love for Liadrin. But Halduron? This man still has not proven himself on his loyalty.
Then why are you offended? If you’re not a blood elf fan then what I said about blood elves doesn’t apply to you at all. It’s not like all blood elf fans are the same either.
Oh I quite understand.
Oh really? My delusions about night elven highborne? or my delusions about alliance high elves and alliance void elves… lets see nightborne you are telling me have more in common on the horde side with the blood elves than they do with the shen’dralar highborne or the large swathes of darnassians originally from SUramar including Tyrande, Jarod, Maiev, also the Stormrage brothers Illidan and Malfurion who while born in Val’sharah lived in Suramar? REally? You mean to tell me that they some how have more in common with blood elves rather than high elves and void elves or Darnassians when Thalyssra goes on about defending the world rather than conquering it and is not shown to be power hungery?
Really? And I’m delusional? DO you even know what that word means?
The zoo? At least they have one compared to Silvermoon… and you see lots of trees even though it is a city that was under a shield… not a country, cities tend to have buildings, you do realise there was a whole country and lush forests cultivated by the night elves before the sundering just outside their cities right.
You do realise they don’t hate nature… or have you forgotten the entire botanical wing of the night hold raid. Lets just assume night elves don’t like nature, in contrast to every depiction of them in lore. Pre-sundering night elves described in War of the Ancients while full on the arcane had enough love of nature for it to be commented on and described as their cities being built weaving a combination of nature and arcane magic.
BUt then you also ignore the arcane element of night elves who are not forest elves or wood elves either, having an arcane essence and being born from an arcane well, and being talented at it whether they choose to wield it (highborne/moonguard/nightborne types) or not (feral druid/sentinel/warden types)
At least you acknowledge “as far as we can see”, because they haven’t revealed to us their preisthood mantra.
But given they are night elves, with moon and star fascination, and they have val’sharah refugee priests of Elune with them, and that in the city of Suramar the shrines to ELune, especially in the lowborne areas of lower west-side are well kept and full of offerings, seems to suggest to me, along with the female nightborne quirps, that it is Elune.
We just don’t know for sure - that we agree on.
And the stars too, yet as soon as the dome goes on, look at what they say “we see the stars once more” - look at their Dusk watch and nighthold mages casting a lot of moon and star spells, just like the moonguard above - I don’t know about worship, but the moon and stars are still quite the fascination as it is with every night elf.
And? THis is how it was with night elf society in the pre-sundering era, they carried on with that, just like the shen’dralar did - the difference is by the time we see Eldre’thalas it is has fallen into ruins for 200 years and is over run by ogres calling it Dire Maul… so we don’t get to see what advancements they made. But the night elves in the arcane vein tend to use arcane for everything.
It is part of why they get so addicted, arcane substituted even things of nature like food… and this was a problem which is why they withered and now cured, well they are going to have to find a balance.
It is far more powerful and at a far higher level. The only area the blood elves come close is in combat applications, think about what you are saying. 10,000 years ago their magic was above that of any society around today, this includes blood elves, and in they’ve had 10,000 years of improvements - slow improvements, but improvements nonetheless.
You’ve just harped on about their hovering books, and constructs, then you remember their note taking the quests particularly note - this is clearly beyond blood elf knowledge, i mean why on earth woul dthe reliquary want to steal lots of knowledge if the blood elves already had it all?
If you’re not a blood elf fan, you’re certainly thinking like one - that they are superior to everyone even when it is clear this is a night elven group that is far superior to them, yes, far superior … and they don’t like that, and don’t like me for saying it, but it is obivous…
Which is why blood elf magic is nearly as strong combat wise, but doesn’t come close in any other aread.
Haha, like a stuffy blood elf will learn magic from a tauren, let alone a nightborne. The only elves they will learn magic from is a night elf.
You seem to think being allied with trolls means that elves all of a sudden like them or vice versa.
they get far more from the alliance that is more on their level in every department, than they would the horde.
We all know blood elves are not in the horde out of love, and nightborne have no interst in any horde race but some of the blood elves.
So much for your little head fantasy of nightborne love for horde. Which is why they’ve avoided partaking in any of those barbaric, genocidal battles the horde have been matching.
She doesn’t, but I do and just like the Shen’dralar Highborne, who are also redundant in every Alliance war, this would be the exact same for the Nightborne. No, the Nightborne needed to keep their edge - their core, their fantasy and the Horde offers that and the Nightborne fit in the Horde like a glove.
No it wouldn’t. Nightborne would be overshadowed by Humans, High Elves and Draenei. They do not deserve that as they were favorite throughout Legion and it would be a total slap in the face for all true Nightborne fans.
The Alliance is not only about Night Elves and you need to realise that. Far more negatives come with the Nightborne joining the Alliance - the first, being overshadowed and being reduced in significance.
Closer than the “relationship” with Tyrande or the Alliance.
Silgryn was asking questions about the Horde prior to Thalyssra wanting to join the faction anyway. Silgryn and Thalyssra kept very open minds about both factions, but they choose the one that is right for their people. The Nightborne are better in the Horde.
The Nightborne work with their allies, as they did since their introduction.
The Alliance writing team can’t even right Night Elves. Having them wright the Nightborne would make the Nightborne undesirable.
Kelibor would see the Nightborne worse. ONLY NIGHT ELVES CAN SPEAK TO NIGHTBORNE AND ONLY NIGHTBORNE CAN SPEAK TO NIGHT ELVES! Nobody else can have lore moments with the Nightborne! Only the Night Elves! Let’s make the Nightborne super bland and boring!
Thank christ Blizzard saw sense and put the Nightborne on the Horde.
You realize that the Blood Elves descend from Highborne at the same level the Suramar-Elves were on? And they didn’t have time to make slow improvements. They needed to improve or would’ve been run over by trolls.
The reason suramar looks more advances than silvermoon is not superiority, it’s just that Silvermoon’s design is around 12 years old and the developers didn’t have tools to make a real magic city. I hope the old cities will get reworked someday with todays technology because of that.
You are right, Nightelven society was close to what suramar is like today, but that was before they banished all people who wanted to use magic and started living in ruins and pale shadows of the past.
And now i’m out, because it’s not really fun to argue with someone who sees his own dreams as facts, and his wishes for undisputable truths.
“The only elves they will learn magic from is a night elf.”
“It is far more powerful and at a far higher level. The only area the blood elves come close is in combat applications, think about what you are saying. 10,000 years ago their magic was above that of any society around today, this includes blood elves, and in they’ve had 10,000 years of improvements - slow improvements, but improvements nonetheless.”
and many more of your posts show that…
We have this conversation right here.

Blizzard foreshadowed it long ago. It is going to stay like this, just like with the blood elfs. Everyone on the blue team couldn’t stop complaining but still, here we are. 11 years and still we are part of the Horde.
Can we just have Nightborne be moved to the Alliance so all this whining can stop?
EDIT:
He started another thread…
And to lose flavor in favor of Humans, High Elves and Draenei? No way.
Too late. It’s no use. Just look at the general discussions forum. High Elf fans are just the same, only with Quel’thalas instead of the Nightborne.
