so I pretty new to classic, got to level 50 on my warrior, was farming princess runs for ring and legs. Priest ninja looted the Blackstone Ring today (ring with stamina, hit rating and attack power) because it was “fun for him”. After the whole group reported him and sent screenshots this is what I get in response:
"…I did some investigation on what happened, read through the chat and I could confirm that didn’t Ninja Loot the ring.
They got a higher roll for the item, and they got the item instead. I understand that you wished to have this item instead, but when rolls are higher, not even Game Masters can interfere, as this is considered to forfeit the Game mechanics."
I am disappointed by this and highly discouraged from playing. So I am allowed to take cloth intellect spirit gear on my warrior if I think it’s funny?
While it is frowned upon, what you described is a player winning an item using the Group Loot system. This happened more often in the past and was adjusted in later expansions.
This is not considered a violation of the Ninja Looting system. You could decide to ignore them I’m pretty sure they will come up if they continue to play and then explain to the group what happened and decide to collectively not play with them as a social consequence to the ninja in question.
Just as a reminder, you may be called out in internal discords/guilds and grouping up for late game content can become very tough if you decide to go down this path.
Ninja looting is allowed by Blizzard. It is discouraged by community, of course, so feel free to ignore that priest and spread bad word about him in your guild, but he won’t be banned.
It’s disgusting and despicable behavior… sadly it seems to be all around a very toxic environment this release. I’ve had too many really bad experiences in random groups… cba to play outside my bubble anymore
It’s a poor situation. But it highlights the benefits of doing a guild with established looting rules, or very clearly agreeing loot rules with a PUG group before commencing a dungeon.
As an example I used to help guild members running BRD on first classic relaunch on a raid geared Lock on the proviso that I could need roll on any +Frost damage BOE GREENS that dropped for my Mage alt. If I had need rolled on those without agreement it would have breached Guild Rules, but in a PUG it would breach no rules BUT damage my reputation on the server.
Because Classic is now on Mega Servers reputational damage is less likely to occur.
So we refer to the behaviour as 'Ninja" but it doesn’t actually breach any game ‘rules’ or ‘mechanics’
don’t think so, I don’t think it needs to be specified that priest doesn’t roll on hit rating and attack power. Btw brilliant idea to make the gear untradeable
