I often see the “it wasn’t in vanilla so it shouldn’t be in classic” argument on forums when people suggest some changes to classic. What would people who think like that like to see happen to the game after all vanilla content has been released? Would you like it to stay in this state forever? No new content, raids, dungs, zones etc. which would expand the game because they “were not in vanilla”? Is classic for you mostly about nostalgia, rather than about superior gameplay mechanics? I personally like it mostly for the latter and would like to see it evolve in a similar way Old School Runescape does, which means “yes changes which would not negatively affect the vanilla-like gameplay”.
I have pondered where some people see the game in 1-2 years time if it literally never evolves beyond Vanilla.
A bunch of gnome frost mage engineers locked in endless war with a bunch of undead frost mage engineers in AV?
It the talent tree, combat system etc. Which I always preferred with Vanilla - there were no conveniences - not many travel hubs etc.
Class balancing is not a thing - as a lock I have to farm and manage soul stones - I need a bag for them
Add new content - but don’t change the core of the game - keep it inconvenient and -in essence - more difficult
I considered this with the level squish expected in retail - if they are dropping everybody to 50 they could revert to the original combat system
That exactly what I think. For example, I don’t consider being unable to ever change your hairstyle to be one of those core mechanics that “made vanilla great” and would like to be able to do it. However, what one considers to be core can vary from person to person.
Yes, I would not like any new content in Classic.
I’m not against new content that’s in the spirit of vanilla. Perhaps on new classic+ servers so as not to force it on everyone (that doesn’t want it).
I have played 1 month TBC, 1 month retail and now stuck in classic since opening. I would love to see more gadgets for example “Spy”, engineering stuff which you place around and tracks people. Don’t ask me what gave me this “brilliant idea”.
NO FLYING MOUNTS or limit them to the range where melee can’t reach them but they can be reached by ranged monsters, people so it wouldn’t be unlimited sky freedom, or just NO FLYING MOUNTS.
Would love arenas though, more open content than instanced and good servers, not 2004 style, where we can have 150vs150 fights without 5s delays, just like in here.

I highly not recommend trying this corrupt highly p2w game but well, if I had 120v120v120v120 <1s delay fights in 2010 in lineage2, I believe we can have it in WoW too.
I do not trust the accountants and marketing people that are now running blizzard and calling shots for wow to make any changes to the game.
How would you feel about players voting for changes/content updates the way they do in Runescape?
I dont know yet
No thanks. That’s what Retail is for.
Private servers thrived with no new content, don’t see why it should be anything else here.
Retail evolved in a different direction, losing its classic mechanics along the way. Wouldn’t you want more of the kinda experience you like (classic-like content)?
Imo this is a part of the charm. Same with my hunter and his quiver. Whats wrong with having a bag for one unique aspect of your class?
Not trying to argue, genuinely interested in your opinion on this matter.
I agree - rogues have to farm mats to make poison is another good example
Keep Classic optional, as a museum piece, on several servers, for nostalgia.
Continue with Classic +, by adding new content, while keeping the core Classic systems untouched : level cap at 60, Azeroth only, unchanged talents, unchanged skills and spells, add new tier and/or gear pieces with stats that will improve (SLIGHTLY) certain specs (oomkin, rets, ele, enha, shadow) in PvE (like adding +hit or slight mana regen on hit/crit) without drastically improve those specs in PvP, new BGs.
New professions can be added, but those professions should be exclusively cosmetic (like dyes, or Archaeology mounts).
What should NEVER be added in Classic+ : tmog, LFG, LFR, war/titan forging, flying mounts, new cities, mixing faction races, neutral cities, crossrealm, sharding. Basically, whatever sh.it is in Retail, or will be in Retail.
The closest we will get is battleground crossrealm. What are your thoughts on this regard?
Personally I would prefer not to. But as many classic servers have bad H-A ratio this is an easy “solution” to fix queue times.
Blizzard should have implemented 50/50 ratio cap from the beginning. Then we never would need any cross realm bullsh*t. Which would result in a closer community (my assumption).
Why? New zones in Azeroth are ok but Outland zones are not? What’s the difference?
I don’t care much personally.
My only requirement is that if TBC/Classic+ is released, we’re could copy our characters to new servers, not affect any of the classic servers in any way whatsoever.
This essentially lets classic become a museum and everyone who wants the new content (i don’t have any particular preference for new content so long as it’s on new servers) can do so on new servers, not current ones
This made me laugh
Although I see it more as 80 SL locks running in fear all over the place.
I like it the way it is.
However I don’t mind at all if they release a separate Classic+ as a new version of the game, as long as they keep this as is. In general I don’t really play many new games, rather I replay old titles I like. Maybe it’s age, dunno.
The whole argument about splitting the player base isn’t valid. People will play what they prefer. If classic is great they will keep playing even if there are options. It’s a selfish argument.
