Second of all, no direct answer? Come again? He gives a direct answer to the concern about quests directing players to portals - that the intent is that portals should still spawn in those cases.
He also clarifies the concern about portal locations to IF and such, and says it’s unintended and they’ll be included in a future PTR build.
And then he specifically asks for feedback regarding the Caverns of Time portal, and the likes, and follows up on it with more questions.
I’m all for bashing Blizzard, but c’mon man. The above is basically the CM doing his job to the letter. He collects feedback from players, forwards it to the developers, and gets clarification on matters of confusion.
LOL I’m not for bashing Blizzard I rather they did their job and be happy with it for real.
I’m glad there is a CM to gather the info and cares about the matters, but I’d rather have a direct answer about wether or not the convenience of portals will disappear. The problem is that I’m not confident anymore with the decisions they will make. I don’t believe they really listen to the community, and that makes me feel insecure about what will coming up in the game. Warcraft isn’t my life, but I have invested a lot of time in it. It is what made the difference lately between playing this game or another. I just wish I knew if it was still worth my time and my hopes.
is 2 days Feidreva ask Why.
Personally i dont think is important but many ppl does.
Ofc they think it’s better for the game. But isnt an answer.
Its like my priest in the church i used to go when i was young: “father, why i have to believe?”. “little boy, because is better for you”.
Every opinion has a certain degree of selfishness. There is a difference though between one accepting both styles of playing (or more, depending of topic) and other playing the all-knowingly card, and more so extrapolating personal views into sentences about how this game is intended to be played, or similar.
I don’t really care how you play the game. Or Jito. Or the other 5 individuals defending portal removal across the EU and US forums. However, it seems the other way around is a different story. I’ll go ahead and say you don’t have an ounce more knowledge about how this game should be played above people infuriated by this change.
Looks like a measure that put in extra time and effort ( like coding the portals to appear based on the existence of certain quests in log- which totally won’t lead to players keeping this for their benefit) to remove a quality of life for players… Guess they still have too many subscribers after all and learned nothing from the WoD flying affair.
You think I want the game to cater for me in a non intended way? How quaint. This statement would resemble some truth if I would advocate for a teleport network across Azeroth similar to D2/D3 one- you learned it once, you have instant access to several points across a zone. Or some similar transport systems in other MMO. But, for criticizing the unjustified removal of several portals that were in game since the start of Legion ( or Wrath for CoT one)? Don’t be ridiculous ;).
Simple straight forward Why? I don’t get it. Why do devs think that removing ease of life from our fav game will add to it? I’ve read the answers you’ve given but they really aren’t answers. They’re fob offs. I hear these sorts of answers all the time from parents to there children. “Dad why do I have to do that… cause I said so” etc.
Golden rule: If it’s not broken - DON’T FIX IT!
There are loads of things in wow that need fixing or balancing. I really can’t think of a reason to remove portals other than to annoy your core players. Which I can very much assure you, that you are! In a major big way.
Was this a 3 am, smoking something decision? Cause it sure does feel like it.
But regardless…
They want the world to feel bigger, according to Bornakk. To that end they’ve consolidated the portal locations so there are fewer portal overlaps, and simplified them so they take players to hub locations for each continent rather than very specific points of interest.
And took advantage of this to remove severals portals with barely saying until it has gone noticed. What a sneaky move.
So basically they are leaving the portals mages can make appart from Shrine and Crater of Dalaran, and concentrate everything on Stromwind so that the rest of the world feels more alive
In the process, with portals being removed we’ll ha to spend more time (and money) on flight path, which gives no point of interest at all and is time sinking
So at the end it’s more IRL time thus money given for less content
As for Bornakk… I guess he is just the interface. But a statement like “What content are folks doing in like CoT that the portal helps so much with?” is either a complete lack of knowledge about the content in the game that is a part of your job ( and could’ve been solved by 2 min wowhead search because after all no one knows all about WoW, although CoT is not exactly a remote cave in Wetlands) or some sort of irony disguised as genuine interest about players activity.
Sneaky move how? The portal rooms were conceptually announced at Blizzcon. When they went up on the PTR they were availiable for all to see. Isn’t that why we’re having a discussion about them now?
Player bases of big games are weird beasts. Wow is no exception to this. we want everything easy but complain about things being too easy as a whole.
But…
As individuals we play Warcraft in our own way, some of us play every waking moment and some play for 30 mins a day… some of us like raiding and some like lore. The list goes on.
We pay to play Warcraft so we expect value for money. This value is different for each player. Yes, there is an average area that the biggest majority sit in.
We all have individual levels of tolerance to change. Again, for most of us, we sit at about the same percentile.
The thing is Blizzard usually aims there content changes at that percentile. They know they can’t keep everyone happy all of the time and aiming at the largest percentile make any bitter pill seem less so when its the smaller edge percentiles that complain.
Sadly though, they do get it wrong… I can remember when Activision came along and a decision was made to enforce real names on the forums. To them, it seemed like a good idea. For a very big part of the community, it was not.
As far as I can tell from the reaction of the posts and my friends and guildies. This isn’t a good decision. No matter what reason is given.
It’s a forced change that your largest percentile doesn’t like or want. As such Blizzard is adding to the player base negative levels of the game and for some sadly this a move closer to stopping playing.
As I said above… If it’s not broken: DON’T FiX IT!
Sneaky move because they said they would group up the portals for convenience it ends up with removing some portals which was never said and is the opposite of convenient.
None of us claimed to have more knowledge, there you go again, we merely gave our input from the other side of the coin. Some of us play the game and still manage to do things like collect transmog and farm mounts and are not upset about the changes. Our view is no more or less valid than yours.
But for some reason your language is all about attacking the people for their views that don’t support yours and talking them down. It’s actually just plain nasty in my opinion. If you can’t argue for something on it’s own merits and have to just attack people with different views then you clearly don’t have much of a leg to stand on.
It’s like when politicians can’t actually come of with a decent argument and just try to smear the opposition.
I can see that people dislike the removal but my view remains it’s not a big deal but a minor change. It also remains my view that they may compromise if people make decent arguments for keeping some of them and Blizz agrees with those arguments. They may or may not compromise and that is fine.
That is were we don’t agree, it is fine to you, because probably the consequences wouldn’t be as bad for you, what ever the reasons for it.
Removing the portals isn’t fine because it’s a removal of option.
No one force anyone to take portals.
But if portals are being removed some people are forced into another route.
And it is not fine. Because it doesn’t add anything to the game.
I meant that it’s fine with me, not fine with anyone who is objecting.
Clearly some of you don’t want to let go of a single portal. The views are varied and they are bound to be. The game is played by many and we do all sorts of things in the game.
