Can only agree to this very well thought out and worded post big ups
Yes? Calling over your bros? Okey?
While Warcraft has its share of influences from a variety of religions & mythology, I wonder why people keep bringing irl religion into Warcraft in that sense. A lot of lore is not just based from Christianity but also Greek & Nordic Religion and mythology (Especially⌠in wrath of the lich king, I would sayâŚ).
By no means am a religious expert or such whatsoever, just would like to see people kept irl religions and religions in wow split. Of course things can be based on eachother but they are not the same thing nor related to the actual faith in that sense. Playing a worshipper of the holy light in WoW /=/ Someone being a christian in real life most of the times I would think.
In the years of (World of) Warcraft, lore has changed and the world around us has evolved. To the OP who just posted as I typed this. ââGoodââ is just a perception of view, there is a dark/evil side to everything. Even the light has always had this (which here is compared to christianity). Religion (both irl and in game) has done terrible things throughout the history, even if there have been good things about it as well of course.
Youâll find a very cool scarlet guild here on AD that doesnât bleed problematic real life prejudices into the RP. Love every human, hate everything that isnât human.
Roleplay concept idea: Scarlet Guild, but gnomes. Only gnomes.
So do we engage in a topic like normal inividuals or back each other up against your statements? When you go âGAAANG GAANGâ on us it seems to suggest you imply we are engaging in some questionable gang behavior where we are hoping to epicly own you in a forum argument. Especially when you say to Megnarosh that you know he called us over to have a rly epic dunk with you.
I honesty find them both more interesting to read and then later debate (when time permits) than 95% of the drivel the rest of the realm forums consist of.
I couldnât even care less if both Quet and Wrall were baked, drunk or both beyond human reason at the time of them posting because they present their ideas and views in a way thatâs easy to understand and invite discourse.
Iâll say Wrall formulated it better, personally. Queteron leaves the focus on narrative elements less clear to the audience and doesnât link into actual lore.
Gang Gaaang is actually a reference to something GG members themselves have posted jokingly on the Forums before. âGrim gaaaangâ and all that, there is hardly any ill will behind mentioning that one.
Also the latter is completely built on past experiences, where Morsth has had a convo and Meg rushes from the woodworks to assist him. Itâs not exactly any deeper than that Tarrook.
Megnarosh just loves me (as his brother and friend) and shares many of my view points, I hope that one day you will find your own Mengarosh
Please give me more knowyourmeme lore on Grim Gest
Iâm not sure if I would personally ascribe these to Christianity, but this is a very good post for touching on a lot of WoWâs shortcomings as it tried to expand the lore in ways that often failed to make it more morally nuanced.
Itâs an interesting perspective to take and itâs one Iâll probably continue to think about for a while
Koiffen and I had a really intellectual talk yesterday about grammar when the forums went down.
I find it understandable, Morsteth is a great GM who makes sure people feel welcome in his guild no matter past experiences. Also a personal experience as I too once believed him to be the second greatest villain of AD.
I think you are talking absolute bag here and that it is ill intended, i saw the OP and it was a good read. (Bless my fellow christians ) Only to scroll down to see you absolutely crazy posting about how scarlet RPers are hateful towards immigrants.
Iâm not the OP!
Itâs fashionable to say this, but I think most people donât truly believe this, since theyâd be unwilling to follow it to its logical extent.
Is it not simply, unambiguously good to feed the starving, clothe the naked, home the homeless? To strike off the shackles of slaves and stay the blade of the tyrant? In the particular presentations of these acts, one could perhaps find some shades of grey: maybe these acts of charity are being done to massage oneâs ego, or maybe one has to trample ramrod on the wishes of others to achieve them. But the acts themselves, considered in the universal, are simply good. Likewise, to exploit the poor, or harm the defenceless â simply evil.
Augustinian morality says that only good truly exists, and evil is the absence of it. Regardless of whether one subscribes to this monism, most people in the West who try to live moral lives believe (at least implicitly) that good truly exists, and isnât just a nuance.
And regardless of whether this (in the Warcraft universe) comes from the Christian, humanist worldview or whether it is only strikingly consonant with it, the Warcraft universe is doubtlessly impoverished by its removal.
And I aspire to emote more succinctly as a result.
My biggest issue with WoWâs expanding lore is that they either forget things already established or overwrite/change them. But usually does so without factoring in everything else that is impacted by the change.
Everyone deserves a Megnarosh of their own.
