I know its like 6 months old but … precisely this!! Anything but Cataclysm lol.
Cataclysm is such a bad expansion that it has no place in WoW actually. Much like Shadowlands and Little Dragons ( and BfA to some extend - and I mean the settings here ).
Is what already MANY did lol.
But yea, a progression server Vanilla-TBC-Wrath is what most want.
After i’ve been playing since re release of vanilla, tbc , wotlk and cata , i 100% would like to play vanilla → Tbc again but thats it for me. In my head wotlk was the best xpac ever , in reality its a fkn good expantion but its not even near vanilla and tbc after i’ve played it all again.
Please gief a re release of vanilla into tbc again , or release at least 1 server of tbc!
Or you could turn a few era servers into tbc servers or alternately turn some SoD servers into TBC SoD, or just straight up make a new fresh TBC era server that starts from scratch with only Kara, Mag and Gruul up the first few months then progress from there. I mean the possibilities are endless, yet we have nothing
I never understood why Blizzard has never done, for example, a progressive server from Vanilla all the way to Wrath of the Lich King… it’s astonishing to see them being blind or unaware of this since games like Everquest 1 and 2 and Lord of The Rings Online do this.
The bean counters have counted their beans and concluded that the profit margins would not be high enough to bother. But they’re failing to take in other factors such as rapidly decreasing sub numbers from the Cata servers, and the inevitable dwindling of the hype for the new expansion. They’re fixated on short term profit rather than thinking long-term.
Hopefully the increasingly loud demands for TBC servers will force them to sit up and take notice.
So, now that the war within has had its successful launch, congrats to all happy retail players, please silently open a TBC era patch 2.4.3 server already. We just need the one, make it RPVP and everyone is happy. We are practically begging for you to take our money, that must surely be in the interest of the shareholders?
You can handle being ganked once in a while in a contested area if you choose to quest there, its part of the original experience, as long as you’re not corpse camped as you rarely are on a rp-server. Its not like its very hard to avoid the hot spots if you are very scared of meeting the waring faction in a war roleplay game either…
Nope. I rolled RP-PvE server from the very beginning. I do not want others to decide whether I can play or not. Plus I love the HC challenge, so if no HC servers are made I will - as I did from late Cata onwards - do this challenge on the ordinary servers. This do not fit into a PvP server. So plain and simple, if there’s only a PvP server, I won’t play.
I have no interest in being repeatedly ganked and corpse camped by a bored L60 over and over again until I log out when I’m trying to level my L35 character.
And before you repeat that “it doesn’t happen on RP servers” yes it does. And even if the fantasy that ‘people are more mature on RP servers’ were true - the fact that this would be the ONLY TBC means that every single TBC player would be on there, RP or not.
We already know that ganking and corpse camping is rife on Classic Era’s PvP servers like Firemaw or whatever - TBC would be no difference, in fact it would be worse.
Not to mention having only one server offers no respite from all the booster/GDPK lunacy.
