You dont really need strategy and tanking etc like you do in retail, its classic you are the one whom need to relax and enjoy the game, you dont even need a tank cause i have been farming sm with 4 dps and a healer.
Tanks come in handy for a raid boss, dungeons dont really need tanking.

I think you are exaggerating.
The mobs are not as deadly as you say. I play in a group of 3. Me as a rogue - dps, my friend as a tank - arms war, my gf as a heal - shadow priest.
We easily got through every single dungeon even maraudon. Some groups we simply couldnt let all the mobs sit on the tank so I got agro and tanked with my 25% dodge. If it got tough I can always use evasion, vanish. I think you are making a big deal out of it. If someone pulls agro from your target I am sure they have more than one abilities to kite/stun/cc the mob. I absolutely cant stand tanks who start whining about such minor things in dungeons.

Makes sense when tanks are literally useless before 60
Retail requiring strategy now thats comedy.

While I did not tank many dungeons yet, I’m definitely not going to run after DPS. All I need is to put skull and be above healer on threat list. If some DPS is damaging another mob, he can tank it and if healer don’t feel confident in his mana, that DPS can try to heal himself or run from graveyard (because my healer is a druid and he’s not going to spend his rebirth).
yeah go aoe pull in mythic dungeon and try to mythic raiding without any strategy.
or kill end game raid with not full geared players and not maxed level players, nevermind apes just showed how hard classic is.

Well how about you show as all your oneshot.
Go and do it, champ.
Well, if they don’t wanna let you do your job don’t worry too much about it. Just try and get a free run out of them doing minimal lazy tanking.
If they laugh you off at least.
Or you can try to make a name for yourself as someone who is understanding and willing to tank for most anyone.
Or the shortage of tanks could be because a lot of people don’t want to tank. Just like they didn’t want to tank in Vanilla 15 years ago and don’t now.
I agree that a lot of DPS players leave a lot to be desired but even if all DPS were good, or all dungeons didn’t require a tank to know their job, we would still have a shortage of tanks because players don’t like playing them.

If I cleave, i will pull aggro. Tank knows it, i know it, healer knows it - we all know it.
So up to me to pop defensive, tanks not panic and healer just keep me healed enough for me to not die, since when I am about to die, i vanish and healer dies.
Threat in dungeons in classic is a bit more hectic and it is close to unavoidable during levelling process in dungeons that dps never pulls aggro. No need to twist your pants due it and get better nerves, or quit tanking. Most annoying are those tanks, who pull tantrums for no reason.

most ppl here only care about having fun themselves, ITS TEAMPLAY. selfish ppl can go solo their dungeons, im out 90% of the ppl are to dumb to realise it’s not just about what is needed, ye you don’t need aggro all the time, but how much fun is tanking with a bunch of idiots who don’t know what tnaking even is. play some singleplayers games
You can’t do damage if you are dead.
Your dungeon goes slower if the healer has to fully drink every pull.
It isn’t fun for a tank chasing people around the entire run. It is infuriating.
A tank can easily hold aggro if you let him have the initial aggro due to how rage works. You can do all the damage you want if only you just wait 3 seconds with going mad.
You do MORE damage if you wait. Because you wont have adds on you.

Aight, I changed my mind. You suck and I’d hate to have you as a tank with that attitude.
First and foremost I ask my DPS to mind their aggro, stick to one target if we aren’t cleaving (which is supereasy to tank, you just pull back mobs into the group), and wait for 2 sunders on bosses.
If they argue back or start messing with the group I just /ignore and try my best to keep it together.
I will never actively let someone die, but I’m not in a hurry to grab aggro from a hunter that thinks he’s a better tank than me. He just makes my job easier.
Well that’s the Retail point of view… just saying

My shaman basically pull aggro all the times, but caster mobs only, since interrupt gens insane aggro, however better interrupt that, and heal 100 phis dmg on me than tank takes 800 spell dmg.
Didnt have any problem so far in my party.
I take less damage from the 2 mobs I tank after bladeflurry than tank does. I likely do healer a favor with adrenaline+bladeflurry instead trying to focus on one mob.
A dps occasionally tanking aggro is fine. Just also dps should be prepared to either run back to group if ranged, or use own defensive buttons in melee.
Hundreds of groups spamming LFG looking for tank for hours probably don’t know that.

Defensives have long CDs and I don’t think a melee having aggro is a huge issue. The problem arises when 3 different people get aggro from split damage focus and run in 3 different directions.

What rank of Earth Shock are you using?
Aye. Luckily for me (rogues) the defensives are roughly same cd as the one aoe move we have. And for me personally it is important to be prepared for the situation. We run other day with a mage, who constantly pulled aggro, but always came back to mid mobs, blocked or came mid and novaed. And while rogues always focused one target that was running at healer, or the caster (tank cannot always run around to fetch/kick them). Worked fine. We also use occasionally marking for single target - tanks target, and or/most dangerous mob or lowest HP mob. Its not done because of PUGs, but as rogue duo we like to sync our things between ourselves as well.
It was a random mage, who joined us, and when i told him his behaviour surprised me as normally people run away from tanks, he laughed and said he has his moments.
