Nobody gives 2 Fs about watching aggro

I dont’t tank in the classic way anymore.
I eighter join a cleavegroup or I go with people from my guild, people who aren’t stupid.
I don’t do pugs anymore as they make me pull out my hair.
It’s the sad truth.
I’m beyond caring about the select few good people that are actually there with the right mentality.
It’s a game and I will make it fun for myself, hence no more pugs.

To be honest, I kind of expected that to happen.

I still remember, we were at level 60.
We were running a guild run in a dungeon and our GM Tauren warrior asked us 5 sunders before attacking the boss.

We had to reset because one of our members decided to attack after 2 sunders.
He than was told and asked to wait next time.

RFC I still remember, my first dungeon.
Rogue sapped one of the mobs and I attacked, thinking he was going to attack it, we wiped.

In conclusion, classic dungeons were made in my opinion, with the idea that people, have to communicate.
It was always like that in every dungeon, I’ve been through with this character.

Tank was the leader, the rest of us had to follow his pace.
And if you got aggro, good luck, better have that evasive manoeuvre ready or else.
Because the tank is busy and so does the healer.
Bad pull meant a trip to the graveyard or an extensive pause period for mana and hp recovery.

People just forgot that the most important part of a dungeon run is communication.
Group effort.
Working as a team.

What good is rocking that DPS chart, when you are infuriating the tank, that has to constantly correct your mistakes and the healer that has to constantly keep you alive ?

Personally as a Hunter I hated to pull aggro or being healed, it meant I wasn’t doing my job properly.

That’s just a opinion from a player that started WoW in October 2005.

Cheers.

I take pride in my tanking, I’ll pull one by one untill I know what the group is capable of, then pull accordingly. I never rank more than the group can handle BUT I can’t stress enough, getting over aggrod is a real thing and does happen at lower levels.

Maybe in retail. not in classic.

i switched from tank to dps after that change with roar/shout on aoe’s and idc what “classic purist” saying “its classic u SHOULD KILL ONE MOB BY ONE BCUZ VANILIA EXPERIANCE” srsly, its called trash on dungeons for a reasons, i understand preparing for bosses but not trash…

Do Mythic EP full clear without strats.
Do a +15 or higher without strats and ignoring mechanics.

there is no denying that dress up barbie is harder than any classic raid.

If you honestly believe that classic raids are hard I got news for you. Most MC bosses barely have more than two mechanics.
First boss mechanics is sometimes you gotta dispell also there’s more than 1 target to tank.
Compare that to like Mythic Jaina or even just normal Jaina. Mechanics-wise it’s an entirely different game these days.
You can lie to yourself and claim that Onyxia has way more mechanics, but she doesn’t.

Look at it this way; your job is to protect the healer.

That is all. If DPS want to be morons, leave them to it; just keep your healer safe.

The saying from back in vanilla was if the healer dies, it’s the tanks fault, if the tank dies, it’s the healers fault, if the DPS die, it’s their own stupid fault. It’s still true 15 years later

You dont get it do you. I play this game because the game is enjoyable. Working my a** off with 400 button presses per minute and a high stress level to keep everything under control is not enjoyable.

I put up Skull marks and explain kill orders, and I pull as fast as I believe the healer can handle. Yet when DPS cant respect a LOS pull or they ignore the skull I will warn them once, and only once. If they keep doing it I will just kick them straight out of the group.

Been tanking for 15 years. I have no patience for idiots anymore and I have enough self respect not to put up with it.

The attitude of some people here in this thread is quite frankly disgusting. Complete lack of respect for other people and pure selfishness. It’s a group game, and I dont work for you. Find someone else to torture.

It’s not retail point of view, it’s 2019 poit of view regardless if you played retail or private servers. People who have played vanilla for 10+ years, in large don’t waste time on CC or fixating on the 1 member holding all of the mobs. Hell, most warriors don’t even tank, they just do dps and occasionaly switch to def stance and shield on harder hitting bosses or groups.
Tanking in dungeons today is far different than in 2004, if you were expecting to CC 4/5 mobs and do 3 sunders on the 5th before the dps starts attacking, you are not keeping up with the time.

wow that must be a HUGE number of people, do go on sage, wait does this mean i don’t get to drink tea inbetween pulls anymore? because I like doing that :frowning:

High levels of tetris are almost impossible to beat and that does not make tetris a hard game. You are comparing apples with oranges.

Apes would have done the same with present retail raid, if they passed the last 10 years playing it.

First of all if this was true, why is every group spamming world chat “LF1M to random dungeon Need tank!”

And I prefer letting tanks play their role also pre 60. Even if its not as much needed in every dungeon, a tank with lots of experience already when reaching 60 is so much more valuable that one still needing to figure out prot talents and using defense stance for the first time at that point.

Same for all classes really. If people played their roles trough all leveling dungeons instead of only starting to learn what all those other skills and abilities are for after its already required of them, only makes them better teamplayers in endgame content.

I feel like it’s important to lay down the groundwork early:
Mark kill targets with skull and X, say: Wait for 2-3 sunders or watch threat meter if u have it. If you overaggro and get a mob, you are now tanking it - good luck.

Remember, you have to educate these zoomers.
