If normal dungeons drop ilvl 554 gear and the average item level needed for queuing for heroic dungeons is 567, how are we supposed to gear up to that average item level?
My tank was just above the limit for running heroics before the item level jump. World quests award on average ilvl 561 for me.
Is the idea that we’re supposed to farm resonance crystals (kill thousands of mobs), renown rep, world bosses etc. for weeks just to be able to run heroic dungeons on alts?

You get 570+ gear from the big weekly boxes (2/week) for example. You don’t have to kill thousands of mobs for resonance crystals either as there’s plenty of ways to get them.

So to gear an alt, it’s all gated behind doing weekly quests for weeks in other words alternatively get guildies to do armor stack boost runs.
There’s no guarantee you’ll get anything you haven’t gotten before from the boxes, right?
I’ve bought 564 greens from the AH as much as i’ve could, problem is one piece of armor can land at 30k in some cases and it’s just too much to spend on low lvl greens.
And i’m still 11 ilvls below the queueing limit.
Or am i supposed to farm/buy mats for crafted gear and spend a 200k on that just to run HC’s?

Just to run HC’s which is just a temporary stepping stone for running M+.

Not when queueing yesterday. 567 to queue for HC dungeons. The same as LFR.
Maaaaybe they justbuged it with lfr .
Anyway, full normal + wqs + renown + weekly cache ks more than enough .
My friend hit 80 2 days ago , bought some 558s from AH ( 200-300g piece) did weeklies and renown gear and was already good for hcs.

Yes, if you hit 80 with your first character and has been doing the campaign you’ll have plenty for resonance crystals for renowned gear.

Like said earlier, i’ve already stocked up on 558 gear from the AH and ran normal dungeons and is still 11 avg ilvls under the limit for queueing for HC dungeons.
Which means a whole lot of work for just an alt.
I’ve got a job and a life outside the game aswell. I’d like to put most of that time on my main. Not spend weeks gearing an alt to just be able to run HC dungeons.
Might be bug, they seem to break stuff with every reset.
Anyway getting the 567 is not that hard, leveling gets character to around 560, rest can be done with some crafting, auction or warband 571s stored by previous chars.
Use the crafting order system. If you have any Soul Sigils II, that is ilvl570, I think. And if you have 30 Weathered Crests (you should), you can order an Enchanted one and then use it to make the Blue crafts (that are cheap and normally 525-530) turn into ilvl 577-590, depending on quality. Storm dust is half the price it used to be, one piece will probably cost you ~2500-3k and you can choose the stats if you buy a missive as an optional reagent.
A ring or some armor piece (with the lowest ilvl) and you should jump enough ilvl. You can even recraft them later for cheap to hit ilvl590, if there a no good replacements for that slot later, too, so the money is well spent.
Oh, and buy a 584 purple (or two… or three) with resonance crystals from the faction vendors, you should’ve unlocked at least one by now with your main.
EDIT: Trinkets. Buy 2 Darkmoon cards for trinkets, they are ilvl577 and dirt cheap.

These chars have lvl 70 gear…
U usually get 2-5 lvl 80 adventurer items during leveling from boxes
Quests drop 55x stuff, u get 2 crafting runes, rest could solve ah.
During leveling you get no lvl 80 gear since you aren’t level 80. Not sure about what boxes you are about. You are simply below 530 when you ding 80.
My paladin i started on ~490 on lvl 70 and got to 521 with leveling to 80 as you can see.
The new emissary replacements that require 3 wqs done and rewards an 80 box
I didn’t know about that replacement, but that is probably why my 528 ilvl druid got a 571 weapon out of a box immediately when i hitted 80?
On my paladin i only leveled and then basically never logged in anymore. So that char is 521. And that is my point. You do not get to 560 with leveling.
Odd on chars I’ve levelled through dungeons feel like i was closer to 540 then 520. Took me less then an hour to get my warrior into heroic on monday
The funniest is i leveled my paladin with dungeons. The druid i did outdoor content.
Maybe you did start on 525 on lvl 70? I mean, as you look at my chars i did got higher ilvl pieces, just not a full gearset.
Totally unrelated; why is my forum char still shown as lvl 70? It was my first char (and max level) in TWW. I did the whole campaign on it and by far the most outdoor content.
I don’t know what ilvl i was when i hit 80 on my first alt. But i took a tour to the AH and ran some dungeons and was good for HC’s in a couple of hours.
That was before the level jump yesterday though.
There’s 564 in every slot being sold on the AH and they are all fairly cheap
