How about locking these new races behind a fine questchain with maybe some challenge to it instead? I can understand the frustration about having to grind outdated rep with WQs that are totally braindead. Useless gamedesign to be honest.
Youâll find that most of the community today has given up on meaningful content and has embraced the new Blizzard way of putting everything behind time-gated rep grinds and RNG reward systems.
Quantity over quality is the name of the game now.
What medallions care to ask?
Sooooo All those dailys that you did back for the Argent Dawn, for multipole days, is different then doing worldâs quests because âeveryoneâ wanted to run strat and scholo the whole day, right?.. LOL
What dailys?
EhmâŠVanilla had Repeatable Quests, not Dailies.
In general the Vanilla Rep grinds were far more flexible compared to later ones, as you could generally do Open World grinds, Repeatable turn-ins (often of tradeable goods), Repeatable Quests, Instanced grinds and of course good old fashioned regular Questing.
Very little time-gating for the most part.
The most part, as the one annoying thing about many Vanilla Reps was that certain mobs etc. only gave Reputation up to a certain amount and hence you had to calculate when to finally do your Quests.
For example, one reason why people (at least later on) sruck to grinding Strath for their Argent Dawn Rep was that otherwise you had to bookkeep for certain mobs at certain places to get Rep at the right stage (iirc only certain free range Abominations went up to well into Revered).
Cenarion Circle was the one exception (iirc), the Cultists etc in Silithius gave Rep all the way to Exalted (at the high, high value of 1 Rep each iirc during Vanilla).
People who never did the Reps before Cataclysm are going to be in for a shock if they dive into Classicâs Rep grinds (and why pre-Cata grinders got so upset about the vast change - going from months to an hour or so for Timbermaw for example was utter Tauren droppings).
Repeatable and daily is the same for me.
Daily is just a 24 hour reepatable.
Thats the only difference.
Most of us didnt want to farm the stuff all the time just because of rep, hench why I made the comparisson.
The thing is, whenever it will be changed back to the âoldâ system of token farming or whatever rep item it is you may need, people will still complain. They will just ffind something else.
Well that there is the big difference. It is not about âfarm the stuff all the timeâ but it is about farming stuff as much you want, when ever you want. It means you do repeatable 7 times one evening (so, grinds mobs for scourgestones or such) and you can, if you wish, lie down and throw pencils in the ceiling rest of the week where as with daily you have to go and do tiny amount every day.
It is a matter of YOU having power to deside when and how you use your time, and still never âfalling behindâ from your goal.
Etxept, anything repwise in the form of farming is purely because of certain drops and smogs I want(ed). You also have to take into account that I dont wanna spend 1 evening in the same dungeans. I also want to do other stufff like pvp and raiding.
Thereâs more likeminded people like me in that regard. I dont mind either system as it is, but tbh, I dont thoink WQâs are that bad in legion, or ever that bad,. infacct you actually blast through it right now obviously.
You allready have an easyer time then people in legion did
i man you re paying for the expansion + a monthly fee to have evervyhing locked? lol.
Pre bfa allied races have all their rep buffed so instead of farming it for three weeks itâs only gonna take you a week and a half maybe two even less if you have the wq weekly on.
Bingo.
Thatâs the part some people always like to forget about.
I personally did my Argent Dawn by killing mobs at Plaguewood for scourgestones (when ever i felt like it) and normal quests. Never grinded dungeons for that. That was all amongst other things i did in game that had nothing to do with reps. Key thing is, i didnât have to go there every day to do one quest so âi wouldnât miss only change for that 24 hours to gain any repâ.
I donât have anything against world quests on their own, but i do hate having reputations time gated behind them. That system is like one of those mobile games where you go feed chickens once every day and then after 7 days you get egg. You canât feed twice a day, so if you skip one day you get your egg after 8 days. There is nothing fun in it. If reputations would be available ALSO by grinding tokens or just killing mobs, timed style of world quests wouldnât matter.
I am not sure what you mean. I have had continuous sub for 14 years and i have done my allied races ages ago. People of Legion some sort of ironman challenge guild or what?
You want it for free? You want old mounts you must go farm them even farm rep. If you want old pets you also need to farm them. Even transmogs are the same!
Same about allied races. Some of them were added in legion so if you want them you need to farm legion content like we all did.
I got flying in WoD and enough crystals to buy the corrupted mount recently. It was fun. A lot easier and more fun than I expected.
I was looking at void elf as an option to play on alliance and decided to go for it. âGrind rep in Legionâ they say? I would rather smash my computer and play some match 3 mobile game on my phone. I accept that this means no new races for me and will move on and find something else to do.
However I feel about it though, there are others who enjoy powering through older content, as I did WoD and accept that some things probably should be left that way.
Ye it should be free now i mean i did grind for it but damn its such a boring thing to do
Exactly.
Getting a big fat Like the moment I can dole them out again ![]()

I think he means that itâs easier now than back in legion as rep gains from WQ have been increased (twice iirc) and you can OS every mob, making it much faster.
Exactly.

At least in the current PTR you have to grind a rep for the bee mount through turn in iirc. No wq, emissaries or daily, just things to gather in the zone to earn rep
they are really some of the easiest reps to get in the game.
we all grind rep for what we want.
Its not a big deal.
the legion ones are at 120. sorta, but the pain (YET AGAIN) is you cant do it all at once. you need to wait for the emissaryâs to be up, you need to wait for the wqâs to be up. but also it means having to go back and split your time on content you might not have actually wanted to do.
and if you are talking BfA allied races, then its even harder now that the rep isnât cross faction. you could farm highmountain rep on horde or alliance. now, farm proudmore to exalted, you wont get a zandalari troll.
but what annoys a lot of returning players is allied races were promoted as a FEATURE of the game. yet they cant play them for ages after returning. for legion allieds, they have to grind out all the rep from legion which they may or may not already have done depending on when they left. but for bfa allieds (of which out of all the allied races, i think the kulâtirans, zandaâs and DIâs were most looked forward to) you have to reach 120 first, then grind away at the rep.
for someone hoping to jump back into the game with a new shiny character based on the promotional material they saw, just about EVERY player in that group will be sorely disappointed, and it may be enough for them to not bother returning properly.
repgrind to unlock the mainquest that takes longer than to get 430+ ilvl on a fresh char and then go back to 1shot mobs tuned for 350ilvl from uldir patch? yikes
true. i hit 120 on my dwarf over the weekend, and i jumped from about 180ilvl to 403 in about 12 hours played 120. (i had a free weekend lol)
Whole rep grinds for allied races, flying and war campaign is a deaster.
but basically this. reputation has been been destroyed from what it was, to yet another never ending carrot and stick mechanism. shame.
