Wow players usually when they reffer to how wow used to be and stuff, usually mean vanila-tbc-wotlk. After that, blizz gone the modern route with big steps.

Its really hard to tell the difference these days… Who are retail players with valid critism of dragonflight.

I’ve never really understood why people come onto the Retail forum and talk about Classic, or the reverse.

It’s great that someone enjoys a particular version, but why not discuss that on the appropriate forum.

I would quite like to re-do some of the older stories, original Duskwood, westfall, redridge etc.

But I’d miss the mod-cons too much. Markers on minimap, being able to {Skull} npcs, 15 minute hearthstone et al.

Wish they’d add Classic servers with modern ui. Or add in classic zones through Zidormu.

That’s another aspect I don’t understand. This need to make claims about the playerbase and what version is better.

I do not want anything remotely Classic like in Retail. Every time I go and play Classic I’m reminded of how far the game has come and appreciate all the improvements that have been made.

There is nothing wrong with people enjoying the blast from the past. But there is zero need to go and take swipes at another version of the game.

There are no statistics, just people making claims.

Well you do have to give them some credit. It was a long while since we had those Classic prophets evangelizing on how Retail is dead, How the world is ending and only Classic can offer us salvation from purgatory.

You could “try” to reason with them and simply say if you like game version A then simply play game version A and leave those who like game version B to play game version B. Simple. Easy. No drama.

But alas…thats not possible. Its their holy mission to preach how “rEtAIl BUDZ, classIC gUUD” until every person on the 4 sides of the planet hears them…

I’d like to have both the way they are.

I played Vanilla-wow when it was current content, I went back for “lels” to confirm my memory of how it was; while also saying “Told you so” to my friends who argued loads of faulty claims of “how it used to be”.
I have veeeeery little desire to play a slower version of WoW atm, with no new content to explore or engage in.
It can be nice if I want to deadbrain or feel like I can COMPLETE the game, but not for actual content.

your brain is not the best part from your body, isn’t it? Nobody said that we want to play classic how it is. We just said that wow needs to get more to the classic roots because if people still chose to play the 2004 version of it over the modern one, the modern one got a real problem.

Yeah except classic players know and underetand that gameplay is worse since you know its dated content. We dont play classic for its gameplay. We play it for its game desing physolophie. MMORPGs are not about gameplay. You can have best gameplay in tge world but if you desing physolophie is bad your game will not be fun no matter if your combat is fun.

It is wrong if classic isnt suported by developing new content for it. Its easy to say let classic players enyoj classic and retail players enyoj retail when retail leaches on classic players subs and new content is developed from classic players money. You know we would also like to have developed new content for classic game build with classic like game desing physolophie.

Then we wouldnt be have to fighting over attention and everyone would be happy.
