I think this could be explained just by mid-season times in retail. People got their goal in retail and trying something else. It’s not because retail is worse.
In my world more grind makes game worse, not better. But of course it’s just a question of taste.
I think DF and Retail in general is really a case of “you think you want it, but you don’t”.
DF has made it incredibly easy to gear up alts, jump straight into end game content, etc, but the result of that is class identity is basically non-existant, community is basically non-existant (everything is soloable or you just “queue”), and the constant balance cycle are annoying as well. Like for example, my class and spec Preservation Evoker, has been hard nerfed multiple times for the last few weeks, and I’m not talking about tuning nerfs, Blizzard literally wants Prevokers to change their play style and use Emerald Blossom builds instead of Temporal Anomaly. All these constant bi -weekly changes aren’t fun. Let me play the class how I want to without tuning every day, Demon Hunters, Rogues, most classes are all complaining.
I think less is more.
I might give Classic a try, (not WOTKL),but actual Vanilla. Classic+ servers sound great.
That proves still that DF is not that great. We just got a patch and people are already bored? But still, even so, players dropped hard long before DF. It started to decline and keept like that since they started to take “modern convience route”. And that started with small steps since TBC and big steps since cataclysm.
Exactly!
Btw, if they do a classic+, im pretty sure most of the players will play that and forget about modern wow. As long as they dont revamp it somehow, of course.
Reason why you have these kind of issues is becouse you are not mmorpg player. You are just another one of those players what jumped into WoW becouse it was popular but no becouse you actualy enyoj playing a s mmorpg game.
Could you be any more insulting. Seriously you haven’t got the first clue of how serious an MMORPG player I am. I have played more MMO games and have spent more game time playing online games than you can even begin to imagine. So stop spouting nonsense as a way of giving yourself some sense of self importance. We all play our games differently. That is the joy of an open world adventure game. My focus is RPG and its what I do every single day playing this game. I seriously doubt you could even begin to imagine what that means, but hey.
I don’t have any issue with the game by the way. That’s cus I play the way I want to , every single time I log on. Fifteen years I’ve been playing the game and you think I’m not enjoying myself. So funny.
I really wonder how you do that in current wow. Nothing seems meaningful except instanced stuff. Doing storyline quest with speed of light on 800 % speed flying mounts and not interacting with the world and players around you, doesn’t seem to work for me.
Im the kind of player that likes instanced stuff like arenas/bg, but also world pvp, world questing etc. But that doesn’t seem to work in dragonflight. Or in modern wow in general. Just instanced stuff makes sense.
being an mmo player doesn’t mean that you have to enjoy painful one month long leveling till level cap. leveling was part of the main content back then because people had more time and the technology was not improved enough to make many contents so they made leveling a long and painful content o make people feel like it’s the main thing. right now devs can create many stuff in a short period of time so they don’t need to make leveling as hard as it used to be. mmo genre died because of how much time investment these game need to enjoy. there were other genres where you can join and start doing THE content in about an hour but in mmos you still have to spend weeks to at least even try the end game content. that’s why leveling is easier in every game right now. otherwise these games would have way less population.
be real. Its not just about how hard it was. It was more about how flavorful it was. Now leveling is dull and annoying. Feels more annoying to level from 1 to 70 in DF than 1 to 60 in vanila. Even tho you can do it in 1 day in DF, its so freaking annoying and boring
it is about how hard it was. it’s not more annoying because it doesn’t take a whole day to get only 1 level . classic was and is boring to most of the community that’s why it has less players than retail and that’s why people left wow because it was consuming so much of their time
What istanced stuff are you going to do in Vanilla? Judging by your profile, if this DH is your main you haven’t done much in DF PvP wise (thing you said you like to do). PvE you are just complete tragic. What exactly was your goal in DF? Did you achieve it? Mine was 2.4k mythic plus score and i am done with it and now just goofing around with some alts. When it comes to PvP in Vanilla you’ll be stuck to the same 3 bgs ( AV usually being rushed , WSG is pretty much premades most of the time) AB not really sure about it. Since you are not raiding ( at least in DF) you’ll be stuck to those 3 bgs. SOUNDS SO MUCH FUN. Most of the DF population is just taking a break , waiting for season 2 , that could be the reason for the longer queues. Its been like that for quite some time. Once again if you are not satisfied with retail , there is always Classic for you. You aither accept , adapt to this new direction WoW is heading or forever be stuck playing Classic and reminiscing for the “good old days”. Take care bud and have fun whatever you are choosing to do.
First of all, playing AV, AB, or WSG instead of Seething Shores and Wintergrasp? Oh, the horror! PS: Where can I sign up for this?
Second: PvP, have you tried queuing for solo shuffle as a Demon Hunter? 30 minute queue time on average, so you’re lucky if you get to play 2 or 3 games a night, jumping up and down in the Valdrakken simulator
Third: PvE, oh wow, 2.4K io, so elite, I remember getting that back in January. Try queuing up as a DPS DH for a key above 20, and let me know how long it takes you to find a group.
What is the guy supposed to do? Yeah, he could have pushed his character harder in an aspect of the game, but honestly, even if he did, he would be on the same boat right now; you’re playing queuing simulator for a good proportion of your playtime.
wut? classic is 20 years old, with no updates. And it still got as many players as live. Haha. There’s a a reason wow used to have 10 milions+ back in vanila-tbc-wrath era, and now it got only around 2 milions. With half of them being classic players.
And no, it wasnt about how hard it was. It simple was more fun. Leveling in live is a bad design. So boring and annoying.
what do you mean? I did 2100+ rival rating (that’s top 3-4%). Way harder to get than dumb mythics+
Did all the pvp content and even more. But its getting boring. Because my character still feels like a fresh character. Because gear upgrades dont matter. It feels like i waste my time getting high rating and farming bgs. So yeah, df starting to feel pretty dull.
times changed. it’s about time not classic being better. it’s not better and it doesn’t have more players, a big portion of wotlk players are bots. no one wants to spend all night to do a single ulduar raid or spend weeks of free time to just level one char. SoM failed, Classic servers went down to 10 players , hardcore mode is the only thing that’s holding them up right now. also, if you prefer to spend months to prepare one char. then you can do it in classic. retail is the MODERN one, it’s about preferance and people want it to be this way so it’s this way. none of the top 5 mmos have hardcore leveling anymore. it’s not more fun for majority , that’s why it has changed.
No i think you enyoj yourself and you like game. But no becouse you enyoj playing mmo games. Becouse WoW isnt mmorpg. If you would truly like playing mmos you wouldnt be playing retail. Becouse retail has nothing to do with being mmo. Its glorified “looter shooter” game with optional multiplayer.
Yes it does. I dont like it being more popular and i would also rather play retail but its just isnt fun to play compared to classic. I wish Blizzard would just go back to old formula which was whole reason why WoW become popular in first place. Game become popular and fun fthanks to classic desing while current modern desing hard fails to atract new players and fails even harder to retain them.
Not true. Classic getting massive amounts on players on servers right as we speaking.
Yeah, its about preference. And most of the wow player base prefere the game how it used to be, not how it is. You’re a minority. That’s why DF got such a low subscribtions numbers. Ofc, we want a modern touch on it too. But the old bases.
