Forcing someone off a server, in general, is a horribly petty thing to do. Some good people have been chased away for their mistakes and it, quite frankly, sucks.

People shouldn’t ERP in public, no, but lynch mobs in general are a terrible idea and the extent to which some people go far outweighs the ‘crime’ that’s been committed.

Is ERP against the TOS? Yes.
Should you report it? If you want, yes.
Is it an evil thing to do? Stupid, sure, but not outright evil.

There are cases when I’d say it might be worth the fuss that’s kicked up like if it’s rape or something like that, that should simply never be roleplayed, but in general it’s a massive overreaction when there’s the far simpler solution of reporting.

While the ‘think of the children’ argument is not being used in good faith by the majority of people here who use it (given the other sorts of things most of these players say and do to and about others, I don’t for a second believe them to be genuine), but regardless of these people’s intentions, it’s still a worthy argument if used by someone who genuinely is concerned.

I think the chances of a minor stumbling across ERP are relatively low and, at the end of the day, 12 year olds aren’t idiots and will likely have some idea of what’s going on. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s okay for people to simply approach others for ERP and assume that they’re of age etc, which is (apart from it being a bit cringe) the main reason that public ERP is bad. If it’s behind closed doors with two consenting adults who know for a fact the other is a consenting adult, then sure. But in most cases, there’s too much uncertainty.

At the end of the day, I don’t think most ERPers are bad people. I think they’re people who did something dumb while being careless and ignorant of potential harm they could cause. Most, I imagine, likely didn’t cause any actual harm, but the potential is of course there.

I don’t think the general response they’re met with on this server is the right one at all, though, and is mostly driven by a weird culture we have here where we need to make ourselves feel better by belittling others and outright mocking them. I used to do it myself, and while hindsight is 20/20, it was an incredibly cringeworthy way to act.

Yo people. Here’s a thought. Maybe don’t toss insults to others here and have some decent talking instead of humblebrags, calling your goons to defend your points and throwing “Are you ok?” around like a hot potato. Heated topic, sure, but if you can’t defend your points alone or resort to just flaming the other side you clearly do not know how to debate. This is adressed to both sides having a argument here.

Just need to jump in here to point out that during my brief stay on HoC I met some of the greatest RPers I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing this game with.

RG and HoC does indeed have quantity but with such a number of quality players amongst them I can honestly say that they are pushing any new people in the right direction.

Also shouldn’t the booting of pedos be commended?

I never like being serious so I’ll make this quick.

If you had more sufficient evidence, people would act upon it , but so far all you have is a cropped out of context conversation with a bad meme inserted for extra measures. If you truly believe there is something more shady going on, get more evidence then report it to the law, not to a Forum about an online video game ,BUT ONLY when you have truly enough trustworthy evidence to make such claims.
