So are us the others happy to play Classic fresh as it is.
There is one item a trinket from BWL called Dragon fang talisman (DFT). We we pretty semi-casual guild with more that 70% casual players in 2020. Our Alliance guild roster had around 2 fury prots, a feral bear OOT (RL), 6 dps warriors, 5 rogues a feral cat/OOOT and 4 hunters.
Loot Council decided following:
- First and second DFTs go to fury prots as they needed solid threat generation for us to progress.
- 3rd and 4th were given to best dps warriors.
- 5th were given to 3rd tank aka feral bear Raid leader.
- 6th and 7th were scheduled to best dps Roguesā¦
And then hit the fan. It was announced that after two best rogues DFT is going to free roll for all the rest 4 warriors and 3 rogues. Hunter rose up saying they need DFT too, so that they can replace hit scope with dps scope on their ranged weapons. I asked if feral cat can roll on it too then, but was met with complete silence on the matter.
My situation at the time was that even though I cleared Ony and MC I didnāt even had hit cap struggling with 6% hit gear most of the time, despite, having 86Ā±3% logs and sitting slightly above worst 6th (big fish in small pond). Problem was I couldnāt take off my Wolfshead helm because my dps depended on powershifting, meaning I couldnāt replace head slot with anything having hit, like mask of the unforgiven. Warriors on the other hand had not only had better head options like Lionhearth helm, but more armor available for them in general with all mail and leather items at their disposal. Rogues even had hit on their tier set gear. Feral had dungeon blues and green garbage with select few purples having only raw stats on them that most of the time increased attack power. I was very unlucky with UBRS shoulders as they didnāt dropped for me for 5 months of farming it every 3rd day or so with 2 of them lost to rogues.
As for my role in the guild I volunteered to raid lead and tank for second ZG split team (20ppl) when phase 4 begun. The decision about 6th and 7th DFT priority was made after I already had led 2 weeks of ZG (about 5 runs) and should had led 1 more week before going to my seasonal work at sea in late spring.
From private chat I had with officers whom I replaced as ZG RL (as he was too busy IRL to lead ZG himself for the time being, yeah not too busy to attend to BWL it seemsā¦) I found out that feral was not on the loot council list for DFT. A item that would allow my cat to be hit capped and raid without struggling as I was, due to poor specialization for the feral spec in Vanilla, while the rest of blue/green log warriors and rogues were MH hit capped already in phase 2 and replaced good gear with great one for OH hit.
Yup it is true, that by that time loot council gave me the 2h mace (that only some warrior wanted for PvP) and some leather piece (was it the gloves?) from BWL. But it was nothing compared to suggestion that I should farm UBRS shoulders instead. I farmed them for 5 months. 2 of them went past me, both to rogues, no more dropped since then. As I was Alliance druid I didnāt had green trinket rewarding hit that horde players have in their pre raid too.
Realizing that my efforts mean nothing for council as I might be simply replaced by any new warrior in the nearest future, who surely get DFT prio before me, as council were praising them. In may 2020 I decided that after 2 months of seasonal work I would reroll to a warrior myself. However I got burned out, played Divinity Original Sin II to chill out, then other games and only returned in 31 of march 2021.
No more none meta specs/classes as main for me. I enjoy being useful and not left behind.
Loot council is stupid and unfair.
Guilds should have dkp. You contribute, gather dkp and can spend it on anything you want without any explanation to anyone.
Sadly like the person above me mentioned, loot council is very flawed and often biased in terms of playing favourites. It caused issues for my super nice casual guild in TBC as well, issues which were not present in Classic when we didnāt have a loot council and just went with a MS>OS +1 system. My loot council drama memory came from the Dragon Spine Trophy (DST) from Gruul, it went to a hunter with the sole reason that he was liked in the guild. While the trinket was good for him, the reason given left a lot of melee DPS pretty annoyed about it, myself included as an enhancement shaman. Didnāt help that the trinket never dropped again for us, and I never got a chance to get one since that guild fell apart mid T5. I think my take away from experiences like this is that when it comes to loot, an impartial system is needed to prevent people from being/feeling unfairly treated and allowing resentment to build over it.
