LOL they really did. Last time i checked, there were only negative responses.
Gues what Overwolf, closing your eyes and pretending there’s no problem won’t fix your reputation / the issue at hand.

I’m pretty sad about it, it was probably my most-liked tweet ever ![ ](https://d1bg94bbsh66ji.cloudfront.net/en/wow/images/emoji/twitter/smiley.png?v=12)

This is amazing, I’ll be updating as many of the manual links I created today, tomorrow with the links on your page.

They won’t listen, but it will come back to bite them in the a…backside.
thanks! that would be appreciated. This is the repo:
If we get enough of the important addons to offer github releases, we could easily have a git-based addon manager without the need to scrape off curse.
I managed to find 1.6k git repos out of 7.6k WoW addons today

Hopefully more addon authors realise that using github will gain them more traction than staying with curseforge and overwolf.
A github manager is a dream.

We can win this guys, you don’t have to tweet or comment on Overwolf’s pages, all we need to do is stop using CurseForge and try and get Mod Authors to post to github.
I have severed my ties with Curseforge by disconnecting my Twitch account from my CurseForge account.
The curse forge kickbacks are a hella drug lemme tell you, you can only hope that they will host their addons in multiple places but the big developers for sure will be in no hurry to migrate their addons off curseforge/overwolf.
as visible on the link that I posted, the majority of big addon developers are already using github - only a few of them tag releases on github though. Notably DBM, WeakAuras, Details and BigWigs
But the ones that dont wont be in any hurry to migrate to it thats what im saying, and even then git hub is used more as a “staging area” from where the developers can distribute their addons, but i doubt the intent has been to see it as a distribution platform for the masses.
Which is what I said by “few of them tag releases”.
Of course, if we end up having a git based addon manager, cloning master into your addon folder isn’t a viable solution.
IMO it’s about the community asking them to use github and tag releases.
I think your going to see alot of reluctance from them and if id be honest i think its a bit much to expect that addon developers will change their workflow because of the takeover.
They care about revenue streams too, and thats something that github doesnt provide… there is a reason why wowinterface is often a bit behind curseforge when it comes to releases.
I wish for nothing more than an open source repository for everything but realistically it would be near impossible to convince everyone to jump aboard.
And in terms of ads is a question whether we get adds thrown into our face 24/7 that consume a lot of CPU usage while running in the background or just a random photo to the side which nobody of us really cares about that switches from time to time.
It’s gonna be the former or just straight up malware.
Guess we’ll see. Im not gonna play devils advocate. If its the latter then its their lot anyway as people will go and use loopholes.
i also wanted to add, i saw this post on a reddit thread and it brings up a good point, curse offers developers alot more than just a place to host addons:
To be honest I think alot of mod authors is going to be just as reluctant about using Overwolf as the rest of us. They play the game as we all do and I’d be suprised if they don’t know about the bad rep O. has as well as by now they are sure to know about the extremely low support it has from us players.
I said that earlier in the thread as well. Whatever alternative emerges, needs to offer a revenue stream to addon authors. It’s only fair.
