Sounds fun.
I think she does. Itâs her own interpretation of the lore, really. Iâve always felt that Stormwind is never far away from a riot: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/story/short-story/leader-story/varian-wrynn
Thereâs a few things in that shortstory that show that not all of Stormwind is as content or loyal as theyâre expected to be:
-
The nobles disagree openly amongst eachother. Varian manages to silence them, because they fear him. I doubt they fear Anduin as much. Anyway, nobles who act against the interest of the king doesnât necesarily mean a riot, but their ringleader is the son of Gregor Lescovar, who we all remember from pre-Cata as the guy we get to kill for SI:7 in the Stormwind Keep garden, after discovering he was working with the Defias.
-
When Varian doesnât show for his speech, the crowd quickly turns from cheering to grumbling, and the generals present seem rather afraid that things might turn horribly wrong, forcing one of them to take the stage and talk about Steam-tanks just to keep them distracted.
-
When set upon in the graveyard, Varian assumes theyâre being attacked by assassins. Could be assassins of all sort of factions, but he seems to expect assassination attempts on his life from just about any angle.
Anyway, I donât see how a riot would be against the lore, or if they did happen, why the guards would go mental and outright murder everyone involved. In fact, most of the Stonemasonsâ ringleaders were thrown in the stockades when captured during the riot (see the old quests regarding the Defias plot). The rest (Vancleef) were only killed because they were plotting after the facts.
Nice addition. Almost forgot about that comic!
The other pieces of lore I used to justify this protest is the new book. There are still night elves and worgen in Stormwind which are known to not be happy about the peace treaty.
Void elves as well are still not very kindly seen and welcomed. Bit of a spoiler, I suppose, but it is shown how even Jaina herself is super distrustful of the void. The people who have been touched by it are absolutely horrified/ânever the same againâ. Add all of those factors in addition with the Scarlet/Defias being the usual trouble makers they are in Stormwind and I really donât think youâd have a happy city overall.
Thereâs ambient text in the Dwarven District from two dwarves, Therum and Kaita Deepforge (unsure how theyâre related). Therum - the royal armourer to Varian - grumbles about Anduin attending a Horde funeral and says heâs a soft king.
EDIT: It took about 20 run throughs but I got the quotes. Cannot stress enough that this isnât just some guy - this is a royal armourer saying this.

I wonât spoil things, but speaking of Void, I did enjoy its portrayal greatly in this novel. Even inspired me to write a small story for my mage.
Despite being trusted enough to have them join the 7th Legion and Anduin seemingly being a-ok with Alleriaâs methods, the common rabble is probably as fearful and suspicious now as they were a year ago. Some may even believe the strange elves presaged the events of NâZoth and his creepy minions.
It would be interesting to see any Night Elves at the protest (even if theyâre not the target audience), particularly the refugees who feel they were promised justice for their people and a home thatâs safe to return to.
Death and banishment for the Death knight, demon hunter and void elves! they are twisted foul creatures. may they all find a shallow grave soon :3
Choosing certain races / classes comes with IC down sides, if you are a DK, do not expect to be crowned king/queen of the party⌠Unless it is DK party held in icecrownâŚ
The best kind of party.
And those ice sculptures were so real-looking.
I might show up on a low lvl human that Iâm thinking of actually having as a bandit/pirate or similar, but thereâs also a pet night-event in Dalaran the same evening that sounds interesting so weâll see which one I attend, either way, hope this goes awesome
I think people assume that the whole protest is planned out to be a win for the protesters and that they wonât be owned, but in reality events like these are fully primal, the ending isnât set and its based on interaction.
The protest could be peaceful, it could be stomped down by guards or it could even have some entirely unexpected outcome. youâll have to be there to see which one it is.
as a void elf main i support this line of thinking.
I play the void-abomination race for the tension it brings pls + ty
Probably not after that XD
hey, this is unrelated to the riot, but i just want you to know
People like you are at least 70% of the reasons why I RP Scarlets, itâs always fun to see people get their knickers in a twist because âaaah Scarlets all deadâ while forgetting that Lordaeron is a massive kingdom and the Scarlets were spread out all over it.
Preach, Queen.
It has more to do with the numerous and heavy defeats to me personally, but I have long since learned not to assume their total demise. They are dusted every other expansion or so.
Welcome to WoW where every race and faction has been genocided at LEAST once.
Indeed, hence why I said Lordaeron is a massive kingdom and the Scarlets were spread out all over it; at the time when most of those defeats occurred, the Scarlet Crusade was so fractured that realistically speaking far from all crusaders would have gained words of the rebuilding efforts in the Scarlet Monastery, let alone had the ability to travel there assuming they even wanted to do so.
You RP out of spite? I like you.
WoW villains arenât very good at their jobs.
canât believe that there is a scarlet crusade emisarry npc in stormwindâŚ
