A game which is not relevant on social media dies fast.
Wow has always been relevant with or without streamers, but that doesnt mean streamers didnt make it even more relevant.
When a new game launches, the streamer reception is really important and that will be the case for shadowlands.
You saw it with classic and it will happen again with shadowlands.
People calling a game dead with millions of subs then they think a streamer with 40k viewers is what helps a game?
I can see them helping an obscure little indie game but not a well established game like wow thatâs been around for years. Especially when lots of them constantly say the game is bad, howâs that helping or promoting the game in a good way? Hey person thatâs never played wow âthis game sucks!â How does that help the playerbase exactly?
But thereâs more to that. People are convinced that being famous makes someoneâs opinion more worth than others xD Like, I really like Henry Cavill but I still wonât adore anything heâs saying just because he is him (sry Schmusedecke and Daestra ).
Literally most new games, (no matter how big or small they are) sponsor streamers to play the game for X hours for 10s and 100s of thousands of dollars.
Asmon might not help WoWâs playerbase a ton but Runescape had 157,445 players last weekend when Asmon streamed it, breaking the gameâs record.
They actually happened in his streams and many streamers pointed out his toxicity vs Retail (that he failed to play like the rest retail players)
Everyone does indeed, but only 2 people used classic to bash retail and get more followers and views. They are both back and on their knees talking about retail now.
Next step is OMG SHADOWLANDS IS BAD we all go WOTLK because this plan worked well for them.
40k concurrent viewers. Just check how many views his vods have. He usually rants about bad designs implemented to wow and he always says wow is his favourite game. Youâre twisting facts a bit to suit your argument good sir. Social media had massive impact on wow development imo and most reasonable streamers try to make wow better.
Everyone who for example complains about Asmongold, only does it because they wish they were him and equally as successful.
So every opportunity they get, they act toxic out of jealousy. Of course they would never admit it, theyâll just come up with the same old excuses such as âI want to play video games instead of watching others playâ.
Games didnât used to need streamers to be popular. I like most players am in my mid 30âs now and feel like we need streamers like we need the kardasians. Its just more social media nonsense. BOOMER OUT.
Iâm not twisting any facts, I wasnât just talking about him anyway, He constantly says the game sucks though. How is that twisting a fact exactly? He doesnât? I guess I was on something when Iâve seen it multiple times? Saying Asmongold is positive about Wow is laughable and youâre claiming Iâm twisting facts.
It getâs even worse when celebs try to endorse a politician and get involved in politics. I want to buy your cd not hear your politcal views!
You know what I meant, Itâs like nitpicking the comment to make it wrong. My comment obviously doesnât imply they can never be right. However they arenât a perfect source for facts. I thought my post made that obvious?
Nice to take one line out of the post and not use it with the context. I obviously meant their opinion isnât a fact because they sit in front of a webcam.
Runescape devs have been known to keep the game updated in a proper manner and the player counter has always increased⌠it was never below 100K since 2019 and only has been rising and that wasnt due to Asmongold, Infact, he didnt make a record of people playing that game at allâŚ
