A discussion post, I’ve always seen TBC as a more complete version of classic. The game keeping the core values of classic but being more fleshed out, with things like off specs such as a feral or ele being viable etc.
I see alot of people post on here being very negative about TBC, was it not a very well recieved expansion?
Nah, situation is the same as it was before classic, retail players saying “oh only small vocal minority wants to play vanilla”… now it’s only classic players doing the same treatment to TBC.
While I have the feeling many retail player are a lot more open for woltk / tbc / cata. As that three are the most popular privat server and also had good pvp
Which seems to be turning out to be true as the hype is more and more going away
Well we could argue that it’s the poor choices made by blizzard and inability to fix any issues that causes the hype to die down… or not, but who can know for sure.
Also population balance issues, which is player caused issue that would require blizzard to force somekind of balance.
Somewhat yes, but for example AV, why they gave this poor version that wasn’t what majority played in vanilla? But yes i agree that most problems are player caused now.
I don’t blame blizzard aside from AV fiasco… but so many others do and so they leave the game. Could be they thought the wanted, but didn’t. I’m just typing what i’ve seen others say for reasons they might quit.
Those who joined like month or two before tbc i wouldn’t count as really being vanilla players tho… but those who played vanilla saw the old av with hard npc’s n stuff majority of their playing time. But damage is done now either way so it hardly matters.
I enjoy both versions anyhow (i mean retail and classic).
In fact im more interested in tbc and wotlk but I would have loved to have a more “classical” and rpg experience with them
Aka adding proper changes and removing flying. We all know even today in retail that flying was opening pandoras box. Only allow flying in one zone like netherwing and stormpeaks. Let proper world pvp be revived (and not this rank 14 chase that requires no skill).
Honestly for me classic is just a warm up for tbc.
I’ve always seen TBC as an invasion of the Marketing & profit right into Vanilla.
They already had produced early content for new patches.
The CFO came and said, they were gonna make twice the earning by packaging all of these into a new box.
Later, they even went to split extensions into 2 extensions (WOD + Legion).
