People seem to be down on TBC?

In av or classic as whole?

In fact, so many ppl quit that sub numbers more than doubled over the next two years.

Either a LOT more people liked TBC compared to Vanilla and then subbed to make up for the losses… or, more likely, not as many ppl as you assume actually quitted.

In classic as a whole. It came up after people complained that leveling wasn’t as hard as promised

Yeah that could be true… but kinda silly to expect leveling being as hard as it was when people were playing wow for the first time and were complete noobs.

While other things might be true, not everyone likes flying mounts etc. but classes were definitely NOT “streamlined” in TBC. If anything classes got more fleshed out and in depth while staying true to their core. Classes in TBC felt much better, more complex, more immersive and were more fun to play than in vanilla.

I think that TBC is awesome but we have waited so long for Classic that there’s no need to rush it, maybe in 2022. Let’s enjoy Classic.
Blizzard should really stop rushing phases because of whiners on forums.
This is an MMORPG, if some players are bored maybe they should stop playing Classic as if it were a MOBA or FPS game!

The problem, sadly, is that a lot of people here don’t even remember which things were introduced in which expansions. I’ve heard people thinking that Druids got a normal resurrection in TBC, that dual spec was in TBC, and many other things that makes you wonder why you even waste your time talking with these people. The more you talk with them, the more you realize that they don’t hate TBC - they mostly hate modern WoW, and just assume that every expansion was like BFA.

EDIT: Adding “Windfury Totem only added Haste % in TBC” to the list, just fresh from a few mins ago on another thread^^

Vanilla lasted ~2 years though  Current releases were on average close to the original. Nothing was rushed although forums were offended that others play the game differently.

Vanilla, TBC, WoTLK or even MoP have for the most part their own audiences. Only some would move from Classic to TBC realm and alike. Plus some are afraid of unknown - they know vanilla but not expansions. Or they are afraid of their status or that someone would dare to play other version of the game - we had some Classic+ topics that were very vague and usually never looked beyond “a new raid” and “a new dungeon”. And like with Classic - if TBC then “changes?” topic.

It can be announced at 2020 Blizzcon giving like late 2021 release and late 2022 for next retail expansion. And Classic isn’t going away. They could use the pserver method of releasing fresh Classic realms where people could reroll and start truly from scratch and have 2 years of content progression just like now. Some would go TBC, some would stay on old realms, some would reroll, some would play retail or more than one version.

2022 would make Classic last much longer than Vanilla ever did, and I don’t see Blizzard going down that route - or players receiving it well. They’ll need something for 2021 to fill the lull of content amid Shadowlands, and it’ll almost assuredly be TBC. Launching TBC in 2022 would almost surely mean launching it on the same year as the expansion after Shadowlands, and I doubt it’d make much sense from a marketing PoV.

Most likely, we’ll have something like BWL somewhere in Winter 2020, ZG somewhere in Spring 2020, AQ somewhere in late summer 2020, and Naxx at the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021 with a TBC announcement at Blizzcon 2020 for summer 2021. This is my prediction, at least

TBC is the best expansion wow got. Everything was down hill after that.

Yes, TBC was the absolute pinnacle of WoW’s development, and was an almost perfect gaming experience in every way, and sets the template from which all other MMOs are measures.

No Blizzard release since has come even close to that level of excellence.

TBC was the beginning of daily quests and flying mounts. Not really my cup of tea

Have you ever considered, uh, not doing them? Shocking concept, I know.

As a completionist, no

Maybe you should seek medical aid then, instead of blaming the game.

By that logic, don’t you feel forced to get Exalted with Gelkis and Magram Centaur or get all 8 classes to 60 (BiS maybe?) or get all the pets in Classic too?

So you want everyone to be like you?

No but I find it hilarious how some ppl complain about optional content that doesn’t even affect their gameplay (at least until 2.4, TBC dailies are few and mostly limited to mounts and other vanity items as rewards, besides gold. The only remotely worthy dailies are perhaps cooking ones iirc)

Pretty sure it has epic rewards, doesnt it?

Aside from Quel’Danas dailies no, it doesn’t.

Why so many people speak about TBC without even knowing what the hell they’re talking about?

If I want a faction done with, i want to do it at my own pace. If I want to do it in one run - let me do it in one run (Timbermaw like)
