Pet Peeve: The Undying

Space Marine as a game definitely made a point of making you feel heavy.

Peeve is weather creeping into my joints, making me feel more like an old car or crane than a person. I need oiling.

Ah man I missed all the Warhammer talk.

Everything I can think of has already been said. The setting doesn’t need female marines. There’s multiple factions that are brimming with badass women. The Sisters armour is a bit weird I will agree, but their lore is great and I highly recommend the Sisters of Battle Omnibus novel bundle. They’re nuns with guns to the extreme but they’re actually characters you can empathize with whereas with Space Marines they’re walking bricks.

Even assuming female space marines became a thing, by the end would they even be recognisable as female? The sheer amount of drugs, implants and other stuff turns pretty beefy guys into absolute units on par with male tauren. Even assuming the gene seed was retconned to allow female marines just for the sake of diversity (in an already surprisingly diverse setting if you look past the poster boys in armour) by the time they’re finished being roided up they’d look exactly like male marines anyway. Or would it be preferable for them to be significantly slender? At which point we just have Sisters but taller.

If you want female marines that badly you’ll be happy to know that the “sigmarines” in Age of Sigmar have chicks in their ranks. And plenty of models for them too. 40k and the like suffers in that department because most of the models for the Guardsmen are super old.

Failing that the Sisters of Silence are a thing. And they’re the elite of the elite on the Imperium, serving alongside the Custodes.

Or just play Eldar or Tau. /shrug

But seriously the SoB Omnibus is great. There’s a chapter where a Sisters regiment steamroll the defences if traitor guardsmen, many of which run in fear, beg for mercy or are just in awe of the ferocity on display. When they release plastic Sisters of Battle I’m going all in and I’ve not played the tabletop since 2009.

  • Gimme Vulpera at last Blizzard so I can race change and have a reason to RP my Rogue now!

  • I remember how fun it is to play Survival Hunter.

  • Can we finally get a release date for 8.2.5 finally? Or is Blizzard leaving us marinate up until Blizzcon?

Ontop of that they are (as far as i know) the only Imperial faction that actually has “Demons” of the emperor to, known as the living saints to which they can ascend.

Yes! A fellow Brother/Sister of Vol’dun!

I would love Vulpera! They are scary, vicious, but amazing little things.

But they are having the same weird pushback as Pandaren had/still got from the “lol WoW is not a kids/furry game, its just to weird and stupid” crowd.

8.2.5 is a myth, updated models an urban legend. It will never happens.

I know its a joke but it feels like it’s true.

“Due to cirumstances we can’t explain, we will not be providing updated models in the 8.2.5 patch. Estimated time now is sometime during patch 9.3”

Originally I was just gonna play one ironically.

The sheer amount of hatred I can unleash by my mere existence sounds
 Incredible.

But now I warmed up to the idea of genuinely just having fun with that.
My only problem being that Vulpera have poor bases to build a background. You can either be one of Vol’dun travelling beyond the dunes or be a former (or current) Pirate/Sailor who somehow was never seen outside of Kul Tiras.

I’ll figure something good for me ofc, but I really, really dislike how the world building of WoW with races presumably that travel a lot just pop out of nowhere without us ever hearing about them and now we gotta pretend they were always there all along.

Yeah last I checked the Space Marines couldn’t pray so hard they become demigods that can part the skies with their sheer willpower.

Actually on reflection
I think Spehs Mahreens and Kayohs Mahreens might be the only factions that are boys only clubs? Literally every other faction, afaik, has chicks among them to some degree (Aren’t there female Necrons around? Not that you could tell
) with the only issue being the armour makes them indistinguishable (Tau) or they have old, old models that are all dudes with faces made of clay (Guardsmen) from about 15 years ago?

So that’s a pile of factions that can potentially be 50/50 between sexes, two factions that are boys only and one that’s girls only. That doesn’t seem too bad to me and I was one of the people who used to suspect GW had a sexist streak (Remember that time the Grey Knights slaughtered Sisters and bathed in their blood to become double immune to Chaos for literally no reason?) but in recent years I think they’ve really improved without going completely overboard.

Hell if I had the time and money I’d probably have an army of entirely female Sigmarines by now, I just think they look so much cooler than the dudes tbh.

This is a -major- issue with WoW, and it peeves me so much. Tortollans are suddenly described as a race more ancient than elves who travels all of Azeroth, but we never saw one, or heard of one until BfA(or the HS expansion).

Same with how every major patch or expansion introduced some massive chunk of land that’s -totally- been there the entire time, but has no records of it in history.

My theory is Kul Tiras had the same cloaking technology as Uldum.

Pandaria had the Mists at least, Northrend was literally hell but colder, so Kul Tiras just
 being there bugs me too.

Go for Vol’dunai. They have a more interesting culture with the nomadic, survival focused Lifestyle based around cunning tricks and trade.

You could also make up some great stories with a Vol’dunai struggling against the Sethrakk, since the apparantly house a gigantic empire beneath the dunes.

Another peeve of mine is Blizzard writing in these massive scale things but dont show it in the world.

they’re basicly soul driven terminators, so yeah.

For them there is the legion of the damned but you can’t become or join them to my knowledge.

His story would be standing ontop of you wearing a raincoat stealing my coin purse.

They should make it a mega dungeon like Mechagon. then it doesn’t take up a raid slot but still has a good high difficulty.

The thing is, it really wouldn’t take much effort to hint at future races (not playable ones.) being around the world.

WoW already has flavor text for even grey items hinting of the customs of races. They could even make books that have been across the world, just for the sake of giving time to players (But really Roleplayers specifically) to get prepared and accustomed to the incoming races.

Pandaren are a good example of how you can make an ancient race properly hidden from the rest of the planet. Vulpera don’t have magical mists that hid them for ages
Same with the landmasses of KT and Zandalar.

I just can’t wait to go to the other side of the planet
At least there, my OOC self won’t have to internally struggle with the idea of “How on earth was this hidden all the time and no one found it?” because at least
People found it, but the reason why it was never unveiled was X or Y.

Likely will. At least I’ll dodge the stupid sailor nonsense of a Vulpera that’s never been outside of Kul Tiras for some reason
Plus I hate Pirate way of talking so that’s a plus.
