The director/producer and dev team have stated that these quests are going to be consolidated in a future patch (5.3/5.4 if I recall correct). Yeah, it sucks doing it the first time around. But at least once its done, its done as there’s no need for alts on XIV outside of retainer space.
Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers absolutely make up for that painstaking slog and is very much worth the effort.
1-50 is tolerable. It’s the 2.1-2.55 storyline of ARR that’s torturous. I can handle a mediocre story if it’s accompanied by fun gameplay and character progression. But I can’t progress the character any further until I’ve unlocked the 3.0 content.
Hopefully Heavensward is as heavenly as everyone else says it is, because there’s no slog comparable to this misery in WoW.
That still pisses me off and puts me off playing Trooper to this day.
All they’d have to do is make one of the specs extend the range of most of your abilities but noooooo. Instead I have to run in to pistol whip people like an idiot instead of shooting them.
They could but the miniguns were their primary weapon type iirc. Rifles tended to have better stats for the vanguard while miniguns had stats better for commando but it has been ages since I played. I thought the cannons looked daft so I never bothered.
Fortunately this was a one off mistake. The transitions between future expansions are significantly shorter with far more story to them, whereas 2.X has a lot of running around doing very little of note. It’s a shame because there are good story moments in there but they’re buried under a HUNDRED quests where you’re just unlocking side content.
The main problem is ALL the side content added in patches was tethered to the MSQ. Future post-launch content patches would add a tiny number of MSQs while delegating most content to side quests instead which is much more tolerable (I highly recommend doing the Crystal Tower though, but that is much later).
The devs have acknowledged that it and ARR as a whole are a huge slog. Too much running around. The story moves too slowly. There’s barely any voice acting (And what there is sounds like random janitors being pulled into the recording booth). They said they will be condensing ARR and the 2.X content in 5.3, which is estimated to have a release in May.
I suspect the incoming “New Game+” mode is a way to let people experience ARR as it is one last time before it’s reworked, and to give max level players a way to experience the new iteration of it without needing to make a whole new character.
We’re talking effective melee range for operatives and vanguards. Effective range being 0-12m ingame if I remember correctly.
If I recall correctly you can only use it in the same sense as in WoW you could technically play a prot warrior with just a Sword and no shield. Some skills will be locked out and damage / healing output will just not be the same. (let me know if I’m wrong, I’ll literally go play a commando with a rifle if it’s viable.)
And Jedi Sentinel and Sith Marauder only felt like fighting with a single saber in cutscenes but outside of them needed 2.
Healing for the Trooper is solely based on tech power and the only ability I recall was locked, was the Hail of Bolts AoE
Regardless, when I played SWTOR as a Trooper Vanguard I kept a pretty decent ranged build, using the melee attacks as bursts damages before widing the gap between myself and the foe with Mortar strike.
I am peeved about this. Not about Elenthas’ photomanip, that’s perfectly fine, but the sudden BfA association of Jaina with “Daughter of the sea”.
She never did jacksh*t in her life with the sea beside being born in Kul tiras! She’s not even a sailor! She have nothing more to do with the sea than any other Kul tiran, and it is a meaningless empty title that should have been given to someone who actually is a Sea mage/witch/other-magical-thing. It could have been a character at the head of the Tidesages, the children of the sea, or maybe some Drustvar witch that mix their bone magic with the sea, or, or…
Litterally the only time we’ve seen Jaina remotely show any interest in Kul Tiras/Kul Tiran culture is BfA. Due to her close ties to the Menethil family+Uther+old Kirin Tor, she is more Lordaeronian than Kul Tiran honestly.
Something’s up with my bnet launcher, spitting out errors when I try to launch things and it’s unable to identify HotS being installed. I did all the things they say I should but now I can’t bnet because the launcher is stupid.
Yeah but, it was the sea because it was a big body of water near Orgrimmar. If Orgrimmar had been a bit inland, it would have been an earthshake. What I’m trying to go to is that it wasn’t the sea because she’s sea themed, it was just convenient. (And even if it had been the Sea because, well, enslaving the spirits of it doesn’t make her really good for “Daughter of the sea” does it?)
Sylvanas don’t have a Teldrassil themed title to be fair. And you could argue that successfully destroying a city is more worthy of a title than briefly-wanting-to-before-being-stopped-by-friends. (I wouldn’t say anything about it if Jaina had actually destroyed Orgrimmar)
