Dish the dirt. What have I missed?!
I’ve bumped into an Alliance non-guard guild that relies on them too much in campaigns. It’s irritating mutters into buzz box
I wouldn’t like to name and shame, but I had a very interesting interaction with some of the Horde rebel RP community with the gnomish devices in use so they could all get together instantly if some evil loyal business happened nearby. It felt a bit gimmicky and … weird, to be honest? I haven’t experienced that kind of roleplay in years, solely because it feels second to metagaming.
bzzt we need help
/y RALLY THE WHOLE GUILD LADS TWO OF OURS ARE BEING INSULTED
This was Horde?! Colour me surprised, and disappointed.
Bad train drivers… pilots? Controllers?
There’s always one genius who can’t break properly, so the train slooooowly decelerates, then this clever guy slams the break to full; so you end up slammed into a wall, having to take a step or just sprain your arm and ankle like crazy. EVERY. STOP.
And don’t tell me that’s just how trains are… I take the same train every day, and this only happens on some days. So I know it’s just one terrible driver making my morning even worse…
It isn’t second to metagaming. It straight up is metagaming.
Doing an instant buzzbox call for reinforcements is literally the same as just going /g ok quick everyone come to [insert location] so we win!
AA art peeve: sometimes night elves are drawn too similarly to void elves, or the other way round, leaving me confused when I read the caption and find out the character is actually of a different race than I assumed.
Yeah I just wish they’d really stick to night elves horizontal ears, void elves vertical ears
All elves look the same to you? Wow.
Not the way Blizzard draws them. It’s fan artists that often blur the difference.
My guess is the fan artists that do this, atleast for void elves, either just takes a quick glance at the character creation model(Which to be fair looks 90% like a Nelf) or just think that they should look alike for some personal reason. Not sure for the other way around though.
I’m all aboard the hype train for the Final Fantasy 7 remake, interesting to see that it’s fleshing out the story so much. Part of me worries that it might go too far and expand on things too much, and that we might also end up with a Half Life 2 Episde 3 scenario where we never see it concluded.
I am interested however to see how they reinterpret some interesting scenes that happen in that first section of the game.
The obvious one is the Don Corneo’s mansion crossdressing scene which Square said they needed to adjust for modern audiences. I hope that this adjustment means that it goes even further, and not only does Cloud need to dress up in order to trick the Don, but has to go all the way with him to get the information that AVALANCHE so desperately needs.
Also the questionable scene in Shinra tower where Hojo, evil scientist, attempts to forcibly breed two species that are on the verge of extinction. Aerith the Cetra and Red XIII, a talking lion.
It will be interesting to see how this is justified in the additional scenes given how utterly absurd the idea is. Is it just that he’s an evil scientist with no real sense, or he is doing god’s work and trying to breed them in order to create cat girls? In which case he is a misunderstood anti-hero and not the villain he is portrayed as.
The possibilities are endless.
Having played Dirge of Cerberus…
yes it’s this one
it is absolutely this one
Remember when Hojo downloaded himself into the internet and then uploaded himself into shirtless albino dual wielding goku
As much as I was a die hard Vincent Valentine fan in my youth, I never actually got around to playing Dirge of Cerberus.
Perhaps it was for the best?
The gameplay is ‘okay’ and the story swings between “edge nerd” and “O O O F”
Vincent’s love interest in that game is an eternally loli girl who dual wields orange lightsabers and has the uploaded consciousness/clone soul of Lucrecia (Sephiroth’s mum who Vincent really likes but was actually in love with Vincent’s dad, GRIMOIRE VALENTINE https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/5/57/Grimoire-Valentine-DoC-FFVII.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20171008231149
)
… I never had the thought that he wanted them to breed?? I just never understood what he thought he’d get out of getting one of them to maul the other lol, maybe just some odd mad-scientist need for survival of the fittest (for the sake of shoehorned danger into the plot.)
What? Is that really what it was about?
No I’m afraid it was about that. They were the last of two important species, especially so with Aerith because he determined that they wouldn’t be able to use her to find the promised land within her lifetime so needed a long term solution.
So he puts them both in the pod together and hopes for the best.
Geez! Well that just made the scene all the more silly.
JRPG’s are riddled with this kind of stuff, especially the older ones. It’s why seeing a lot of the sillier aspects of Final Fantasy 7 get translated over to the Remake is going to be so interesting to see.
Like the whole Honeybee Manor section. If you walk into one of the rooms you get molested by a group of bodybuilders. Then in another room President Shinra is acting out some kind of weird roleplaying fetish.
I need all of this in the remake, I don’t want any of it cut out.
Definitely. The game is generally silly, and there are a lot of plot points that obviously exist for the sake of convenience and with no real explanation.
I guess this is part of why they have to rewrite and expand on so much, because a lot of it just wouldn’t fly in a modern game, because it makes no sense or is just silly.
But like you, I just hope they don’t go too far… or they will never be done, lol.
Edit: Like the President Shinra hologram actually. When replaying it lately, I was thinking how him showing up at that point was such a bad idea on his part - it was fun to see in the trailer that they knew it themselves.
Yeah had the exact same thought. It’s a good addition given that Barret could have just riddled that fool.
But I couldn’t work out what he (Shinra) was saying in the trailer, something about Wutai? There’s a lot of areas of the story that could be significantly fleshed out through this Remake, like the war with Wutai for example and it’s effects on the populace of Midgar.
