Pet peeves: The return (Part 1)

Too bad WoW’s religious concepts are either hidden away in deep lore of some throwaway Nagrand quest or entirely nonexistent.

That alone is reason enough not to buy the PS5.

I shall wait until GoW Ragnarok is out.

I’m getting my backside handed to me in the Witcher 3 because hey death march in white orchard atm.

Gonna try and 100% the zone before moving on, I will say combat has an added weight to it with having to pick and choose my battles, especially group fights.

I love it.

By spinning like a beyblade, usually.

Yeah wow’s religions are all pretty naff. Tbh most fantasy setting religions are pretty rubbish but at least with pencil and paper games your group can put their own spin on things.

Off the top of my head RPG settings that do interesting religions natively are… Glorantha and the bits of TES that were stolen from Glorantha.

There being almost nothing to run with when it comes to being a follower of Rezan has given me the chance to use the dreaded HEADCANON to make being a prelate quite different from being a normal paladin.

Another Hearthstone peeve is how the Scholomance Academy expansion has almost nothing to do with canonical Scholomance lore except for namedropping a few of its characters in a wildly different context. Instead it’s one third American school tropes, one third Hogwarts references and one third lol wacky Hearthstone hijinks.

If they wanted to do a magic school themed expansion, why not use Dalaran? Oh right, they already did a Dalaran expansion, except it wasn’t even marketed as one. One Night in Karazhan got bad flak for being a wacky parody of a dark and creepy location from Warcraft lore, but at least that one actually was a faithful adaptation of Karazhan’s iconic encounters.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t apply the laws of physics.” - Illidan probably.

I wonder if the alternative warglaive designs are a little more useful, if one were to discuss it in a purely realistic context. The Aldrachi edition I mean; backwards facing blades and all that.

They’re just tonfa but they do slashing damage instead of bludgeoning.

That works right?

(granted, my only experience with tonfa are from Sun Ce in Dynasty Warriors)

Keep trying to post on other forums (keep forgetting that I’m not subbed)

Personally for my Zandalari Paladin I just claim that the supremacy and glory of Rezan and his ever bountiful graceful light is how they use the Light, and that his noble sacrifice against Zul has only magnified his splendour.

Hearthstone as i’ve mentioned before is literally only for pulling in extra cash for Blizzard right now, from its dumb Standard/Wild system that forces you to pay more money for cards you can use in Standard with 0 support for Wild. That they are just doing wacky zany AU versions of content from WoW and making a complete pigsty of it isn’t surprising at all.

The power of nostalgia compels me to go look at old WoW machinima from the Classic through to Wrath era.

Rose tinted goggles are on but I genuinely miss that era of WoW. You couldn’t swing a cat without hitting a bunch of RP’ers. And the lack of collective knowledge the playerbase had then made the game feel more exciting than it does now.

Ah well. I’ll enjoy the fond memories I have for a while longer. Just a little while longer…

This voice clip has lived rent-free in my mind for twenty years.

Picks up tablet pen, scribbles and trashes the file
Yeah I wish my art muse could return.

One thing I love about Total War Warhammer is how incredibly hammy everyone is. Zero chill. Even the ‘soft’ characters are hardcore warriors who’d order hundreds of enemies cut down without hesitation.

Imagine if someone like Settra showed up in WoW. He’d conquer Azeroth in a month. None would have the spine to stand up to him.

(At least not with Rastakhan dead… :((( )

TRP race: “elven”.

Now listen here, there’s night elves, void elves, blood elves, nightborne, high elves and highborne. How do I know which one of these are meant? That’s right, I don’t. So please, “elven” does not tell me anything about what heritage your character has.

All of them!

The character’s ancestors have been around the block that they have a bit of everything.

Hard same here, tbqh.

Not even joking; a pretty important view on orc spirituality is tucked in a skippable nagrand WoD questline. Shattrath divided between scryers and aldor give a good view of the latter draenei priesthood via the netherstorm quests and we had to go all the way to a metzen tweet to confirm that the church of the holy light has such a concept as heresy in the first place.

What isn’t relevant to the ongoing self contained expansion story is often left out and that’s a major problem in regards to faith in The Afterlife Expansion!

The first faction willing to be Settra’s vassal would have his legions. The same goes for individual races/kingdoms in a faction. Which banner is more realpolitik?
