Pet peeves: The return (Part 1)

Challenge, make a Rimworld colony that survives on growing crops and peacefully trade with all other tribes, and when attacked by raiders, heals them up before offering them to either return back to their group or stay.

No organ harvesting.

From having done more or less this - it’s doable and fairly easy.

Being nice to your neighbours makes some of them nice to you.

I don’t organ harvest tbh. I don’t even capture raiders; I just let them die in the dirt outside before dumping them in the mass grave. Currently I’m trying to flee a massive mechanoid incursion near my spot on the planet.

My favourite Rimworld colony was basically a hippy commune where everyone was perpetually high that subsisted on growing and selling drugs.

I do like producing Yayo.

Shortest game I ever had happened when I got attacked by a manhunting pack of squirrels out the gates.

Randy do be like that.

do i have to try rimworld now or what

haha yeah

It’s probably the most polished and accessible of the Dwarf Fortress knock offs and is probably the one with the most longevity to it, a lot of that genre get pretty stale pretty easily.

I ultimately went back to Dwarf Fortress but that’s a game which is very not for everyone.

It also has a really good modding scene. There’s everything from padding out the main game, total conversions to other settings (Warhammer, Lovecraft, Space station survival stuff) and you could even make all your pawns into anime cat girls.

N-not that I’ve done it. B-baka.

All the Vanilla Plus mods feel essential to my playing experience now + a myriad of other bits and bobs.

gotta tell my boss i’m sick and go home again. he might start to catch on if i keep doing this

Bar the sanitation mod which changed the game quite a lot by introducing plumbing most of the mods didn’t really do much for me.

Love the hygiene mod, adds another nice facet to the game

I always found the psychology mod to be quite good, made the pawns interacting with each other a bit more dynamic. All the Vanilla expanded stuff is worth a check out too IMHO.

It was another thing to consider given my natural desire to play this sort of game as a Dwarf.

there’s a mod for that…

Being literally a dwarf is unnecessary in Rimworld when one can spiritually be a dwarf.
