I think the concept of Stormcast is pretty cool as it is these days, but I don’t like the basic guys. The more mage-y lot with the tabards and robes over their armor look cool though, really dig 'em but I’m too busy collecting other armies (Har Kuron, Slaves to Darkness, Legions of Nagash etc)
oh god im going to order so many new skeletons tomorrow, help
My favourite thing about Stormcast is the upcoming 3rd edition stuff. Good lord. I am embarrassed I ever considered Sisters of Battle after seeing that ultrachad model.
Malakith vs Ordertide seems like it’s going to be the end game. Ulthuan is currently ground zero for the mother of all Elgi punchups.
I’ll get there in time. Right now Karak Ziflin is the latest Confederation, after a hefty bribe (still pennies to my tresury, these days), but Clan Mors and Eshin just did the same.
I already have four painted skeleton musicians for my units of them, I absolutely have…
but man the new skeletons look so good!! Probably picking up two boxes of those, the new standard issue vampire to convert (with one of those cool veiled Escher heads from Necromunda…), and maybe that new vampire bat lady…
They really did decide to make a mini that just flexes over half of the 40k range with a single arm huh
They’re good, but they surprised me. Weren’t the old skeletons perfectly fine? They had aged well to my eyes. New zombies, absolutely! But skeletons? The old ones were poseable, too.
They are! I’ve got a spare box of them for conversion purposes not too long ago because I’ve some ideas for them, still
The new more armored look is great though - they’ll look distinct from my older skeleton units (and better, in part because I’m simply a better painter now) while still fitting in! Played Legion of Blood with the previous book, and now with the upcoming book that looks to be very focused on lots of Skeleton pals so I’m excited to get some new units going. Had a load of fun painting the Cursed City ones.
One thing TW Warhammer could really use is a ‘what could make this deal work?’ button similar to Civ games. One of my peeves in the early game is finding yellow diplomacy options and having to wait until they come to me, because usually any amount of money I offer does nothing
and then they offer you money for the deal you wanted. bruh
I felt the same but then it turned out my local store had a few copies… Went and got it, then got it all assembled and painted in ~ three weeks time! Really got me in the mood for getting whole batches of minis done in rapid time again Less fun for everyone that missed out though obviously, and the lack of communication really just sucks
Been playing DRG on FF14 for the last… well, since mid-Stormblood. Went back to a caster for the first time since (RDM), and wew… there’s a lot of bouncing going on up front.
I’m also wearing blue, so I guess I’m just generally terrible at my job.
It’s probably just the curse of having been into 40k before I checked out AoS, but my main gripe is that Stormcast feel ludicrously safe. Given that Marines are the entry point for most 40k stuff and Stormcast don’t really push the envelope on weird aesthetics like some factions can, I always feel they look kinda boring. I get that they have their own unique things going on (resurrection brings them back with fragments missing ala Beric Dondarrion), but still.
The Angel mini is nice and all, but it just feels… I don’t know, kind of boring. “ah yes the realm of HEAVENS has an ANGEL” doesn’t really push aesthetics in new places the way other factions have managed to. The second wave of Lumineth models were weird and cool even if the first wave looked way too goofy for my tastes. no i will not shut up about the cow helmets jesus cHRI
Anyway, I’m probably gonna go Sylvaneth or Nighthaunt when I do make my foray in collecting
Lure them into the mountain passes and they lose. They can’t keep up with underway dwarfing nullifying the awkward routes, getting isolated and surrounded. The last chaos stack in my dwarf game fell at karak ungor.
Always rush it. It will help all the way and is key to destroying late game spam.
Court the underdog AIs with small money gifts until relations improve enough that they become open to trade and more. Destroy all “distrusts x” and other factions as they will never be loyal in the long run.
I don’t blame them for going safe with the posterboy faction. That said, I am a fan of the big armoured aesthetic in general (heavy intercessors was what brought me back to 40k after 6 years, go figure) so Stormcast have that appeal to me while also having few of the issues Marines do.
I kinda want everything tbh. I love Archaon but I also love Durthu, and Skaven, and Idoneth sea beasts, and ogres, and -
The most annoying part is that that HAS been in TW games; Shogun 2 changed the animation of the other diplomatic party depending on what the offer was; they’d fold their arms and look angry if things were a massive no, lean forward if things weren’t quite acceptable but you were either getting there or moving away, and then sit back when the offer was a-ok.
I still haven’t managed to Confed Karak Kadrin because of reasons, despite them being one of my longest standing Alliances and having a good rep in the Over 200s.
Ah well. Short Campaign has been ‘won’… but there are still Thaggoraki as yet un-crushed. Besides, Malekith is the one behind the War of the Beard, so THAT Elgi goit is due a good grudging, right? Khazukan Kazakit-ha!
