Gonna be real honest here, as someone who has RPed in ESO since launch that absolutely nothing of what you just described sounds like anything I’ve ever witnessed over the years. Who hurt you?
The Morrowind and Summerset communities, as well as various guilds outside of those related to the main hub.
If you’ve your regular clique to play with it’s fine. If you don’t, you’re out of luck unless you really like random tavern rp with a bunch of thirsty people.
Did that once, was cool right up until the point the guy running it dragged in a dude with the classic old 6000 highly trained perfect equipment supersoldier NPCs against whoever he didn’t like lol
Fair enough, I never really participated in those because of uh
rumours
(also because i’m not interested)
Regarding Breton nobility, there’s always that Flannagan episode from yester year which was a bit of a , but ultimately it ended with the toxic player removed from the community and other (good) noble RPers pulling some nice maneuvers IC to absorb their holdings.
Merchant Knight however is the pinnacle of noble RP, and though you can fight me about it, you will simply fail
You’re just generally out of luck if you’re not interested in High Rock based stuff or ‘low fantasy’ adventuring with a group where the most precious excellent DM disbands the guild if u dont follow the heavily railroaded plot they planned for tbh
No idea what it’s like at this point to be fair, gave up around half a year ago now
From all I’ve heard, the notion of playing a Dark Elf incites a sense of peril in me. I love them, their lore, and the zones… but there’s a lot of dire stuff from dire players.
Got accused of being a n*zi for playing one in the big ooc hub once lmao
Just let me RP discount baladas demnevanni
One of my favourite RPers of all time was a dunmer scoundrel who I recruited into our Thieves Guild back in the day, and eventually he became one of our officers when we formed a triumvirate.
Excellent guy who brought a lot of dunmer customs and mannerisms of his House into his RP, while also being conscious of the fact that his guy’s an outcast and a criminal (every Hlaalu is, but he’s the one who got caught). He really managed to portray the concept of that lovable scoundrel in a way that felt natural and not forced like it very often does when someone tries way too hard to act charming.
He was a terrible fighter and at-best an average thief, but he could genuinely talk a stingy noble out of their valuables which frankly made him an excellent thief. I refused to recruit the edgy criminal RPers who would loom ominously in the rafters of the Refuge with a mask and a hood on and an edgy nickname like Shadow or whatever. The less obvious you were, the better. We valued hiding in plain sight, with our Guild’s front being a merchant company specialised in the import of foreign goods and the Guild hideout being built into the basement of the company clubhouse.
I have to.
More peeve:
These cleated boots crush my tiny hoof feet. The balance and steadiness is there and I’ll never slip. All at the low, low price of unremitting agony.
FF14’s aesthetics are the biggest deal breaker for me. Even if it was the most brilliantly designed and well-written game in the history of games ever, and had the most vibrant RP community on the planet, I would look at it and say: anime bunnygirls and lolis? Thank you, but no.
And reading the posts about RP communities in other MMOs… Truly, WoW is the least RP-friendly MMO in existence, with the exception of all the others.
I think I’m actually scarred by the systemically abusive SWToR Empire political scene, asymmetrical power dynamic and master/servant relations that only seemed to cater to and cultivate the worst possible egos and perverts.
From all the stories friends have told me, it seems absolutely evil and hellish. Like the worst of the worst ERPfools of WoW just coalesced into all that.
WoW is great in that it at least has an easy way to find RPers (just go to SW/Orgrimmar!), and that there’s a lot of different interests that the community caters towards - there’s a lot of things the devs could do to make things better for RPers but IMO it’s pretty good as is
It’s not just a thing in SWToR, alas :withered:
I picture the “yes, honey” wojak with poiny ears.
Well, of course we couldn’t have that potato blight of a RP situation quarantined but I’ve seen nothing like it in WoW. Final Catgirl Simulator 14’s RP rotted in my sight when I saw it was all “breeders”, all the time.
You have come to a land named Gor… * whipcrack *
I’m not sure of what this is.
Gor is a series of deeply creepy cheap fantasy novels from the 70s about a world where women are all slaves and clothes are not allowed.
okay but how many of the men are alphas
Dunno but judging by the covers all of them
Annoying because the lore of the Seekers of the Sun (one of the cat clans) has it that there is an overarching patriarch of the clan, who is the Nunh (with all other cat boys being “Tia”) and people take it to mean… yeah.
EDIT: in the end, I am glad my main is a Keeper of the Moon catboy.
