I agree with the open world point, the vast majority tend to have the depth of a puddle. Skyrim is/was a massive offender for it, yeah it’s nice I have this massive world to explore but it has very little atmosphere.
Naturally it all hinges on their implementation of the feature. And I’m only skeptical because I myself can’t think of a good reason as to why this game (or most other games for that matter) will benefit from being open world. All I can think of is reasons why it can be a bad thing (long pointless travel time, fields full of useless consumables/upgrades, etc).
But I’m gonna remain hopeful and wait till more info is out before I judge. No pre-orders though. Not even for FROM.
Of course there is more to the game than the sum of its mechanics and this one looks quite pretty too. Though I was a bit disappointed with how… Bright it was? You know, in previous games bright moments and beautiful vista’s popped so much because they were juxtaposed with an otherwise dark and gloomy or drab environment, so when you reached a Dragon Aerie or Anor Londo (DS1) or Irithyl, the sight was all the more awe-inspiring.
But I hope there’s more to it. Maybe day/night cycle or even a complete skybox shift, much like in BB.
In my defense, I’ve only watched the trailer quickly on my phone.
Will need to look up everything else when the opportunity presents itself.
I lasted much longer, but I can’t say I was having a good time. At the end I was just spamming dungeons as a prot paladin, because it was the only fun thing and even that only lasted for so long.
I only pre-order wow expacs because I believe that the leveling and first 1 or 2 months are worth it, even if the rest of the expac stinks. At this point though, I’m questioning even that.
Peeve: Finally painted the Guardian of Souls and while I’m happy with it, I’m wishing I picked a better colour scheme and used my contrasts more effectively. It looks like a whole lotta brown, which is a shame because it’s a cool model.
That said I’m finally playing a bit of DnD this Sunday in my friend’s custom setting
Onto a different peeve; cat tried to cuddle me in bed this morning. I was hot, he was hot, I don’t think either of us enjoyed it, why does the weather have to make us both suffer?
At least I hope the game isn’t dying. A good expansion can turn things back on track and there’s a lot of nice things and characters I don’t really want to let go of.
Playing some DoS 2, and after winning an arena flight with every party member blindfolded and one of them unable to move because the blindfold breaks an armour set and then a second fight, my party ends up dead because what I think is a valve to shut off some petrifying steam does nothing and everyone dies.
the game has not autosaved since the start of the blindfold battle. make your checkpoints more frequent you coward of a game
‘hey starshade maybe you should manually save’ maybe you should eat my entire leg
