I like them for being a mixture of a better world being possible, but nonetheless having more sinister elements. The sort of stratified, Orwellian vibe they have is significantly less cartoonish than the Imperium and makes for a welcome refresher in terms of tone.
Setting stabilisers. Ready to fire.
Laughs in glasses since 3rd grade/9yrs old I know the pain of masks and glasses, especially winter.
Sounds like reading glasses or similarly stuff, I have to wear mine all the time or I am legally blind
Iâm sticking to my dusty egyptian space wizards and birdmen
Tau arenât even communist with their caste system, just collectivist in service of the will of the aunâva. A completely authoritarian system.
They stand out because they show a degree of tolerance in a setting where everyone else wants to genocide everyone else. I remember there being such talk of how they effectively sterilized the rebellious humans on Kronus. Meanwhile, the Imperium does⌠what the imperium does with anyone that objects or isnât the approved kind of human.
Meanwhile, the farsight enclaves caught on to the nonsense and are actually decent with earth caste pilots for their war machines.
Theyâre not all that bad tbh, changed to them like 4 years ago and never looked back.
Afaik if you didnât know, the Tâau have lately been made a bit more sinister/dark. It turns that the enclaves have tried to have Commander Farsight (possibly Shadowsun too) killed because they have found that you actually do not need the ethereals in order to have a functional society- And the mask has more or less come off. Then again, this has been teased for a very long time already- The Ethereals didnât just pop out of nowhere conveniently and make everyone friendly. The greater good is actually just a mind-control thing, as even xeno species, in their presence, feel prone to suggestions.
Then there is this story where the Tâau go into the warp with their human auxillaeries, and since the Tâau donât even really know that the Warp exists/demons are actual demons rather than just a hyperaggressive xeno species like orcs, they donât have galler fields that protect the ships from the warp entities. This isnât a problem for the Tâau since they have so pitiful souls they donât show up to demons, but the humans? yep, they got all possessed by demons/eaten by em.
But here comes the worst part. Because the tau already have so many human auxillaries that believe in the greater good â˘, this has actually manifested into a really grotesgue and evil warp entity that actually kills the demons, and the Tau are mega horrified to see this happen and outright become super racist toward humans because they have managed to pervert their idea of a pure society into a hellish warp demon.
The Farsight enclaves are a military junta built by people pursuing war too radically for their old society. They are still Tau, but they get way more cred than they ought to.
Weâve talked about Warhammer too long.
This is now a Bugsnax thread.
Kinda bug, kinda snack
True enough, still authoritarian jerks.
Tau kinda seem like the space Qunari from what I can gather
Sounds like a parody of the Soviet Union tbh
I like it
Iâm Myopic, my far sight is utter garbage, I can see and probably dodge incoming danger but when on the road, you kinda donât wanna miss reading a panel or a warning or any small detail that could mean life and death⌠Also driving at night without them is dangerous AF. My general uses of them is when driving or on the PC⌠Or outside in an unfamiliar locale.
I had to make an conscious effort not to breath in and out like Iâm Vader or a deep sea explorer .
More or less. No warhammer race has reached the perfect utopia that is fully automated luxury gay space communism
yet
By 40K standards - being that most empires are cartoonishly evil in a cartoonishly evil universe - the Tau seems to be pretty sensible and nice. Everythingâs relative n all so they seem a smidge too totalitarian for the real world.
And thatâs why Dark Eldar at the best. Iâm told theyâre cartoonishly evil but also have loads of bdsm fetish parties.
Dark Eldar, like Dark Elves in fantasy, are actually the most genuinely evil force in the world/galaxy. They donât serve a dark power that demands sacrifices, or have some kind of claim to dominion that they are warring to reclaim.
Theyâre just evil on purpose.
I donât really know Dragon Age but this seems fairly apt.
Thereâs the âmainâ Tau species which is divided up into castes which govern military, administrative, engineering, pilot, and leadership roles, with a lot of subsidiary followers of their âGreater Goodâ philosophy, a sort of collectivist utilitarianism.
They have a lot more personal connection to themselves and to their families or communities than the Qunari do, but itâs not a bad comparison
Yeah whatever, back in the gimp cage now princess
so says the shadow of loras
come out the shed and say that to my face
