Discord seems to be down and I use them for all my image hosting purposes. Ridiculous, haven’t they considered how this personally affects me?

I’m not sure if this is a full on peeve but it does make me feel conflicted. FF14:

Ninja gets a damage buff - Huton - at 45 that makes you hit things and press buttons faster. Lasts 60 seconds and you need to do a 3 button mudra to activate it, which means not using that mudra on DPS. That’s fine, you just add it to your rotation to weave it in, and not letting Huton drop (or letting it drop with specific timing) is a part of the rotation skill stuff.

At 52 you get a new button in your (now two-button) AoE rotation that extend’s Huton’s duration by 10s. Okay, sure.
At 54 you get a new optional button in your single target rotation that does slightly less damage as a finisher, but extend’s Huton’s duration by 30s. That’s…fine too. Just start it before a fight and then maintain it.

And then at 60 you get a whole separate button that just goes “gives you Huton for 60s” and I’m like
doesn’t that take away the complexity a bit
and I guess not really, because either you prebuff it and maintain it or you hit with the skill first and then maintain it, but it still feels weird.

And there’s a certain aspect of this with Warrior too. Warrior gets a CD that makes your next 3 buttons crit, so ideally you arrange it so you’ve got [resource] available to mash the crits with your big stompy attacks. Again, it’s part of the rotation skill learning stuff for optimisation.

And then the CD gets buffed so your next 3 big stompy attacks don’t take any resource, making it a mindless button, instead of one to plan around like it was before. The rotation got harder as you levelled up…and then got simpler again.

Again, I’ve got conflicting feelings on it but it’s…odd.
