That and them looking as goofy as they do doesn’t help at all when compared to skaven. And even as far back as wc3 they were nothing more than an occasional pest.

I mean they do also kinda have cultural stagnation but their tech is on point.

just once id love to see elves that havent reached complete cultural stagnation. aside from blood elves anyway, no brakes on that train.
dragon age elves, warhammer elves, elder scrolls elves, middle earth elves. cant recall with witcher elves. give me elves on their way to send humanity back to the stone age

A related peeve is Warhammer calling a race “Eldar” so I keep having to infer from context whether people are talking about them or Tolkien elves.

i usually always just associate it more with warhammer in a conversation than with tolkien as its rare ive seen people call them anything other than elves.
if they try to make us more sympathetic to tevinter than to the elves i will not be happy

Just write better ratmen where the kobold pests we know are a labourer caste working closer to the surface world while the off-brand skaven live much deeper down.

Eldar/aeldari were basically given their incredible tech by the Old Ones and haven’t done much to advance it.
The pervy sadist dark space elves did invent new things but since they’re pervy sadists it’s mostly pervy sadist stuff.

I was referencing something else, but it’s such a major spoiler that I can’t even say what it’s a spoiler for.
Valenar Elves in Eberron are basically the Dotharl from FF14 (or vice versa, I guess, since Valenar came first).
A) Heavy mongol influences, live in separate war bands on the steppes with their own cultural differences.
B) They believe that each of them has the soul of an ancestor inside them reborn, and their culture is around allowing their ancestors to live again through their deeds and emulating their ancestor.
C) They really love fighting and constantly seek out new horizons/battles to honour their ancestors and forge new legends. Emulating their ancestors (who were fighting a war) means they have to constantly fight in war.
the dlc ends with dorian leaving behind a trail of bodies and i dont mean corpses 
my take-away from this is that theres a sadu elf out there and thats just neat
