Somewhat unrealistic to think they don’t: imagine a place where you have, let’s say, 60% chance that someone will shoot at you should you lower your guard when you’re doing your duty as a guard: you’re going to be much more willing to use weapons yourself.
To remain on topic, I also believe that a lot of cynical takes displayed here are naïve too - it’s always the easiest route to denounce those you don’t like as irremediably corrupt and being unwilling to look at the actual causes.

Yes, but it’s out of context, and you linked an article of journalism against a research done by an Harvard economist. 
'cause they are, the US police being actively trained wrong to treat their job as an armed occupation of a district and respond with maximum force to repress the masses, the police being constantly terrified for their own lives and schooled to adopt a killer mentality to be ready to take lives to save their own at any cost. Their objective is not to police but to control the population and survive another day without a scratch. They’re living in constant learned anxiety and armed with military surplus while taught to plant evidence and protect their own.
It’s an organization that needs to be uprooted entirely before it poisons other countries’ institutions further.

What fresh hell is that?!
Being a cop is not even in the top 10 of most dangerous jobs in the U.S. and cops are far more likely to die from COVID (to an astounding degree) or their own terrible driving than being shot.

It would seem but those are actually covered in thick batter with bigger sliced onion rings before being chopped.
I’m allergic to pineapple but somehow the Mcdonalds “bread rolls” still offend me more. I hate them so much.
