Sadly I only had HOMM5’s base game, so I missed out on the alternate upgrades and the two other factions.
Regarding music, there’s just something about HOMM2 that’s very charming, though overall I still prefer HOMM5’s. Sylvan, Academy, Haven absolutely slaps (is very good, Lintian). But HOMM2’s Necromancer town theme is one my all time favourites from the franchise, especially where the piano part almost feels like a rush of desperation.
Oh, waitwaitWAIT, is that a version from the Expac? I ran into that a while back when I picked it up off GoG, and did a double take on entering a town for the first time. Why they thought they needed to change up Perfection, GOD only knows…
Idk, I think the picture might be an artist’s rendering, or something. Was mostly posting for the music, since that’s the only one I remembered that was correct!
(Context: At some point in the few years past I had this track creeping up in my memories and I couldn’t really figure out where or what game it was from, until I finally found it, being this.)
Some people in the youtube comments were saying this is the Warlock theme, but idk - I’m pretty sure I had some weird copy my brother pirated it from and this is from what I remembered it from.
You can imagine my confusing when searching for the theme I did not immediately get on it as well.
There are alternative versions; the music, for some reason, changes with the Expac (Price of Loyalty, I think?) as I found when playing the Gold Edition as Knights for the first time.
peeve: Dragon age fandom learn how to tag properly. Stop clogging other ship tags with your inquisitor/random char fic just because you mention the ship in the background. (the correct place for those is in the additional tags)
Peeve: For a historical AI , the Hearts of Iron 4 isn’t very accurate… the cheeky bugger comes attack me ( playing the Netherlands) in October 1939, while in reality we were only attacked in May 1940 ( and we lost in five days). So damnit, AI, learn ur history and give me more time
That said, I managed to last longer than I thought I would, into December, so thats already two months of heavy fighting, with barely 1k losses for me and over 200k losses for Angry Mustacheman. Yet over time the AI just seems to keep pooping out extra divisions…
Given that Dawn of War Dark Crusade was also crashing when I tried to finish off my space marine campaign I may just be cursed in the sight of the emperor
Dang it, I’m kind of ambivalent toward most of the chaos gods don’t make me pick one
The stars aligned, and Steamforged Games decided to bring some of their kickstarter exclusive miniatures back for a limited time.
Including the two KS expacs for the board game of Horizon Zero Dawn, which includes all the named character models, the lack of which previously put me off getting any of the models entirely.
I am a happy hobbyist :3
Our gobleaders of three 6th level characters (berserker barbarian - Not A Pet, moon druid, wildfire druid) got put up against a team of 3 10th level gishes (bladesong wizard, pact of the blade celestial warlock, swords bard). Not an easy fight, they had a lot of healing and defensive ability going around - not helped by the bard having apparently impeccable concentration saves, literally a dozen back to back where they rolled 10+.
And then after bringing two of them very low on health, they dimension door out, which we can’t stop, because the only way to stop it is Silence or Counterspell, and wouldn’t you know it those aren’t things we have.
They’ve left the bladesinger behind, but he’s still got a 5th level spell slot leftover and also knows dimension door so chances are he’s also going to DD out next turn, but I can’t hit him because he’s got Fire Shield active and kill myself doing so.
Meaning all the fighting will ultimately be for no reward and a few dead goblins that need retraining =_= Why isn’t there an explicit grapple option for shove your fist in a spellcaster’s stupid mouth to stop verbal components?
