Pet peeves: The return (Part 5)

Guess he doesn’t bring up setting the cops on Jessie Gender either?

I guess it’s worse if one isn’t particularly interested in the dragons/dracthyr, titan lore and culmination of the teldrassil storyline.

I’m so tired I’m thinking in slow motion.

I mean, I wouldn’t call Dragonflight flavourless. It has a pretty sugary sweet flavour that some people really don’t like.

I do think it’s pretty funny to read this right after Meronspell saying

this. Like, Season of Discovery is fun because it’s Classic with minor adjustments, not because it’s some new narrative masterpiece. It’s literally Classic served to you a third time.

Dragonflight for sure is not part a 3-for-3 consecutive disaster xpac line. Metzen also has been part of several expansions that did not feel like Warcraft, Warlords of Draenor as an example. Just because it’s Orcs On Repeat does not make it Warcraft, as the entire story is progenitor of most modern WoW lore problems.

I’d also say that what feels and doesn’t feel like Warcraft is entirely subjective and kind of a gross dismissal of the entire expansion just because it doesn’t have something in it. TBC was not considered Warcraft when it launched and now is regarded well as the good old days. Mists of Pandaria was not considered Warcraft at all and was harshly disliked and made fun of on its release and is now considered one of the best Warcraft expansions ever, especially narratively.

Battle for Azeroth was marketed as the Warcraft expansion, literally holding the carrot of ‘look!!! it’s humans vs orcs again!!! it’s warcraft!!!’ that a large number of the playerbase immediately hailed as the best expansion. Look, we’re torching Teldrassil, so poggers haha lok’tar ogar!!!

And yet BfA was one of the worst ever, chalking it up as ‘oh, Metzen wasn’t here that’s why it was bad!!’ is just weird. Metzen tells stories with great vibes, not stories with great story telling. He wouldn’t have saved BfA somehow and he won’t save any new expansion, nor has he saved any old expansion.

Low-key the entire angle of ‘the modern story devs know nothing and only write their self-inserts in the game as some power trip fantasy!’ really smells wrong anyway, when funnily enough the expansions after Metzen left started toeing the grounds of representation more, and unfortunately the circles of who are really against that overlap heavily with the circles of who just cry about modern WoW storytelling really being bad.

Yeah I had her in the base version of that _ blood of lathander and it slapped, Shadowheart’s a machine in combat

The bread and butter of any apology video.

I read someone say that he doesn’t actually that word in there, at all, and instead uses allusions to it, which feels pretty manipulative.

chris metzen would never do this, he would also never write any self inserts going through the stages of dadhood he is currently going through!

For all the self-insert jokes we make about Danuser we forget more and more how much the Green Jesus was hated.

Time heals all wounds, and soon Shadowlands will be looked down upon as a mere ‘oh haha Danuser just got a little silly with things haha, those were the good old days’ as well.

Yeah no I haven’t forgotten. That whole part of Cataclysm really annoyed me at the time and was a contributing factor to why my interest fell off, among other things.

I went back to reread Attack on Titan now that it’s all out (okay, has been for a while) after dropping it shortly after the timeskip.

Adding time travel was certainly a choice.

I still enjoyed my time with it. But it got real hard to follow at some point and I think I’d need to re-read/watch it all again to piece it together.

I think it’s starting concept was a lot stronger than where it ended up though.

lmao somerton already deleted his apology video

Shocked to the core. It was so well received.

I’m still unsure if the author intended to exonerate Eren by the end of it or not. It definitely felt like it, and it definitely shouldn’t have.

Christmas gift that keeps on giving.

Nope, he doesnt.

He’s also already reactivated his patreon just in time for subscriptions to be drawn(You cant remove them while its inactive).

He made a community post about the apology video, stating that he took it down due to recommendation over his mental health. He then in the post continues to bring up that he’s been in hospital and how unwell he is because of it all.

No idea. Personally I didn’t get that vibe but I can see why others would.

The ending didn’t entirely land with me and it wasn’t all that well received when it first dropped and I can see why.

I feel far less joy from this than I thought I would. Sauron has been defeated with the Ring, and it leaves the void ripe for breeding new Saurons.

ITS BOBBYS WORLD

Given that this is corporate America there is exactly a 5% chance that whoever takes over isn’t so much worse somehow.
