People will argue it wasn’t settled in 2014 due to constitutional changes made because of Brexit, which does hold some weight, but current polls show that the desire for independence is less than it was in 2014 (for whatever reasons those may be). It just doesn’t feel overly wise to push for it when we could instead be working closely with our fellow devolved governments and westminster to reform and improve the current system into one that gives the devolved administrations more control they feel is necessary.
Not to mention the inherent social and economic instability that always comes with independence and usually lasts a good decade or two. Scotland would have to accept that’s going to be a burden they have to shoulder in the wake of it, and there’s really no way around it. I just can’t see the worth, we benefit greatly from the Barnett Formula economically - despite what people will tell you.

All I can really say is that if I were Scottish I would probably be pro-indy and I do think the trainwreck of Brexit (and the fact Scotland voted against it) is a valid justification for indy 2: electric boogaloo.
But since I’m not Scottish, it’s not an issue that’s particularly close to my heart.

To be honest, “Vote for us because else insert political party we don’t like gets in” is also what played a large part in the elections we had in the Netherlands in November.
Alot of people wished to keep out the PVV ( the Freedomparty, anti-EU, anti-migration, but on social issues surprisingly leftist), and on the other spectrum even more people voted to keep out PvdA/Groenlinks ( A fusion of a social party and our green party, who decided to fuse cause alone their numbers were tanking).
PVV won in the end, with PvdA/GL ending up second. So now we’re getting a turbo-rightwing government.
Now personally I often tend to vote left, not because I like the current party so much, but because I find there’s few good alternatives left. And I just find it such a shame that rather than get over it and work to make something of the party still, the leader of PvdA/GL just keeps being sore over the fact he didn’t get his glorious return to Dutch politics as our new Prime Minister.

Last night I checked the news before going to bed, and the headlines were ‘Trump found guilty on all 34 charges’, ‘Ukraine allowed to use US arms to target military goals within Russia’, and ‘Nicki Minaj cancels concert in Amsterdam’, and I went to bed feeling like maybe, just maybe, there is hope, still

A lot of parties in a lot of different countries with a lot of things conspicuously in common rhetorically wouldn’t be nearly as prolific were it not for oligarch money.
And it keeps being proven to no meaningful consequence…

So far only in the Belgorod region but, seeing as that’s the one where most of Russia’s stuff is concentrated anyhow, that’s okay. Hope at some point the gloves come of fully though.
It was also incredibly funny to see multiple Ukrainian batallions tweet “WE ARE SO BACK” when they got ammunition again ( and more is still underway).
